  1. The Himalayan is dandy, was well looked after and had done just over a thousand miles when I got it but the previous Continental owner was a tinkerer and I think not a great one. Stayed in Granada city centre twice while doing recces out here, it is a nice city and one of the reasons I was happy to choose here. Being far out in the sticks seems appealing at first but for me long term having access to services whether its a hospital or just an apple store to get your phone fixed was always a priority. Granada is still an hour away but thats good enough for me. Motril next door has a population of 60,000 so they have most of what I want services wise, wouldnt want to live there though!
  2. Yep I can see that and Im on for a hiding with it cos Im f’in deaf and thats a killer cos you cant hear the nuances just a general overall sound, you cant lip read a language you dont know so its going to be a long road. But I can already read it much better than I thought I ever would so I think its sinking in anyway and then itll be a case of understanding the pronunciation. I really dont get every word having a male or female gender though!
  3. You dont like tea? What sort of fresh hell is this? I bought a ‘few’ teabags over in my panniers, Im already 3/4s of my way down the first one in less that 4 days, tea is the balm the world needs, people cant do bad things while drinking tea
  4. Hes got a nice chain now and Guillermo (I think that’s pronounced William?) at the RE dealership in Granada is a really f’in nice guy, a good connection to have. Said if there is anything at all he can help us with just get in touch. TBH him and the pick up truck driver were so kind it really did turn Mr Slowlys crappy day... well that n the hot food and large whisky waiting for him
  5. Yep its a sickly kind of feeling, you have been done. When theres only a few bob involved its such an ahole thing to do. When its a significant sum that would effect someones future (ie leave them potless and homeless) I can get my head round why someone lies but the bike stuff thats just a shitty way to behave.
  6. Thanks for the advice. I have always approached other countries with the idea Im a guest in their country and have never considered my presence anywhere a gift to anyone plus Ive reached an age where being myself happens regardless of my intentions so that parts sorted Ive seen what youre talking about, the superiority thing is cringingly rude. Mr Slowly and I like our own company and making friends with Brits is not something I want at all. Having said that the Brit that went up to the next motorway junction and came back cos he saw us broken down was a lovely guy, a Kwak rider though but I wouldn’t hold that against him
  7. Im more concerned about the jumbo sized tampax hanging out of the top pocket. Then again Picolax is vicious stuff
  8. Lying is so annoying, it wastes everyones time, creates bad feeling and in some cases puts their health/life at risk. Usually motivated by the filthy lucre. They should tax lying and bonus then we’d finally be getting some use out of our politician’s
  9. I would have to say given the outcome that it wasnt. It looks to be in a bit of a state doesnt it?! The mechanic preparing the bikes for the trip was knackered and ran out of time cos the bigger jobs took much longer than expected (the pannier rack for the Himalayan didnt fit and extending brackets had to be made) so I suspect the chain didnt get a look in. We definitely didnt take care of it
  10. I completely get this bit because that’s what we’re feeling, it feels so right. I just find Spanish peoples way easy, like being uptight doesn’t come naturally to them- unlike my British friends. I am surprised how well we seem to be getting on with the Spanish we’ve encountered, I thought they hated all brits but I’m not getting that at all, far too many smiles, laughter and offers of help, although I’m sure the speed conversational translation apps work now allowing the communication barrier to be removed has played a big part.
  11. Snapped chain. Dunno how it’s only 30bhp, the bikes only done 2400 miles and it wasn’t the spring link that broke. All I can think is well it’s Royal Enfield.
  12. Glad its been such a success for you. I can see the appeal. I suppose the not setting foot in Britain again is down to bad experiences but for me theres lots about the place I love, cant imagine never going back, not that Ive got a lot of choice since Brexit
  13. Oh mate, Im made up for you, what a result! Did younger you ever imagine your life leading there? ps thats a sofa bed? bijeezus Ill take a pic of what a real ikea sofa bed looks like later Yep it was furnished, and nicely done too, I think my landlord is a bit well to do, not sure what the social markers are for that in Spain but he definitely has some taste and is not pond life But even so it was a shock to rack up nearly a grand in necessaries- bedding, towels, a decent kitchen knife n pan etc etc and thats just the start, I certainly looked up where the nearest ikea is, didnt go mind you, couldnt handle the fluorescent tube lighting, crappy food and rowing couples
  14. So Six's reference to living in Rennies wardrobe on the other place was only slightly off, sounds like its more its a closet
  15. Can we have some pics here @Tango I cant be arsed with FB
  16. Ikea.. the ultimate combo of shopping for cheap dull items in a place you wouldnt be sorry to hear caught fire
  17. We had the same system. The lucky working ones were housed in Worle, then if they were disruptive they moved them to the Oldmixon and finally the place of no hope the Bournville. After I saw the Bournville during my not so well behaved years my mum would often say to me “If you carry on like that you’ll end up on the Bournville” Didnt make any difference I carried on ignoring her and doing what I wanted to
  18. I thought that too. Sticking a load of people who cant afford a car up a mountain its nuts though isnt it!
