Yeah its injection, id guess it just wants using abit more than 3 or 4 times a year! It may sort itself out with a few tanks of fuel through it

Well just ran the bike for a while and it's still hunting all over the place and running on 3 cyl, I think new plugs are in need and maybe a bit of balancing of the throttle bodies. Bob how much would you guys charge for balancing?

Well he's certainly not planning on taking my offer up and putting his riding abilities to the test against me so I'd doubt he'd plan a trip to idaho

Standard day for you then

Yeah I put the optimate on it for a few hours and it recovered the battery no problem, when I fired it up last night after cleaning the air filter and other bits it didn't struggle at all so it must be sensitive to a low battery. I'll get it out today and run it up to temp to see if the idle has returned to normal

Not a bad shout I'll add it to the list of things to check

I'll take them off tomorrow and give them a quick brush up and as Bob said check out the earth and reg/rec and see what happens after

I shall have a check over them tomorrow I've shut up shop for the night now

Just checked the battery terminals and they are tight and appear to be sound, I've just started it now and there was no hesitation at all so I'm thinking the optimate must have done it's thing and recovered it. I only ran it for a couple of seconds mind you given its getting late and it echoes in here so I'll have another ganders at it tomorrow morning and see how the idle is, if its steady away then the bike must be very sensitive to a slightly wonky battery

On the battery you mean or on the connector blocks and the like under the tank?

Well im not sure why it would be damp in that recess but it sits over the top of that wadding and it is soaked but with what feels like water instead of fuel so unsure what thats all about it does indeed have a pippercross air filter fitter and the airflow facing side just needed a quick brush off and it's as good as new I've had a good look over the trumpets and there's no visible cracking and they feel as I'd expect them too and opening the throttle there's no visible hindrance in the bores and everything appears tight. I don't think I like the idea that there seems to be no inline fuel filter fitted though

Let's get to investigating oh and before you say owt no i cant see a fucking thing with this shit single light in here, id be better off using a candle... What I can tell you is it appears by the sticker at least to be running a pipercross airfilter and the optimate says the battery is good too

The old x-type was mondeo based, the xf wasn't mondeo apart from maybe the front suspension, and obviously the engine was a Ford v6 but the rest of the car wasn't Ford based

The audi is a family car, its a 2l tdi estate so not exactly what you'd call extravagant yeah maybe upmarket slightly but I don't want a mundano or a picarsehole or any of that lower class heap of shite. I'd have liked an xf estate but they are abit more money than I'd like to pay. And they are alot more in road tax than the audi and the audi is better on fuel so that's why I got what I got

He has offered me a beemer 3 series if the audi falls through though
