I had a pass out today and the weather was taking a slight pause between storms so I had a look at the forecast to see which direction to go. East looked best so off to Wiltshire but where should I go ? On the far side of Calne I've passed a 'Motor Museum' sign countless times so a quick look on the net confirmed that it was open. It took about an hour to get there and probably because of the shitty weather it turned out that I had the place to myself. This couple are the original owners, unfortunately they've both passed on now so the museum is governed by a trust............. and this car was the first one to enter their collection which eventually became the museum, it's a 1937 Buick Albermarle.............. Oh FFS alright. You’re grasping at what is known as iatrogenic illness or disease. A topic that is studied before qualifying by anyone who works in the medical profession. It is far more prevalent in countries where private healthcare dominates and pharmaceutical companies find it easy to push their wares. The tidal wave of opiate addiction from prescribed meds in America is well documented and quite sinister. It is the opposite way round in the UK because meds cost money and they don’t want to spend it unless they have to. But there are still cases of inappropriate polypharmacy. It happens here occasionally that older people go into hospital and the first thing that happens is stopping almost all their meds because in combination they’re doing more harm than good. But that is rare. Most of the time those blood pressure pills, or diabetes meds are keeping that person well and alive. Why someone who’s devoted their life to studying disease and developing vaccines would know more than someone who’s read a few crackpot articles and come up with some bizarre theories after contemplating it for a few nano seconds is truly a mystery. I’m certain with a few days wading around the internet watching a few youtube tutorials you would have been delighted to let that person operate on your recent obstruction. No? Rather it was someone knowledgable who dedicated their time to that task? Well just make sure you only believe the people that it suits you to and dismiss everyone else who is dedicated to a field you clearly don’t understand. Reading some of the unbelievably ridiculous things on here it’s clear some folk really do need to go see the Doc and get more pills not less.5 points

On the way home it was a case of dodging showers all the way back .................... It was looking really threatening as I approached Batheaston so I stopped at a cafe to get a bite to eat. Fecking £10.70 for a bacon ciabatta and a coffee I took revenge by taking a very smelly dump in their toilets before I left . At least i could keep an eye on my bike from where I was sat in this massive mirror..............4 points

Down in the newest hall were some good and some not so good cars that you'll probably all remember............... Love this Jag 420............ I drove a Scimitar like this back in the day , I can even remember the reg number , 4DOP................... one for @Catteeclan, it was only a 1600L though Dave but quite tidy ............. This Mini was unusual in that it didn't have a conventional gearbox , just some torque converter arrangement that gave a forward and reverse gear. It was supposedly Alec Issigonis's own car ...............4 points

I don’t actually know how tall or heavy Mr Slowly is now. I remember at his pique fitness playing for Bristol he was about 5’ 10” and 17 stone but that was when rugby in England decided athletic was good and heavy was bad. Then they got stuffed in the scrum many times and realised weight mattered. So he went up to 20 stone and decimated anyone that was in front of him. Light on their feet they are not. Formidable they definitely are.2 points

Feckin hilarious. There’s no of idea of the muscle mass involved in being a front row player. One leg probably weighs more than a normal persons entire body2 points

But playing in the front row and being 85kg wouldn't have boded well.... You tell them @Slowlycatchymonkey2 points

i agree ... i dont agree with the figures they gave during covid , what ever some one died of they was adding to the covid death figures, there are more excess deaths now than at the height of covid , but thats not on the news every night ... perhaps its cause of the back log of treatment people couldn't get cause of lockdowns ... i dont know , im just sayin2 points

Correct. Antibiotics work on bacterial infections not viruses. Giving someone with a virus antibiotics will not stop the infection. It is usually done to - A. Protect a someone who has a nasty virus from getting a bacterial infection. B. To cover all basis if theres a suspicion the patient with a virus may have subsequently developed a bacterial infection. The inappropriate prescribing of antibiotics is what led to resistance eg MRSA so it had to stop. If everyone with a virus was given antibiotics we would be back to the days where there were none and folk would die from bacterial infections pronto. Bacterial infections tend to be fast and extremely nasty, without working antibiotics we’d be living in a very different world.2 points

I thought that too But they manufacture with indo-Asians in mind who expect to be able to fix things cheaply (ie it bends back and is easily welded) so they make a lot of it from steel.2 points
