Published in: News The Copper Spur is the most popular collection of backpacking tents from Big Agnes and there’s a good reason. First introduced in 2008, BA wanted to make a series of packable, spacious, ultralight tents flush with features and solid materials. Their entire backpacking-tent line has grown since introducing the Copper Spur, especially the ultralight category, and these tents inspired it all. This year Big Agnes is introducing some changes to the Copper Spur tents to improve livability and function. The new designs include double-zip vestibules that can be set up as awnings. Helping with space are the new 3D bin pockets at the foot of the tent to help organize gear without cramping your sleep space or ability to sit up inside. Even the fabric has been redesigned, with a sustainably made mixed denier fabric for extra tear strength and puncture resistance without adding too much weight. The new material couples with the high-volume angle hub for increased overall strength and living space. •Key Features: NEW awning-style vestibules with double-zippers provide multiple access options. NEW 3-D bin ‘mezzanine’ at the foot provides elevated storage, oversized ceiling pocket at the head provides additional storage; media pockets provide cord-routing for electronics. Reduced condensation with dual low-vent vestibule doors and high fly vent to maximize active and passive airflow. Smooth-closing, dual-zipper doors with easy-grip pulls allow for ease of entry, exit and quick, reach-through access. Quick Stash door-keeper makes stowing unzipped doors quick and easy. Velcro tabs connect fly to pole structure providing perfect pitch and extra stability; pre-cut guylines and tensioners attached to fly; reflective guylines and webbing on tent corners make it easy to see at night. Vestibule zippers protected with storm flap. Multiple interior loops for attaching gear lofts, accessories and mtnGLO® Tent & Camp Lights. Fast-fly setup available with footprint - sold separately. •Key Specs (UL2 model): Trail Weight - 2lb 11oz / 1.22kg Packed Weight - 3lb 2oz / 1.42kg Fast Fly Weight - 2lb 2oz / 964g Packed Size - 19.5" x 6" / 50 x 15cm Full Features, Specs and Details at: BigAgnes.com Source

Published in: News KLIM is continuing the legacy of rugged, technical off-road apparel with their Racer Support Program, redesigned Dakar and Mojave jerseys, and new colors across the board. Engineered through testing in the Rocky Mountains, the deserts and enduro courses, this gear offers durability and functionality that riders have grown to trust. As the riding season heats up across the country, KLIM is proud to help out competitive riders with their Racer Support Program. Off-road racers with at least a year of experience are encouraged to apply for gear support in their race efforts. The program is meant to help ease the financial burden of racing for privateers who meet the qualifications of the program. KLIM off-road gear is equipment designed specifically to give riders the tools they need to have the best experience possible, no matter the conditions. To achieve that goal, these sets of off-road gear all feature unique material layouts for different levels of mobility, ventilation and durability. The Dakar series gear is a blend of durability and airflow, featuring massive adjustable vents on the pant legs in addition to multiple stretch panels, leather overlays, and heavy duty 840D Cordura in key areas. The redesigned Dakar Jersey, with tough sleeves, vented sides, a zippered sleeve pocket and a lightweight body, is equally focused on durability while still maintaining good airflow for off-road riding. The Mojave series pushes the balance towards airflow while maintaining durability, with pants featuring the same key materials as in the Dakar Pant, but with fully open mesh panels for full-time airflow in hot weather. The redesigned Mojave Jersey also features a more open mesh body material for more airflow, while upgrading to the same durable sleeve material found in the Dakar Jersey. Topping the charts for mobility is the XC Lite series. Engineered with the aggressive trail rider and racer in mind, the XC Lite series puts extra focus on comfort in extremely demanding conditions, where airflow, moisture-wicking materials and highly flexible fabrics can make or break the experience. Still, durability isn’t pushed aside with leather overlays and durable fabrics in high wear areas. Wherever you ride, and whatever you ride, KLIM has your entire season of trail riding, racing and dual-sport riding covered. Privateers and amateur racers alike are also encouraged to apply for the KLIM Racer Support Program. For more information, visit KLIM.com. Source

Published in: News Big Red looks to be making some big moves in the coming year(s) with at least three new models. While we haven’t gotten official announcements from Honda at this time, these new models are looking like more than mere rumors at this point. First up, the 2021 Honda ADV 150. This isn’t a new model per se as it’s been available in some Asian markets for the past year; however, filings with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) show it is coming to the US for 2021. A smaller sibling to the X-ADV 750 available in Europe and Asia, the current ADV 150 is propelled by a 149cc single with 14.2 hp spinning a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Sporting 14” front and 13” rear wheels, the ADV 150 should roll its 300 lbs over off road obstacles and terrible city pavement with ease. Under the seat is 28L of storage for all your daily necessities. Second, the CT125. Presented as a concept at the last Tokyo Motor Show, Honda has submitted designs to the European Union Intellectual Property Office and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for designs and trademarks, respectively. The registered design appears to be faithful to the concept with an underbone frame, high pipe exhaust, large rear rack, and semi-auto transmission. We’re still unsure of the name at this point as Honda registered both “Hunter Cub” and “Trail125” with the USPTO but we’re excited to hear more. “That will be fun as $%&#! I had a CT Trail 110 back in the 80's! That thing went everywhere!” – Dan DiMaio, ADVMoto Advertising Director. Lastly, expect to see a new midsized Africa Twin. Rumors on this one started with Japanese magazine Autoby sharing images of an Africa Twin 850 last June. Autoby has gotten these kinds of predictions right including correctly calling the Africa Twin 1100. More recently Motorcycle News has stated the midsized twin will have a 790cc mill evolved from the current NC750X; since a DCT is already available on the NC, we’d expect it to be an available option on the new bike as well. This bike is an important one to fill out Honda’s lineup as stated best by Kenji Morita, project lead for the Africa Twin; “When we speak about pure adventure, we don’t have a wide line-up. So, we are thinking of a half-way model to attract younger people.” We're certainly excited to see official announcements from Honda regarding these bikes and will bring you any futher updates when available. Published in: News For 2020, The Mint 400 introduced Hooligan Classes to the oldest and most prestigious off-road race in America. On Friday, March 6, the motorcycle classes lined up at 7 a.m. to tackle two 80-mile laps of The Mint 400's grueling bike course. Ducati North America, working in partnership with off-road brand Fasthouse, entered riders Jordan Graham #47 and Ricky Diaz #51 in the Hooligan Open class on two modified Scrambler Ducati Desert Sleds prepared and managed by the Pikes Peak winning Spider Grips Team. A third Scrambler Ducati Desert Sled, also prepared by Spider Grips, was ridden in the two-man tag team of Alexander Smith & Michael Allen, using #5 in memory of fellow racer Carlin Dunne. From the start, both Fasthouse Scrambler Ducati riders attacked the course hard with their top speeds exceeding 100 mph across the lake beds before riding into dangerous rock fields. By the completion of the first lap Graham #47 entered the pits to refuel and continue in the lead, closely followed by Diaz. Alexander Smith entered the pits in third, handing over riding duties to team member Michael Allen. In the final 80-mile lap, Graham attacked hard on his Desert Sled to extend his lead over Diaz who responded with an aggressive charge of his own, only to take a hard hit in the rock fields ending his race prematurely with a broken gear shifter, handing second place to Michael Allen on his Falkner Livingston Scrambler Ducati Desert Sled. At the close of the race Jordan Graham crossed the line in 4:45:35 to claim the win in the Hooligan Open Class, 45 minutes ahead of the Scrambler Ducati of the two-rider team of Smith & Allen and dominating all other Hooligan class machines. "The Scrambler Ducati was great, it tracked through the sand washes perfectly and on the open stretches we were blasting past the 450 enduros,” said Jordan Graham, Fasthouse Scrambler Ducati Rider. “It's a brutal, fun course and the Desert Sled soaked up a real beating. I'm stoked to get this win for Fasthouse, Scrambler Ducati and the Spider Grips team." “A win at the historic Mint 400 is a great achievement, made all the more exciting due to Scrambler’s connection with the spirit of off-road riding in the deserts of the Southwest,” said Jason Chinnock, Chief Executive Officer of Ducati North America. “Both the Scrambler and the Mint 400 story began in the 1960s, so it made sense for us to come together again for the exciting new Hooligan Class." The Mint 400 is the oldest and most prestigious off-road race in America. Held annually in March, more than 550 race teams in 80+ classes compete for two days on a grueling desert course in the desolate foothills of Las Vegas. For 2020, a newly created Hooligan Class was created. “Hooligan desert racing is a true embrace of the spirit of the Mint 400. This race was started by crazy dreamers who didn’t have ‘race’ equipment. They raced in stock vehicles, VW Bugs, Jeeps, street bikes, sedans, whatever they had,” commented Mint 400 CEO, Matt Martelli. “We will never forget that off-road racing at its core is about the regular guy building a bike or vehicle in their garage and coming and having an amazing experience with their friends and family, challenging ‘The Great American Off-Road Race.’” Source

Published in: News Vespa scooters are going rejoin the ranks of one of the most diverse race fields in the world for 2020 for the first time since the 1970’s. Tutto Mondo Racing will be fielding a pair of scoots piloted by a team of riders from around the globe. They’re currently finishing up preparing the Vespas for off road racing with skid plates, tires, and suspension modifications to help them go the distance. “There’s no way to look cool racing a Vespa, so you have to just go out and have fun. Just like any offroad race vehicle our Vespa’s have skid plates, bigger tires, and some work done on the shocks. If you want to race on a budget, they can’t be beat. We were doing some prep at a shop in Mexico, and soon had 20 of the locals joining in to help. I wouldn’t be surprised if racing Vespa’s became a big thing over here like it is in Europe.” Marcus Benham, Tutto Mondo Racing While Vespa racing isn’t well known here in the US, it’s popular in Europe, around the globe, and there’s no better place for them to showcase in North America than the already inclusive NORRA Mexican 1000. The race is historically known for its large variety of classes and openness to non-standard race vehicles, like the Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE Ernie Vigil piloted to a 5th place finish in the Modern Open class in a field of 450, 500, and 650cc off road machines. Vespas raced in the 70’s and we’re sure they’ll be a great addition to the field this year. This year’s Yokohama NORRA Mexican 1000 Presented by Method Race Wheels is going to be one to watch! The full press release from NORRA is available at NORRA.com. Source

Published in: News Around the world, park rangers are on the front line in the battle against poaching and other threats to our fragile environment and historic sites. They are understaffed, under-equipped, and face constant threats. The mission of Rally for Rangers is to protect the world’s special places one motorcycle at a time. By the end of 2020, Rally for Rangers and its volunteers will have personally delivered and donated over 125 new motorcycles to national parks in Mongolia, Argentina, Nepal, and Bhutan, helping to protect critically endangered species and threatened world heritage sites. This documentary tells the story. By visually capturing the work of the rangers, the beauty and significance of the wildlife, landscapes, and history they protect, and by showing the dedication of the volunteers who support them through personal risk and sacrifice to deliver new motorcycles, we hope to grow the movement - to raise awareness, increase support, and help more rangers in their battle to end poaching and species decline and protect threatened world heritage. This documentary is a call to action. Rally for Rangers brings together adventurous philanthropists from around the world who want to make a difference. Motorcyclists from Mongolia, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, U.S.A., Canada, Singapore, Germany, Denmark, Lebanon, Israel, and more have participated in these rallies and made a lasting difference. Around the world, critically important natural and cultural resources are under constant threat. Wildlife and rare plants are routinely poached. Illegal mining, development, and illicit drug trade devastates landscapes. Cultural antiquities are stolen or damaged. Often the only thing between the permanent loss of this natural and cultural heritage is a sole park ranger. And all too often that ranger is ill-equipped to protect against those threats. Rally for Rangers is changing that. One need not look far to see the threats facing the environment and to know that our work is just beginning. Rangers in places like Africa, Central America, throughout Asia and beyond are struggling to protect our shared heritage and future. Everyone has role. Some spread the word through social media or word of mouth. Others attend events or donate their time and money to the cause. And a few, a growing number who have the spirit of adventure, the drive to challenge themselves to make a difference, and the will to endure hardship and danger, they get to deliver the goods, make life-long friends, and help protect the worlds special places one motorcycle at a time. ADVMoto is proud to support the mission of Rally for Rangers and their Kickstarter campaign by providing subscriptions as part of the available pledge rewards. Other rewards include stickers, patches, early access to the documentary, exclusive art, and products from Mosko Moto, Big Agnes, Sena, Klim, and RawHyde.
