  1. Set about replacing Shadows chain and sprockets in her CB125F today. On closer inspection the sprockets were fine couldn’t find any difference between old and new so I kept the old ones on. The original chain though was fecked. I think the damage was done to that by the first owner as it was dry when we got the bike. Judging by the way it stretched in Shadow’s first 4k miles it was a POS that had been abused. Anyway new HD gold chain on and a very happy Shadow. Hopefully won’t be adjusting this chain weekly. In comparison only had to adjust the Hornets chain 3 times in the same mileage. Also touched up the crash bars both sides following her recent off. I gotta say I like this tough little bike, I can see me taking it on when she wants to upgrade. That is if she doesn’t destroy it

  2. Good work. Think I'd have put that new front sprocket on myself as it's the one that gets "dished out", although you'll prob get away with it on a 125. Not unusual to get 2 goes on the rear if you catch the front in time. Daughter looks like she wants to get on it.

  4. After 3 weeks of rain, we have a sunny day in the Lisbon district. I took the bike to go the the office today. The wind is still strong but it was nice to ride for a bit again. The weather will be rainy again for the next 10 days at least...

  5. Jacked the front end of a sprinter today only for the crossmember to collapse. After much beating and bending I got it back to looking like it originally did. Once all the mud had fell off I could see it wasn't something to jack on.

  6. Well in that context she did okay to reach 5700 miles with the original chain. I have heard that Honda chains aren't what they were several times. Suppose I haven't done enough miles on my CB500F and Hornet to find out.

  7. If that was the original chain then I'm not surprised it's fubar already. It's another area where Honda are saving money , the oem chain on my CRF250 Rally was toast in 3,000 miles. It was a piece of shite.

  11. I've been grovelling around on the floor underneath my van all morning. It sprung a diesel leak on the way home from work on Monday so I was underneath trying to remove the undertray to get a better look, not much fun on a lowered van I can see where it's coming from now, looks like a hose has split from the pump to the injection rail . Oh joy !!

  16. After having a week of decent weather.... just like that, old man winter decided to knock on the door last night... Snow was of the wet variety...the kind that sticks to everything....except the roads fortunately... Warmed up & it's all gone now....which is great 'cause I've got plenty of outside stuff to do.

  18. I had the front one off and next to the new sprocket , no noticeable difference between them. The wear surfaces were shiny but the profile was still good. The first picture is a little misleading as the front looks like the teeth are sharp but it is chain wax, once I cleaned it up it looked and felt ok. Yes she is out and is over Newquay Maccys, with her mate summer now, I believe.

  21. Just been out to adjust Shadows back break as she said it wasn't feeling right and TBH I forgot to. Her CB125F is up to 6300 not 5700 miles. No wonder she is always badgering me for petrol money. Seems like only last week I gave it a 5000 mile service.

  23. Used up a tank of fuel mooching around mid Cornwall today with Grace for company. First off headed up to Checkered Flag for their Wednesday bike meet. About 10 there, some interesting stuff there. Especially liked the new GB350S in Black. Real nice 1979 Suzuki GS1000G with 21k miles for £4.5k which I didn’t think was bad. Very tidy. Anyone know what a Cheetah is, can’t say I have come across one before Old boxer with 97k for sale. Could do with some cosmetic TLC, supposedly spot on mechanically. Grace had a look around the second hand gear but it was expensive I thought. The has a second hand Schuberth C3 Pro with a filthy headliner for £100, I know you can get new for it but seemed expensive to me for a second hand lid. Confused trying to work my phone After Checkered Flag we headed down the Glynn Valley to Bodmin to show Grace Thor. Proprietor still a Cunt, warned Grace never to spend there. He had a big selection of Indians and chinky chonky stuff. Still like the look of the Gold Stars but wouldn’t buy one there. I would rather travel to Exeter to get one than buy from Colin. We then headed on to Damerells to look at the good stuff I do like this new colour Hornet 750. and Grace is convinced she wants a Hornet 500 but her A2 is a while off yet. Hand some dinner in Damerells cafe then headed up the North coast to Bude for a coffee then back home via the A30 across Bodmin more. Trip stats and a fuel tank of fuel used. Filthy All cleaned up now. Good day out in good company. Bloody cold though and I missed the CBF’s screen.

  24. I like the look of those Honda 350's , if they built one in the same style with a 650/750 engine I reckon it would be a winner.
