  2. After fitting the rear suspension back on last night I took the dog out for a test ride today i was going to go out last night but it bloody pissed down, went up over my mountain as there's a good range of different terrain up there. I noticed the difference as soon as i pulled off the bike now glided over small bumps on the road hardly noticing them at all, with the old shock fitted they felt quite harsh and the front of the bike didn't feel so loose either, it's a bit hard to explain but for a long time now the front has felt very light like there's no resistance at all just didn't feel quite right, well that's now gone. When i get onto the mountain track i was instantly surprised how good the bike felt on the rough surface, the suspension just soaked it all up even the front seems to be working better. I was heading east as the sky wasn't looking too good coming from the west and was following me a the whole time i was out There was a lot of water about and the ground was still quite slippery the suspension didn't do anything to help that I stopped to take a photo here on a nice leafy lane Only to have the bike roll off the stand it's a bit steeper than the photo shows. When I got on the bike i found the fall had twisted the front end a bit I had to stop at the next big rock to straighten it out and then the next post to knock it back as i'd gone too far on the rock. Look at the weather behind me that's the way i'm heading when i get up this hill onto Manmoel mountain road. And this is what i'm trying to stay n front of This is looking into the Ebbw valley towards Aberbeeg. There's no bent on that road it's straight the curve is due to the panoramic photo I wanted to check out a track off Manmoel mountain road to see if its still ridable i went down and took some photos for my records on the way back up last time i was here this was all enclosed in tree's I got as far as Brynmawr when the heavens opened and out came a hail storm so i took shelter under a bridge until the hail stopped but got off the bike the wrong side and when cocking my leg over it got caught and me and the bike ended up on the road luckily the car coming seen me in time and stopped, what a bloody old plonker. After that i decided to head home as there was no sign of the weather behind me getting better and i was heading further away from home so would be out in it longer when i turned back. Ended up going down the Ebbw Valley i haven't been through here in a while in the old days it was a nightmare but there's a bypass now so a much more pleasant ride. I got caught in a few showers on the way back but they were not heavy so got home only slightly moist. I have a little bit of fine tuning to do with the shock and then it's see how long it lasts.

  4. So here’s a radical thought. Instead of changing your bike, why don’t you take the money you would have to spend on getting a new one, and use it to ride your bike somewhere you’ve always wanted to go. So here’s a radical thought. Instead of changing your bike, why don’t you take the money you would have to spend on getting a new one, and use it to ride your bike somewhere you’ve always wanted to go. Of course, it would involve several nights away, loads of beer, excess stupidity and hookers. On second thoughts, you’re probably better off buying a new bike.

  7. I have a significant birthday this year, so I will be 65 years old on 13th of May. I won’t be buying a new bike and I won’t have to go through any devious shenanigans either. Instead, I am spending six days with three mates from the UK, who are going to meet me in Zaragoza on the 24th of May. We will spend six days arsing around on motorbikes, reminiscing about our youth, but more importantly, making new memories. No change of bike needed.

  8. Thanks Clive......you gave me some bullets to fire! I just dropped into the conversation with the wife that your mrs may pressure you to get rid of the scoot cos she can't see the point of having it. She really got worked up about it, and said to tell you to say that she needs to sell her wheelchair cos you can't see the point of her having it. And that a wife has no right to compel her husband to do things they don't want to do! I agreed of course.......saying it would be like me telling you to get rid of the horses. I thought better of adding....."and you telling me I can't change the bike". That would be moving too quick! But the seed has been planted!

  10. But it's going to be a long buildup process and I need to choose my time carefully. Because I've been thinking about the Milestone (or some may say Tombstone) that awaits me in a month's time! You see, I was the teenager that people said would never live to reach the age of 20 due to my (perceived) status as an erratic and risk taking motorcyclist. Well I reached 20 just fine despite hitting the deck about 20 times! In my twenties I had the same thing, but not on such a grand scale because by then I was leaving a margin for error. Not a wide one admittedly, but a margin nonetheless. And I only hit the deck once......unfortunately it was at 110mph. But I got up as I always did! Time went on and I reached my 30's.....then my 40's, 50's, and 60's. And I'm still here and still doing it, and never hit the deck since 1978! Now I'm staring down the barrel of my 70's! So I want to build up this age milestone in the conscious of the wife (who just about tolerates motorcycles)......in order to make a special occasion of it! And what better way to mark this occasion than putting a deal together? However, she has over 40 years experience of dealing with me bullshitting, deflecting, manipulating.......and at times, just outright lying! So it's going to be a tough nut to crack. Basically I've got to try and work it to the point that she suggests it.....not me! Then I suppose I'll sort of grudgingly agree! Just to keep her happy you understand? Watch this space!

  20. And it's Easter weekend with the clocks going forward! Easter weekend always makes me think of following the Transatlantic Series around in the 70's......I normally did Mallory and/or Oulton. Good times......not a care in the world and no responsibilities back then! Unlike now! No hope of bringing on back the good times these days! Look at this shit! So I'm sidelined......what about you?

  25. I'm torn between Sofia's and Bob's, I like the trees in Bob's picture but you can clearly see the photography expertise behind Sofia's camera crew. I think the bike looks nice on what is a pretty cool bit of road. I sense a lack of love for the big GS though, even though I washed it

  32. Might close this at around 18:00 today, if that’s ok with people. Is anyone out for a ride that might take pictures? or @Six30, you need a little more time to finish your final drawing?

  33. Working tonight and Sunday. Sunday during the day I am going to watch rugby, the King of Prussia pub raises a team to play our team Lankelly-Fowey. Always a bleddy laugh. I played in 25 of them over the years 12 for Lankelly and 13 for Kings. The Kings is usually old boys from Lankelly and a few ringers. One year we had two Saffers and a chap from London Nigerians RFC turn out for the Kings.
