Ours have 29" wheels, but only front suspension. It's classed as a hybrid, but the chunky tyres are meant more for offroad, although it is ok on road. I was amazed at the difference compared to a standard bike. Hills are no longer avoided, in fact I actually pick routes with a few hills now!

Yes, they do make life a bit easier, Pete, but they are pedal assist, so you still have to pedal and the assistance cuts out above 25kph. There's 4 modes on these ones, which give varying degrees of assistance. The higher the assistance the shorter the range. On Eco mode I could probably get around 100km, but on Turbo mode I'd probably not see 25km. I tend to use Eco or the next mode (tour) most of the time, with a bit of EMBK ( e mountain bike) mode for short bursts on tricky bits. I've never used the Turbo mode.

The local beach was a scene of devastation after the recent rain and storms. Had a nice hour or two sitting watching the fishermen catching fuck all!

Probably not now, he's been conditioned out of it over the years, but it used to make me laugh when he'd done it because he couldn't see it until it was pointed out to him!

My eldest lad is left-handed and he used to get in trouble at infants and junior school because he often wrote things completely backwards, a mirror image of what it was meant to be, and had to be shown that it was backwards!

A good and valid point @Pedro. My mum was moaning to me on the phone the other night about the proposal to extend the London ULEZ out to near where she lives.........and she doesn't even drive! I remember working in and around Central London years back and breathing in all that diesel soot all day. We had Medical Diagnostic instruments in several London Hospitals and they all needed the optics cleaning much more frequently than those located in rural locations. Even in climate controlled laboratories the optics would get a fine grey film on them, which had to be cleaned off for the instrument to work correctly.

I'm not against electric vehicles per se, but the electricity has to come from somewhere and, unless it's from renewable sources, it's not as green as is being suggested.
