Sorry i have to disagree I don't think of it as some bit of paper it shows a sign of commitment to each other and has legal protections for both of you things you never know about until you need to. I had two friends that used to say it's only a bit of paper to me and the wife and they would mention it regular when we were out making it sound like me and the wife had wasted our time getting married and there was no point in this day and age which did piss me off. They were together for 15 years but he died and left no will so the house that she had paid into for 15 years along with his van was in his name and all went to his son who after about a year kicked her out of what should have been her home. I haven't the heart to say to her still think it's not worth getting married every time i see her now. As for the keeping the expense down i totally agree i see couples spending thousands on a wedding and starting off in life with a huge debt to pay off and end up divorced two years later.5 points

Didn't want anything big and expensive, got far better things to throw money at and lets face it, it's just a bit of paper that we haven't needed for the last 35 years anyway.5 points

Whoops, sorry for not introducing myself earlier! Charlie here, from Mississippi, on a 2018 Honda Fury. I have not been riding for long, still learning the ropes. I’m planning a trip for next year. Hoping to ask questions to the community as the plan progresses.5 points

I had a Lambretta GT200 .....I always had a pocket full of Festoon bulbs, 1 or 2 would blow every trip, I did try to ride to Skeggy once, but the exhaust fell of in Newark so I had a noisy ride back home.4 points

Mandy's daughter had an Aprilia 50cc ped, I only rode it once and at 30mph I thought that I was going to die! Little wheels, perched on top of it, no, not for me!3 points

That happened the first year the Portuguese got given free insurance recovery with most car insurances, and it coincided with a high rise in fuel prices. Suddenly a lot of cars used to go on holiday to the Algarve broke down and required a tow truck and a taxi service to come back home at the end of holidays3 points

Back in the 90's i was talking to a school friend of mine that went down the scooter route when i went down the motorcycle route, he was saying it was difficult to get a recovery service to offer cover on scooters because the owners would ride them to a scooter rally and then call recovery to take them home because they couldn't face riding them home.3 points

He saw how embarrassing the video of him falling over trying to get his bike off the paddock stand and is now hiding.2 points

That's a contradiction, but ok. Maybe he just left for a wee behind the dumpster instead of properly flouncing. Or he's just looking to power up his computer.2 points

It doesn't need to move! Don't try and kill Bob off with a mad engine in a 10 inch wheel scooter. I hope it shall be used to fetch pizzas to the household and take Ersilia out for dinner on summer evenings.2 points

Anyway, not that I know much about the marriage arrangements, mine was 40+ years ago, it was in a registry office, and I was at work the next day...2 points

Did a silly thing today and married my long term partner and mother of our 3 kids. Just those 3 with their partners and 2 grand children. It pissed down as we made from the parked cars to Norwich castle which added some more fun to it all.2 points

It's always the same in the difference between the written word and the inference in speech and conversation, but you will obviously take things as you see it I am not going to waste any time trying to change your mind.1 point

I am not sure I said that the Gold Star is exclusively a posers bike. But I have seen plenty of them ridden by the white scarf brigade and it does fit that role because it is a very good looking classic style bike, if we are honest that is it's target nostalgic audience, doesn't stop it being a good bike. And I am sure I said it was a very pleasant bike to ride or words to that effect. I do think it is much better looking than my Hornet but the Hornet is a better bike for riding in all situations, in my opinion, and only £200 or so more in price, or it was when I bought it. The Goldie at the time was retailing at £6800 whereas the Hornet was £6999 . In that context I think the Gold Star is a bit on the spendy side for what it is in terms of an all round dynamic bike. I know there is more of a differential, Goldie £6200 to £6500 plus OTR now, Hornet £7300 plus OTR. If I could afford a garage full of bikes I am pretty sure I would have one in it but that is not my situation so within those terms it is not for me as an only bike or a second bike. No I don't look at Hornet pictures longingly, most naked modern Japanese stuff and other stuff is pretty generic to look at with their angry insect styling which is okay but not where my heart is. Nortons, Triumphs, Interceptors, Continentals, BSA's, Airhead BMW's and older UJM's I do look at with doe eyes but that does not mean I would jump and buy one. Or have it as my only everyday bike. As to enjoying riding a less powerful bike to its limit being fun, I have had a blast on my daughters CB125F recently, a lot of fun and I like it but I would never buy one for me. I have no issue with BSA's being Indian, I do like RE's as well. I just gave my honest opinion from the test ride I had, I quite liked it but its not for me was what I said. A side note if I was to have a second bike by choice it would probably be a small dirt bike something like the 230cc CCM's Nathan is selling at the moment, but my Shadow is pressuring me to buy a big tourer with a comfy seat. So I have been looking at Blackbirds but it is a pipe dream. I promised my Mrs one bike and I'm going to keep my word, unless I manage to win one.1 point
