I dunno, I have boys but I'm aware it's much easier to project what you consider your own faults onto a child that's the same sex. My eldest has traits of mine that I don't like and I find it hard not to tell him off for them, where as my youngest who is without a doubt much harder work has a lot of his Dads traits and I find I'm endlessly patient with those!

Got one minus the fairing. It is a pretty bike. It's what Mr Slowly used to have in Spain but he recently switched to a BMW F800 because over long distances it wears you out. It is very much a leisurely sunny Sunday afternoon bike. People constantly pull up along side it when it out n about to have a stare.

If he had of had heart attacks before they would have shown on the preop ECG It's common for people to not know if they've had a heart attack though. Internal organs have few pain receptors and are not particularly well connected up. Just for example your liver can be completely screwed and you wouldn't know unless it was picked up in a blood test or it actually started to fail. The heart does have pain receptors but they're crudely connected to the spinal column in a way that can give you a message as useless as a bit of arm ache.

What happened to Pete isn't related to having a hernia op. His arteries were narrowed. Imagine an old hose pipe that's clogged so the water can't get through the pipe properly. And you have a little round cage folded that you can put in the hose and open it up to allow the water to flow freely again. It can't make the hose pipe that's clogged or narrowed or prone to cracking new again so there's a risk in doing it. If you're concerned about your heart health then let that be known and have it thoroughly checked out prior to general anaesthetic.

Standard preop assessment wouldn't show narrowing of the arteries or the plaques that ultimately cause heart attacks. An ECG would show if there had been a previous undiagnosed heart attack but as it just measures the electrical output of your heart to create a type of picture of how the heart is beating it's not a tool that can predict what will happen in the future. Echocardiography (the heart ultrasound) isn't usually done as a routine check prior to surgery in someone with no known history of heart disease, only if there's an indication or suspicion of heart disease. Stents are an excellent option to avoid bypass grafts but sadly they don't come without risk

Arrived in southern spain just this afternoon after weeks mystery tour The pyrenees, canada, morocco, belgium and the arse end of nowhere (scotland ) and didn't write a single ride report or take hardly any photos and no-one got on my case about it - yeehaw.
