Ah, who said that romance is dead!

It seems to be dropping here too. Mandy's daughter and boyfriend have both got it now. The boyfriend seems to have recovered OK, but Mandy's daughter is still feeling pretty rough, maybe due to her asthma.

Unfortunately there's also a big market of people who scam others out of large sums of money with all sorts of promises of helping them negotiate the "system". We're on a few brits in France Facebook groups and there's regular tales of woe from people who've been fleeced by "hand holders"! There are good ones too, and we used a couple to help with a few administrative tasks when we first got here, before we got our heads around the bureaucracy.

The big Carrefour in Narbonne had a Chinese New year promotion thing on a week or two back, so we picked up some Thai red and green curry paste, along with some coconut cream whilst it was there. But we got some curry powder and garam massala in a healthfood shop a week or so ago, so the curry crisis has been averted! Prawn crackers are like that!

Not today, Pete. Stuff to do, mate.

We had to head out to a pharmacy this morning for Mandy to get a COVID test done because she was pinged by the app yesterday. Result was negative anyway. Off to a few car dealers this afternoon, as Mandy is looking for a new car. Then it'll probably be beer and snacks and Netflix this evening, after the curry, which is cooking quite nicely in the slow cooker at the moment!

The chart is from the official covid tracker app here. I don't know how many people here have died from medical mistakes during that period, but I very much doubt that its 300 a day. I guess the question is, what would the government gain from releasing incorrect statistics? They want the economy to get moving again, so reporting increasing trend of deaths is not in their interest? Surely they'd downplay it?

Not a great recording, but they sound pretty good for a 3 piece band. One of my early trips the the US this song was played almost hourly on MTV, so I bought the CD, as I really liked it.

Living Colour.

Yeah, Ernie Isley seemed out of place in that group.

Just the song for the beginning of February!

A lot of people are acting like it's all over now. 691 deaths over the 24hr period up to yesterday. If an airplane crashed in every country every day, killing everyone on board, people would be up in arms about it! People would stop flying. I just don't get how so many people are desensitised to it?

I think it was that the rag trade grew up around there and at that time there were a lot of displaced Jewish people who found work there. There's still a lot of tailoring going on in the area, but it's mainly the Bangladeshi who are there now.
