Can't believe it's already time for goodbye to such a good guy. Thanks for letting me know - you know who you are Always enjoyed your vibrant full of life opinionated self Pete, that's why I followed you to this dinosaur filled poop hole I think that was part of the fun we shared. A serious and light hearted touch in the same measure. If reincarnation is true then you're definitely off dog level Hope you enjoy the ginormous top box in the sky XXXXXXXXXXXX xxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx11 points

Tomorrow, Pete's family will have a small family only ceremony in Granada, and then he will be cremated. His ashes will be brought home. They would rather not have anyone else there.10 points

Feels strange to not see some thought provoking possibly acidic posts from Pete here this morning as he invariably kicked the week off and got everyone posting. It occurred to me that we have lost one of the old guard, we have seen a lot of this over the years in the motorcycle scene, some from natural causes, some bike accidents, other more tragic events like Chopstick Jim. It is the consequence of getting older that you see people pass on. In Pete’s case he will be missed because quite simply he was a giant in the online motorcycle scene, he had a unique way of bringing people together online. Unlike just about everyone else who runs forums, Pete never took himself too seriously, he was as fair game for piss taking as anyone else. I’m half expecting to find he has been interned in a crypt built in the shape of a Shad top box and still slightly smaller than the one fitted to his bike. The internet seems a little quieter this morning and the world feels a little emptier.9 points

I was bringing a group ride back from the alps / vercors when i got Bucks message this morning. It took me a while to process. By the time i got halfway home it was pissing down with rain an thunder claps you could hear over the exhaust noise. It 30 odd years i have rarely ridden in such bad weather. Thanks Pete.8 points

It's got a fresh oil change and spark plugs. As long as @busabeast doesn´t go on trackdays with it it should be ok.7 points

I just wanted to thank @Pedro, it must have been hard for him to be the bearer of this terrible news. I know that many of us have questions relating to Pete's passing, but I think that we should hold onto them and not burden @Pedro any further. I'm sure that he will pass on any relevant information if it comes into his possession. Given the norm for quick burials in Spain I guess that it will be unlikely that any of us will be able to attend in person, unless we hear otherwise, we will need to console ourselves with keeping him in our thoughts until he is laid to rest. Once things have settled, then maybe we'll need to have the discussion on how to keep this place running as part of Pete's legacy, but I think that we need to keave the timing of that until @Buckster and @boboneleg feel it appropriate.7 points

Nipped over to Caister this morn to fit a spark plug to a scoot I serviced a couple of weeks ago. Retailed locally at £27 to £35, got one off eBay for £17. Took the Dominator, wore the summer jacket and the sun went in. Bloody shivering when I got there. Sun returned for the ride home, much better.6 points

Surreal feeling this morning...still expecting him to post something... We've never met but we had a phone conversation many years ago...he seemed like a swell fellow and i would have made and effort to meet up with him for a bike ride if I didn't live a half world away..6 points

it does , he was definitely a one off and a character ... i will miss him for sure which sounds strange as i never met the man.... i would imagine he would of been the same in real life as he was on here... and i reckon when he called me an annoying cunt there was a little bit of affection there ( well , thats what i like to think )6 points

You should take a selfee also next to a car or a popular model of van, to have scale. They'll look for flaws, Marcel.5 points

Yep, there sure is something missing. I got to thinking about when I first came across him, it was Maximum Bikes and I had my XT660X and Kwaka Z9r so about 2007, it's been quite a while.5 points
