Oh fuck, you reminded me that I saw Gary Glitter at Brixton Academy........the shame!
-
I had a period where I saw bands regularly. From The Groundhogs in the back room of a pub in Croydon to Led Zeppelin at Knebworth. Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Rush, ELO, Rory Gallagher, Frank Zappa, Captain Beefheart, Marillion, Motorhead (several times), Elbow, Joe Bonamassa, The Damned, Dr Feelgood, Gary Moore, Matt Schofield, The Groundhogs and others that I can't remember for the moment! The best were probably Pink Floyd - The Wall, Elbow at Cambridge Corn Exchange Worst: Gary Moore - After The War tour and Rush - Roll The Bones tour. It was the Rush gig at Wembley Arena that put me off going to big venues. I'd seen them twice before and they were brilliant musicians, but the sound at that gig was awful, so I decided that I'd had enough of the big venues! Regret not seeing Bon Scott era AC/DC (although I did see a really good tribute band that played all that era stuff) and Stevie Ray Vaughan. He was due to play in the UK, but was killed before the tour.

Yeah, I think they threw the towel in a few years back unfortunately.
-
Dumpy's used to play at the Kent Custom Bike Show every year back in the day.
-
Yes, I think that Prince's guitar playing was really underrated. Have you seen the video of him playing While My Guitar Gently Weeps with Jeff Lynn and Tom Petty?
-
I think that it's the nephew's bike? @Six30
-
Also, any band that you regret never getting to see?
-
TBH a new battery is probably a worthwhile investment. Running with a slightly dodgy battery could fry the stator and reg/rec and Hondas are a bit prone to that!
-
From a discussion on Yen's Graveyard Music thread with some of the whippersnappers on here that the saying on the T-shirt "I may be old, but I got to see the good bands!" applies to me and probably many others on here! So, which bands have you seen live.....and which were the best and the worst?
-
Yeah, nothing lost in trying.
-
As the T-shirt says - I may be old, but I got to see a lot of the good bands!
-
Good chance that it's toast now, mate. You may be lucky, but when they're really pancaked they just won't take a charge.
-
Yeah, he does some really interesting stuff on music and music theory. His "What makes this song great" series I find really interesting. Songs that I know really well, he dissects and highlights bits in them that I never knew were there!
-
No, the 1981 tour. Just after the release of the album.
-
I won't disagree with you! Saw them perform the Wall at Earl's Court on the tour for that album.
-
I've got a large, flat blade screwdriver that I bought when I was replacing the front disc pads on my RD350 (1976). I was using it to push the pistons on the caliper back in!
-
I find this guy's dissection of songs really interesting. This one is for Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb. Have a watch if you're a music nerd like me.
-
I reckon that my RD350 motor in my Speed 4 frame would have been fun!
-
So, which frame would you have put the H1 motor into, @XTreme?
-
Very good, except for the last frame. " Fuck off Six, no you can't have my van"?
-
Have you ever had a bike where the engine was/is superb, but it's let down by the rest of the bike? Or a bike that's great, but it's let down by the engine? What hybrid would you produce if you could match any engine with any bike, irrespective of the mechanical issues of making them fit?
-
Wrong story, Pete.
-
No, but seeking out a more credible source of the story helps immensely. There was a "newspaper " in the UK that once ran a story about a WWII bomber had been found on the moon. Just because it's reported in print doesn't always mean that the story is true. And, quite honestly, Murdoch has his own agenda, which revolves around what Murdoch wants! Editorial impartiality is not evident in any of his rags or TV channels. I tend to ask "what is his agenda" before accepting anything his media empire reports.

the Sun! I wouldn't wipe my arse on that comic!
