  3. Sometimes it's just cheap pads that squeal. Get copper slip on the metal contact areas where the pads sit in the carriers. If they still make noise the misses will have to live with it.

  6. Iam going to have (try) and box in the shit show of pipes under the new boiler, it looks a right mess, wish they had relocated the boiler into the cupboard where the hot water tank was in the past.

  7. Fecking hate having work done in the house, living in uproar is a total pain in the arse. I remember it well when we bought our house. My Mrs is now making noises about having a new bathroom, fuck that

  10. No - much less snow. warmer and they actually have a Autumn and a Spring whereas we really don't here. Riding season should be expanded to about 8 months per year - almost double!

  14. Did my discs & pads just before Christmas, and now the Dacia sounds like a 1970,s bus pulling up (so my wife tells me ) Offside is silent, nearside squeals like hell, went back to them and put copperslip on the backs, still squeals. Will have another look when the weather warms up.

  16. Finally got the lead out my arse and dragged a bike out first time since the 28th of September i'm ashamed to say. It was the XR's turn i wanted to check out a road before i start the process of messaging the council to see if it still has vehicle rights on it, and a plod around some of the local lanes to check for fallen trees that may need clearing The road i was checking out is only a few miles from my home and is called black road the bit i was going to look at was abandoned years ago when they diverted the route it was good on the bike as half way along was always mucky as hell. Considering its been abandoned for so long the tarmac surface is better than the roads still in service although the leaf mulch made it all slippery as hell Unfortunately the mucky bit is now a lake and in passible by bike The road is to the right of this tree and the bank i shall return on the Beta to see if i can pick a route through in the woods on the right From here i had a run through he lanes around Pentyrch which were all cleared by the TRF over the last few weeks and then onto Merthyr where i stopped to clear a spindly branch A few hundred yards on i encountered this a little too large for my folding saw but cleared the thin branches to make it easier to squeeze between them, i shall return with the chainsaw for this one And then there was this i could get around but where the bike tracks are the ground is starting to break away and its a big drop off to the right So my trusty hand saw made short work of it Another few hundred yards and there was another branch down so out with the trusty saw and disaster i snapped the handle That saw has been in my service for many years and seen some action i shall be having a short memorial service for it later in the week LOL After oiking the bike over the log i then came to this lot, its getting dark and i have no saw so had no choice but to turn around and will revisit with the chainsaw another day to clear it. There's a gully after this tree where i repaired the path down to it in the summer it's what i wanted to see after all the rain we've had.

  17. I think it will the cheap pads that are causing the squealing, as I said, I will give them another coating of copper slip, and get my wife some ear defenders

  18. What @Catteeclansaid, plus a light filling on the edges of the pads if they’re squared edges. If you’re up for it? Like so:

  26. The new boiler is installed, and a piss poor installation it is too. The radiators are hot, but not has hot as they were with the old boiler, same with the hot water from the taps.......... Thermostat has been set at 20c for 2 hours, and it has not shut off yet. We still have to sit under a blanket Will have a look online tomorrow, see if the water temp can be raised.

  29. Knocked up a saw mount on the XR this morning Covered it with a plastic bag with a helmet bag on top for the trip up to Merthyr as it's bloody foggy as hell and a bit damp First tree cleared Rode around this one last time and thought since i'm here just cut it Forgot to take a before on this one it was overhead you had to duck under And the folding saw destroyer now destroyed Then onto this lot My little saw made short work of it all The gulley repairs i done back in the summer held up well to the storms we had. Those two rock in the middle of the stream have been washed there right in the path of the line you need to get up the bank, too bloody heavy for me to move shows the power a stream has in flood I wanted to check out a lane that runs from the end of this one over to Aberdare as i'd had reports of it being washed out, when i got to the top of the hill i was amazed how good the weather was the whole of the valleys were submerged in a thick fog all day but it was blue sky's and warm on the hills Photo taken about 15:30 as the sun was starting to go down Last one before heading down into it to go home

  32. I know how you feel. I have MiL here at the moment. She was due to fly home on 2nd Jan but couldn’t as we had to call the ambulance at 2 am on the 1st as she was haemorrhaging blood from umpteen gastric ulcers caused by the meds she was taking. Her dementia has got three times worse, she’s partly incontinent and a full time job for 2 of us to look after. The hospital won’t certify her as fit to fly until the end of the month. I cannot bloody wait, tho my ski trip is screwed Every day feels like it’s 48 hrs long….

  33. Sorry if I haven't been on here a lot but it is mental in chezoneleg at the moment. This morning I'm trying to make a bit of toast while the plumber hacks the floor up for new pipes , the builders are banging away and now the kitchen lady is here trying to finalise what Ersilia wants. On top of this I'm trying to find a spot to sit in our living room and eat my toast while I'm surrounded by boxes full of our food , pans, cups etc Plus I now have to take the Mother-in-law shopping and fix her heating while I'm there ........., feck all chance of a bike ride at the moment
