Isn't it a pleasure when we all behave and actually talk about bikes Almost like a real bike forum.2 points

As a heads up, we're now just two months from December, month of the Twat Of The Year vote. Just saying...2 points

I had to look up what is 6 foot 1, at that height and well built I think you'll find all those a little cramped after a while, and maybe overloaded. If you've tried a CB500 last and liked it, have a sit on something like a Suzuki VStrom something of that genre and see how you like it, maybe even a 600 thumper. On the road they feel a little less cramped. Having said that, if you like cruisers why not an older Shadow 750 or something like that?2 points

Thanks for the advice, I haven't ridden the CB500 for a while (a return to biking day just before the COVID thingy), and it went ok, although a lot of the ones for sale on the usual suspects seem a bit pricey for the age and mileage and there's always the suspicion they could be ex courier/deliveroo/rider school. Same goes for the GS500 (although I've always liked the look of the F model) and the E5N. Will keep my eye out for a decent CB though. As for scooters and 125cc, I'm not sure they're for me and at 6ft 1 and a fair bit north of the NHS ideal BMI, think a sub 250cc bike might struggle up some of the hills round here. I had a test ride on the Benelli leoncino that my local bike shop had as a part ex and must agree with the YouTube mob (Motors for the masses, M. Flyer etc) it's a nice retro'ish twin, comfortable and seems quite well put together, also seems to be a lot of bike with virtually no mileage for the money, also with all the add ones (luggage racks, screens, heated this and that) available on AliExpress etc it seems a no brainer, however it's Chinese and although they are improving still not sure how it would last a couple of winters lugging Fatboy around our potholed over salted excuse for roads that we have. So, had another look round and he's got a Kawasaki ER6F 2008 with 18k on it, within my price range, not had a test ride only sat on it and it seems comfortable, good protection and a quite upright seating position, does anyone body have any thoughts on them Vs a bandit or hornet etc? Now as for the Kwak W650, yes please , lovely looking bike, not sure on running costs etc but who cares if you get to look and ride that every day. Oh decisions decisions!!!,2 points

@Marcel le Moose Fondler, as a moderator it’s my duty to ask you to try and keep the story of hairy black holes to this thread.2 points

I have never ridden one, but a pizza delivery guy has just taken 2 minutes out of a google maps 8 minute trip on one, so tonight I like that bike a lot! That guy’s bike had no stickers, 4 different colours, rusty everything, but sounded just sweet when he started it.2 points

I have been offered a 2000 ish Ducati 750 Monster as a project. It's running but needs the carbs sorting and is generally rough cosmetically. Has had new belts in the last 6 months. Guy only wants £300. Any of you in the know think of a reason or red flag that I shouldn't jump on this. Don't know very much about Ducatis, never owned one or had much interest in doing so before. Cosmetic stuff I can sort. Be nice to have a project for the dark months. Going to talk to the guy again tomorrow and see if I can have a good look. @boboneleg @Sir Fallsalot1 point

It's a 24 year old Ducati so unless it's been very well looked after it'll be rough. What service history does it have and when was the last time it was worked on ? Belts having been done is good but carbs needing work could be difficult as parts are hard to get. What's the condition of the fuel tank ? If it's been stood for a while then the fuel tank will need looking at as they suffer from water ingress so it may be rusty inside. The shock mounts will be probably be seized and brake calipers will need attention. Is it £300 to you because you're a mate or is it £300 because it's a dog and you'll have to spend £1500 to get it roadworthy ?1 point

A couple of mates have had them years back, I don't remember them having any probs but the servicing was bloody expensive. I'm sure you could break it and get much more than your money back. Sounds like a winner to me.1 point

its been a real pleasure being TOTY this year.... im worried that @busabeast early dash for it a few months back has thwarted me this year ... the track day fiasco.... and then he had to hide his computer from his father in law story .. and still no video footage... well played sir1 point

It’s difficult to say with the Chinese bikes these days, some are better than others. Someone at work has one of the Benelli’s and it looks like it is decent quality, it will be interesting to see what it looks like after winter. Saying that, older jap bikes don’t fair well in winter either. What you need is a good Harley Davidson, a real motorcycle.1 point

That's how you ended up with those pads, my boss took his bike in for an MOT and the tester said the pads are looking low so he bought new ones and asked me to change them. When i dropped them out they were around half worn so i put them back in and he sold the bike a few months later the pads didn't fit any of my bikes and had been in my garage ever since.1 point
-
I reckon they were 2/3rds worn out so probably could have gone on for awhile yet. Thing is the new pads were only £5.95 delivered and I had it all to bits so thought I might as well change them as wished I had. You probably know I'm a worrier The reason I stripped them was the MoT tester advised they were low but to be honest I think he said it for something to say. He is one of those look at it and pass it types, he has a reputation for being a bit laid back. I have been going there for years as there are not that many places to get a bike MoT done near me. Plus I like the guy as I said I have been going there for years. I reckon the fronts are about half worn so didn't change them yet, I already have the pads for that. Thanks Fred1 point

We got the v12 to banger race, was a little over 1/2 tank both sides. The tanks were empty and both rears bald, (one burst), in around 20mins. Was excellent fun.1 point

Scotland It makes Wales look like it's skanky, dimwitted retard crack whore cousin Seriously, I've loved being in Wales for 0ver 20 years but Scotland's scenery is never ending and in your face wherever you turn, the roads are properly maintained too, oh and the roads are to die for if you're a biker1 point
