Just a quick hello from me. I have been riding for many years, started off in the late 70's with the usual 50cc rockets I then moved away from bikes for a few years and returned back in 2005 or so when I passed my bike test. I've ridden mainly roads but had a brief foray into green laning with a DRZ400, that ended with a badly broken shoulder and a DRZ up for sale. I have had numerous bikes ZZR600, 1100 and a very brief stint with a 1400, Triumph Speed triple 1050, Honda CBR etc etc Mainly mundane stuff. I retired a few years ago and then my marriage broke down so now living alone my thoughts turned to bikes again. I bought an old (2002) vintage BMW F650GS. I then set off on a camping trip around my home country of Ireland ( I currently live in the uk) I got off the ferry in Dublin and turned right and followed the entire coastline arriving back in Dublin having covered around 2700 miles. I'm now putting the final touches to my next ride out which is France, Spain, Portugal, and Morocco which i hope to be on my way within the next couple of weeks. I plan to spend Christmas in Portugal, then travel across to Morocco in the new year. The attached photo was the bike when I bought it. I have changed some things but overall I'm happy with the bike, we are happy plodding along together. So hello.6 points

This morning I went for my flu jab and thought I would take a run out on the bike afterwards, the plan was to go up to the Lammermuir hills. It was overcast but dry and a bit chilly, I think it is time to put the leather away and switch to the cold weather gear as it was on the edge of being too cold even with the jacket liner in. Unfortunately the main road over the hills was closed so I was forced to take a detour, I ended up on a single track road that was quite muddy in places but did take me past a nice farm shop that had good tea for £2.50 a cup. Based on my sense of direction I was convinced the road would eventually lead me to Whiteadder reservoir (pronounced “wittadder”). The road was definitely a sports bike killer, too many switch backs with steep climbs out and bends with sheer drops to the sides. No problem for the superior Harley though. I had to use the passing points a lot. The roads were damp from what I suspect was fog the previous night but the Scottish countryside didn’t fail to impress. The bike as always complimented the amazing countryside. As I headed past Cranshaws I saw a Golden Eagle, a very rare site, it was huge, unfortunately I was riding at the time and it was away by the time I stopped although I did catch some migrating birds. I made my way down and across to the A1 near Berwick upon Tweed and headed back to Edinburgh. Just under a hundred miles, a good bit of two wheeled therapy.4 points

Five of us from Fowey. Martin on his R100 Bitsa, Andy on his Tiger, Paul on his V7, Gary on his Bonnie and me on the CBF just because I was too lazy to get the Hornet out of the shed. Headed up to Kitt Hill this morning Good breakfast at Kitt Hill and 100 plus bikes. I took some photos of what interested me. Interesting Triumph Nice Drag Queen Oh and this Mubaro what ever the fuck that is. Cool looking bike though. After a couple of hours looking at and chatting bikes we headed back to Chequered Flag for a posh coffee and some more bike chat. Some interesting bikes for sale there.4 points

I may go out tomorrow I may also take up jogging, but I doubt either are very likely to happen. Wife is at the hospital in the morning, no doubt she will be there for a couple of hours, or longer, so I have some free time, I will more than likely have a lay in3 points

I don't know anything about that Mubaro, I would say it was old restored rather than new but where it comes from I don't know. I thought the numbers on the side of the engine casing looked Eastern European but that was as far as any of us got. Didn't see the owner as it would have been nice to know.2 points

You're taking the chance that the wife is in the hospital to have a snooze? WTF? You're deaf, what does it matter if she's in or not to sleep on a normal day? Have a wank or go out on the scooter, or just play loud music to annoy the neighbours.1 point

Me too, looks as clean as a pin with 20,000 miles on the clock. If it was good it would be at least a grand more. That place hasn't got the best of reputations as is, I wouldn't gamble on that TransAlp personally.1 point

Chilli ride home from work this morning, just above zero when I left but I had the right gear so warm enough. Stunning ride across the moor this morning. Light traffic and I passed all there was. I’m getting very attached to this CBF especially now I have the bigger touring screen with its protection. Just a good bike, not the best at anything. Handles well, is fast enough and frugal enough. Good lights, doesn’t look too knackered and easy to fix. It’s not worth much so I happy putting the miles on it, definitely hits a sweet spot in my troubled mind. . Also got to add the Oxford heated grips are the dogs Bollix . They work really well and are much better than the ones on my Hornet. I am normally always looking for the next bike but I think the CBF is going to break me of that habit. Bloody hospital is in uproar as we have the roofers in.1 point
