I shall have a check over them tomorrow I've shut up shop for the night now
-
Just checked the battery terminals and they are tight and appear to be sound, I've just started it now and there was no hesitation at all so I'm thinking the optimate must have done it's thing and recovered it. I only ran it for a couple of seconds mind you given its getting late and it echoes in here so I'll have another ganders at it tomorrow morning and see how the idle is, if its steady away then the bike must be very sensitive to a slightly wonky battery
-
Well that's some horrible looking cruddy shite, not so sure it's meant to look like that looks to be from the crankcase breather
-
On the battery you mean or on the connector blocks and the like under the tank?
-
Well im not sure why it would be damp in that recess but it sits over the top of that wadding and it is soaked but with what feels like water instead of fuel so unsure what thats all about it does indeed have a pippercross air filter fitter and the airflow facing side just needed a quick brush off and it's as good as new I've had a good look over the trumpets and there's no visible cracking and they feel as I'd expect them too and opening the throttle there's no visible hindrance in the bores and everything appears tight. I don't think I like the idea that there seems to be no inline fuel filter fitted though
-
Let's get to investigating oh and before you say owt no i cant see a fucking thing with this shit single light in here, id be better off using a candle... What I can tell you is it appears by the sticker at least to be running a pipercross airfilter and the optimate says the battery is good too

It's not going to stop.... things will never get cheaper the only thing that will lessen is any help we're entitled to as British tax payers, someone will always have to pay for the weak and feeble/immigrants
-
That's a funny looking bingo Hall, didn't know they had live music
-
I wouldn't have said so
-
The old x-type was mondeo based, the xf wasn't mondeo apart from maybe the front suspension, and obviously the engine was a Ford v6 but the rest of the car wasn't Ford based
-
The audi is a family car, its a 2l tdi estate so not exactly what you'd call extravagant yeah maybe upmarket slightly but I don't want a mundano or a picarsehole or any of that lower class heap of shite. I'd have liked an xf estate but they are abit more money than I'd like to pay. And they are alot more in road tax than the audi and the audi is better on fuel so that's why I got what I got
-
He has offered me a beemer 3 series if the audi falls through though
-
Mildly moist I think is the best term to use
-
I think its giving you the come on eye
-
There is a hesitation as low rpm and the throttle response is quite snatchy, so I'll have a check over the plugs/leads and airfilter tonight and clean things up abit
-
Yeah it does miss but mainly when it's up to temp so could well be fouled plugs
-
I hope its not a coil pack
-
It could well be plugs, I'll take them out tonight and gap them and give them a clean up, but it's on my list of things to get on with this evening since yesterday I gutted the garage out and organised it so I can now get around the bikes and get to my tools so that is a plus
-
I'll be having a look at things tonight once skyes gone to bed. She wants her minimoto fixing up too so I'll be getting some work done on that
-
I did notice that at 4k it has a noticeable growl from the induction its not at any other rpm just 4k so just wondering it that could have anything to do with it as a culprit of something not being quite right
-
It could well be that its just the phone playing silly buggers with the sound but as you say the only way to know for sure is to hear it 1st hand
-
I didn't really think about a vacuum leak, could be one it's tubes has perished slightly
-
Yeah our energy bill is already high enough without putting a heater in the garage to keep the bikes warm, maybe an old blanket might keep them both slightly warmer and stave it off slightly but I'd say just abit more use and alternating the optimate over to each bike each week
-
Possibly, it idles fine when it's cold but once it warms up it starts hunting/running on 3 cyl and then the idle climbs from 1.5k to 2k rpm and blipping the throttle the revs don't drop to idle sharp that gradually come down. I'd be surprised if its an injector issue its more a throttle body issue I think
-
Which one you on about then?
