Forgive me, I don't get out much. Just heard the news, floored me. I've been around Pete's forums for many years, Max Bikes was my go to for some banter and pisstaking. Exchanged messages with Pete many times over the years, he was a truly unique and likeable guy, totally at ease with his Spanish lifestyle and dedicated to his family and his family of bikers. I fucked up a few times, indeed he banned me once, after an exchange of words, but after some grovelling apologies from me, he let me back. Many evenings I enjoyed the banter and pisstaking, brightened up my evenings many times, I'm smiling now remembering some. RIP Pete, one of life's good guys. I'll miss you mate.

Anyway, despite being a closet gay it seems the old bike goes better with some air in the tyres……..24 in the front and 26 in the back when I checked. Much better with another 10psi front and rear.

That reminded me of one of the lads i work with, years ago he had a history of visiting ladies of the night. Got to talking to a guy on the tyre shop the other day, he was putting a set of Michelin Road 6 on his cbf1000. He said that he rides everyday and during winter there is no other tire he wants since he tried the Road 5 for the first time, 4 sets so far and he won’t want anything else. Porto has a very slippery motorway style road, and lots of cobblestones inside the city, it’s slippery when it rains there.

When we were working in Essex in 2010 he pulled some bird but could never remember her name so ended up calling her Thursday because that's what day he would hook up with her and end up banging her in the hotel room, which sounds ok except he was sharing the room with me. No children that I know of, or at least none that I pay maintenance for, so having thrashed my mates old bike this morning I’ve mostly been drinking gin and tonic, eating home made sausage rolls and watching the football this afternoon. I can't remember what I did.

Last time i had a set of Avon tyres on a bike it was my VFR, when going into a bend i had to really push on the handlebars to get it to drop into a bend they were hard work. when they wore out which wasn't long i put some Michelin tyres on there, first bend i went into i almost crashed because i set myself up to ride like i had the Avon's on there but the bike just dropped into bends with the Michelins on its own and didn't need the extra effort i was putting in, that was 30 years ago though perhaps they have changed now. I always used Bridgestone's on my CB

Avon! ......maybe their bike tyres are good? I put a pair of Avon Viper Strykes on my T Max, marvelous in the dry, but at the slightest sign of moisture or a wet road it became a very interesting ride to say the least.

Change is often as good as a rest. Can’t say I would ever buy a cruiser but given the chance to ride one for a day I would happily. Enjoy it Skip
