Been working overnight Friday and Saturday plus again tonight Sunday, not moaning but it does make getting out on the bike more difficult as I do have to sleep at some point. Anyway finished work at 8:00 am in Launceston getting it home, changed and my bike out and up at 4 Turnings garage for 9:00 am to meet up and go to Kit Hill this morning. Bit of a rush but made it. 6 of us today, me and Hornet, Steve and Super Meteor, Martyn and V85s, Gary one and 1974 Bonnie, Bob and 1975 Commando, Gary two and 1200 Sportster, Chris and 900 Triumph Scrambler. We made 3 miles and Bob’s Commando died, made another mile and it died again then again but started the fourth time. This time after an Italian tune up it ran fine for the rest of the trip up the Kit Hill. Don’t know about the trip back as I headed home before the rest to sleep at midday. Much as I think his Commando is the mutts nuts that there is why I haven’t got one. Fuck that. It’s around 30 miles to Kit Hill, it was a great run in beautiful weather. Loads of bikes out and about. Bimbletastic It seemed to be Commando and Brit bike in general day today. Some really nice stuff there, loads of UJMs, Harleys, Indians and even a couple of Himalayan’s. Not one chinky bike though Bob’s ‘Bastard Commando’ his term not mine The sound this made was awesome I know they aren’t a thing any more but I like the look of that Victory Overflow parking Triple Brick, I nearly bought one of those back in the day, in fact still have a hankering. I always thought they were small back in then but I suppose my perspective has changed Old a new Bonnie’s side by side, old Bonnie for looks for me. Got sent this today, it's a painting from the late 1980's of some of the Fowey fishermen, there are none now . They were all mates and contemporaries of mine. Sadly 3 of them are dead now four if you count Spot the dog. They lead a very destructive life, part of the job and danger I suppose. It doesn't help he's altered the gearing on his CRF and didn't realise until today its reading 12mph fast. so when riding in a 40 we were only doing 28mph and so on, I'm not trying to say he rides slow on the roads but he needs to change his speedo for a calendar

And I'd like to add...sure other manufacturers offers great touring motorcycles ...like the Goldwing or a few BMW...it's kinda hard to put into words but there's definitely some special riding a big American V twin on American roads...something you have to experience yourself.

Been out on the bike for over 11 hours today covered a massive 125 miles, if you could convert talking into miles me and Gary would have both got iron butt certificates today and almost no photos.

That’s a good day on the bike.

Before getting to the peninsula I turned off eastward back to Tarbet via Inveraray which meant riding a road carved into the south side of an incredible valley after passing various tidal lochs, the scenery was stunning and it was great riding, eventually arriving back at Tarbet and Loch Lomond before retracing my route home. 325 miles of dramatic countryside, I love Scotland.

The bike never missed a beat and the handling is sublime with the new shocks. From here I headed south towards Campbeltown following to Atlantic coast, if I had more time I would have explored multiple things along the route but I had to get back, I was 150 miles from home.

From there I headed west through the valley over to the coastal town of Oban, it was ramming with tourists and was overcast. It was good to be on the west coast as i rarely get all the way over there.

There was a guy with a brand new Benelli TRK? Dual sport looked like a 700cc, must have been fresh out of the showroom, all his gear was brand new and it had a pristine set of panniers and top box, he could barely touch the ground on it though and as he pulled out he fell off, unfortunately I didn't get a picture. He obviously flooded it as he could not get it to start again until a girl walked over and cranked the throttle open and started it for him. Humiliation complete.

The Green Welly Stop was quiet as it was a Friday, I guarantee it will have been ramming with bikes today. This is technically the southern tip of the Highlands.
