  1. Looks good similar sort of thing. Ultimately I went with the one with most 5 star reviews just because theres so many on the market it can be hard to choose between them. The cot and mattress together is a revelation though cos I before I was waking up with aches and pains I didnt even know I had yet… but its a warning theyre in the post … where is that yoga dvd
  2. Im excited for you as well, cant wait for the Grasshopper Flies series! ps yes your damn right and dont pack perishable food (and definitely not chocolate) on the exhaust side.. dont ask
  3. Ah yes I do a similar thing, I also have a black mesh washing machine bag that I put under a cargo net. Useful if merino wool smalls haven’t dried in time, which invariably they don’t if they’ve been hand washed. If theres a machine available its nice to know when you hand it over youll get all your smalls back. After becoming a captive audience with no choice but to pay exorbitant prices for bad food at one place in Scotland I also adopted your method of checking for a nearby supermarket. Id rather have cheese, chorizo and a nice bottle of plonk than get fleeced.
  4. For me sleeping comfort is the most important part if I want enjoy not endure it and when packing space is at a premium its easy to sacrifice that for skinny mattresses or a horrible travel pillow. They work for some but not me. Motorbiker was along the same lines and used a full size memory foam pillow which sounds crazy when space is at a premium but as he pointed out you can put it in the bottom of the bag and the weight crushes it down (I crush the air out of mine in one of those thin drysacs). Having a decent pillow and mattress is make or break when you want more than one night. I bought a shredded memory foam pillow, cut the case down to 3/4 size. Mattress wise I tried LOADS and after looking up what worked best for avoiding back/neck/shoulder pain I bought the suggested cot AND mattress combo and I find them extremely comfortable. Im sure if you have a tent you already have gear youre going to use but Im mentioning them because they give exceptional comfort but pack up small. IMO for the comfort theyre worth the space, the mattress folds up much smaller than anything else Ive seen. Its comfortable enough that “5 more mins” is always on the cards Im sure someone wise will be along in a minute to mention keeping the weighty stuff low and evenly distributed on both sides of the bike blah blah blah Where are you planning to go? https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07QS9JMGC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07N4KK854/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ps they didnt recommend any specific cot and mattress combo this is just what I landed on after reading a million reviews, sometimes Im a right nerd
  5. What is the turquoise thing on the bag?
  6. Or Carry on Camping is on ITV3 17.15 I havent fired up this tv free view box for a good year and looking at the listings I can see why, what a load of tosh!
  7. The best most consistently reliable advice Ive had has always come from @Motobiker but his he has finessed his knowledge over donkeys years so its vast, youll have to ask him something specific because otherwise he’d have to write a book! Most of the knowledge he imparted I followed because it was obviously right but I remember him explaining he has one big waterproof bag across the back of his bike bought to be the same width as his bike measured with panniers on, that way theres only one bag to carry and lash on and off the bike. I didn’t specifically ignore that advice I just happened to already own 4 small ones and the bag I fancied was very expensive so best see if I like this motorbike camping first ay? Lashing those 4 bags on and off the bike drove me nuts, took 5 times longer than necessary and they always slipped and required readjusting after a few miles. Now I have one big bag and just two quality straps. Wish someone had told me earlier.. oh .. err
  8. HAPPY NEW YEAR. My year wouldnt have been the same without you weirdos, I would have wasted less time and been a hell of a lot more productive but what can I say your my kind of horrible misfits and I do like wasting time. Looking forward to another year of verbal abuse and bubble bursting, not sure if associating with you lot is driving me towards or away from needing therapy but either way cheers Gif to balance up any sentimentality that may have accidentally come through above
  9. Gonna say Happy New Year now cos got some celebrating to do and if all goes well I wont be able to remember my log in details or type later See you next year. Be good and if you cant be good… (as my kids used to shout back at me from the school bus much to the disapproval of the school staff) BE BAAAAAD
  10. Could be worse you could be looking at this… dreaming of this… when Ryanair cancel your flights and this turns up to brighten your day
  11. Rip up the rule book, itll be a lot more fun promise.
  12. Ive logged inn this morning specially to say happy birthday to you so youre gonna have to suck it up.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TYMMYAAAAAY
  13. Dont get why thats a big deal. Wales and England often share supplies what with it being in the same NHS system for the two countries.
  14. Let’s be honest Sir Fallsalot is a would be runaway winner nearly every time, we have to keep him on his toes
  15. Read a very sad story about a teenager who had to have yearly scans for tumours. They cancelled and cancelled and its now an inoperable brain tumour. Two fucking years theyve had. I know politics is off limits but having a laughing clown partying and stuffing his friends pockets with taxpayers money while people suffer… I cant help but wonder if theyre aiming to use the pandemic to finish the NHS off, private enterprise and more public purse looting to follow. The guy theyve just appointed to oversee the NHS is an American who said the NHS has a lot to learn from the American system. What? corruption you say, nonsense. Makes me wanna cry. Sorry your wifes having a shit time.
  16. I am interested to know if you consider yourself at all British after 16 (I think you said 16 years) of leaving and never having liked the place or people. I wondered if its a weird hinterland or maybe you feel more Spanish now?
  17. Its to do with their proposed covid restrictions its not an outright long term ban. Eurotunnel are obviously trying to sway things back the other way before an official announcement. What do you mean “We’re” you eschewed all things British long ago, are you telling us you still consider yourself British? What a coup More to do with England having 56 milllion populating a tiny area. It means without artificial controls it should disease wise spread throughout the population much faster and plateau quicker. The UK is one of only 4 countries that the World Health Organisation uses to indicate what may happen in other countries, albeit at a slower rate. So if its true and not the results of a cautious population then its great news for everywhere.
  18. That is one of the most disturbing gifs Ive seen in a long time!
  19. Looks like most people do Pete … Population of England Wales and Scotland Wales 3.7 million Scotland 5.5 million England 56 million
  20. Yep the vast majority of over 50’s. Some had other varieties but only the under 40s were deliberately offered something else if they wanted.
  21. This ones for @XTreme to feed his obsession with what vaccine is best and for anyone else that had Astrazenica and was susceptible to the pharma war that trashed that vaccines reputation. The figures are showing the UK death rate just hasn’t increased as expected. We have a very high infection rate as youd expect in a densely populated country but our death rate is not rising commensurate to the infections, its just flat, unlike the rest of Europe where deaths are rising as infections go up. Why? Well the only conclusion they can draw is the Astrazenica vaccine (that the majority of the population and all the older vulnerable were given) is more effective. How is this possible when vaccine effectiveness percentages are constantly bandied about showing Pfizer as great? Big pharma are big on PR. In reality there is no reliable way of measuring the T cell immune response Pfizer and Moderna rely on and the lab results they have are not being backed by real world data. Astrazenica works differently and currently looks like it gives a far more durable response. So there you are yet another which vaccine is best story to add to the mix. I hope Astrazenica come back to the party and start producing boosters. They had said no way after the way they were treated but fingers crossed. ps if this becomes a widely known news story you should expect another Astrazenica is shit story to follow, pharmaceutical companies are aggressive in their pursuit of the money god.
