  2. My day today went a lot better than yesterday! Went to the hospital with the missus to have a consultation with the arrhythmia specialist. Proper swanky hospital, first class service and definitely worth the monthly fee. The cardiologist has said she needs a small operation to stop excess electrical signals being generated and sent to the heart muscles which is what causes the arrhythmia. The way he explained it is that most people have one circuit that sends signals to the heart muscles to beat according to whatever your doing (resting, exercise etc) but some people (the awkward ones ) have an additional circuit that chips in randomly and causes the heart to go mental……hers hit 212 bpm last time it happened. Anyway, he reckons the operation is pretty straightforward and should be done fairly soon, possibly in the next couple of weeks (can you imagine that on the NHS?) They basically seal the end of the extra circuit to prevent it sending electrical signals. It’s a case of dropping her off one morning and they look after her all day with the op usually in early evening. She can go home the next morning. Thank fuck we can get it sorted because it’s really scared her and me too. However yesterday was a complete twat of a day……… had a lovely ride out in the morning, all went well until I got home………… Pulled up outside the house and noticed coolant pissing out at the bottom of the bike. Traced it to where one of the hoses fits onto the rear of the cylinder head. I’ve noticed that where the hose clamps to the engine there’s no stud and that’s because it’s corroded and snapped off. It’s probably stuck inside the hose but until I can lift the tank and take a better look I won’t know for sure. If that’s the case I’m not sure if it can be welded back on or whether I need a new head cylinder! If that’s the case then I think I’ll have to sell it for spares and repairs because the cylinder heads seem to be quite pricey and you never know what you’re going to get second hand. So now I’ve no working bike and the mountain bike is sitting in the corner of the garage looking smug. Double fucking bollocks.

  3. Whoo hoo! The new sofa has arrived, old one had several broken springs, well it was nigh on 15 years old, maybe this new one will help with my back, which has been bad for months. Both sofas are the same size, got then from SCS when they were on for a sale price.

  4. Here we are again. I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed riding the CB125F over here. Something about bimbling around on a small bike. Lot to be said for it. Now I wait . Got plenty of podcasts to listen to.

  17. It stands very well, the 400cc is the best size, the 650cc Burgman is a heavy old lump, and earlier 650 were a bugger to paddle about.

  20. I bought a new touring screen for my CBF but didn’t like the look of it as it came. I had the choice of clear or smoked but the standard screen wasn’t either. So the new screen didn’t look right to my eye. Anyway after a couple of weeks I got fed up with it and put the standard screen back on. Now it’s getting colder I thought I ought to go back to the bigger screen. But I had to improve the looks. I took the pattern from the standard screen and masked the new one up to resemble it Then took some statin black paint and sprayed it to match I’m pretty pleased that the results look okay. Not perfect but definitely good enough. I will tidy up a couple of spots with thinners when the body of paint has cured a bit more.

  24. I have had a good weekend, messing with bikes for most of it as I have had a week on leave. Did go out singing Saturday and had a couple of beers, been feeling a bit fragile today I hardly drink nowadays so don't cope with it well when I do. Good night though out with my singing group. Sort of a birthday celebration a couple of days early.

  30. He has a valid point but it sounds like he's assuming the thread length of the screw in jets is enough to bottom out partially blocking the oil gallery. Def some misalignment going on.

  38. It occasionally drops to 0 to -3 centigrade in the winter. Commonly ride then but no colder as the roads get too slippery. I live in the far south west so prolly warmer here than most of the UK.
