Sorry to see this place falling off, I know that I rarely visit but I'll change that, it would be such a shame for Pete's legacy to go down the toilet. Anyone up for a Welsh rideout, starting off in Swansea (Pete's home town) taking in some beautiful scenic roads and including Pete's last Welsh town he lived (Llandrindod Wells)?. It won't be fast, rather smooth, scenic, lots of stops, probably around 200 miles of tarmac twisties, those who want to have a blast of the throttle can steam off ahead with directions on where to stop and wait if they don't know the route.4 points

Always wanted one of those but ended up with the YZ490 which only had a 4 speed box Huge fun a fear at the same time. When kids used to ask me how powerful it was I always used to say, when you whip the throttle open wide the bike didn’t move towards the horizon the world just rotated under the rear wheel bringing the horizon to you3 points

I would say don't pump a load of cash into a bike yet, get an older £1500-£2000 Sport bike for a few months and see if that is really what you want. You can always sell it later for a more spendy sport bike or try a different type of bike without losing thousands in depreciation. If you were to pump say 7 to 10K plus into something you found didn't suit what you wanted to do in the long run you would take a big hit in depreciation. Just a thought. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.1 point

Welcome, @Gordon! If you’re confident in your fitness and don’t plan on doing long rides, try to go for a test ride on whatever you like the look of, check if that one makes you happy and that you’re adequately comfortable on it. Disregard every other opinion as you’re clearly already thinking about it with safety in mind.1 point
