Congratulations @Sofia.

It was only after she stopped working that it got out of hand, Pete. But it had been like that for several years. Being diagnosed diabetic didn't stop her either. She doesn't drink or smoke now, but the damage has been done! Doctors say she won't get worse, but neither will she get any better!

My brother's wife went to her GP because she was worried that she was an alcoholic. He asked if she drank spirits at breakfast time, she said no, so he said that she had nothing to worry about! Unfortunately her breakfast consisted of a few cigarettes and a few cans of Stella. She has now been diagnosed with a form of dementia related to alcohol abuse and my brother has had to give up work to stay at home to look after her. She's the same age as me. I've knocked the beers on the head apart from a couple on Friday and Saturday evenings, just because I was getting a bit of a gut, no other reason.

At some point I'd like to get a fairly light bike for a bit off not-too-challenging off roading, kind of more green laning, or gravel tracks as they're more common here. I don't want to spend a lot, so will probably get a doer-upper to tinker with. It'll need to be road legal too, so I can ride it to the lanes. I'm guessing something 250cc up to 650cc that'll be fairly robust. So, any recommendations of something that may fit the bill?

I had a couple of mates who worked in an abattoir for a time......that was harsh work. They were forever getting bone splinters in their hands, how they never got blood poisoning I don't know.

Hero to zero.......it's a harsh life!

I left school at 15 (birthday in August) and started an apprenticeship 2 weeks after my 16th birthday. I couldn't wait to leave school, absolutely hated it!
-
I also failed my 11+..........however, Lord of the Flies was part of my English O-level, we even got to see the film!
-
Do you think that anyone on here will take any notice of Pete?
-
You really are in the wrong profession, Bob.
-
Yes, best to be safe.

Do bikes need an MOT in Spain? No MOT for bikes here!
-
My bike is a bit utility though, as I don't have a car. The top box is a necessity for me, but it's a Honda CB500X, it doesn't have lines, more like a 5 year olds scribbles!

Just lubed it Pete. Motul chainlube for road bikes. Did it when I got back, so it can soak in overnight before I use the bike tomorrow.

I'm bracing myself for a late charge! I voted for Sofia because, well, it's a Speed Triple! Do tailpacks carry the same stigma as top boxes? Asking for a friend!

If you get pinged by the app you'll need to get a PCR test done, otherwise it's business as usual. You could try to get a lateral flow test, but it's only for your peace of mind. I don't know what the actual rules are, but that's what my sons had to do when their mum tested positive. Good luck.

Definitely jam first. Spread the jam onto the scone and then a dollop of clotted cream on top of that......makes perfect sense.
-
Be careful, the order that you put the jam and clotted cream onto your scone could start an international incident!
-
Don't say that to my Aunt......it's always sunny in Cornwall according to her! She lives in Torpoint and it's the centre of the known universe! Still, you can console yourself with a pasty or two!

I think that you make an important observation here @Pedro. The majority of people are not trying to get into the UK to get welfare handouts, as is the story perpetuated by the media, they see the UK as a place of opportunities that do not exist in their home countries and they want to improve their standard of living. It's a bit like Hollywood of the 1920s and 30s. People moved there looking for the opportunities that they couldn't find where they came from.
