Tis the worn expression of the poor Spanish folk that have to serve the general public when they realise you dont speak Spanish. Ive seen it a few times now cos its November and the Brits are mostly gone home so with a mask on, brown eyes and dark hair they assume Im Spanish, they start talking to me and are unable to hide the disappointment when my response is some gibbered barely comprehensible pigeon Spanish F

Hehehe. I tried it once, enjoyed it a lot, thought about getting the gear and going for it although that may have been driven by the idea of being able to down tools and disappear by simply leaving a note that says “Gone fishing” Sound recommendations then. When I finish Leathered I shall pay The Singing Wilderness a visit. -
Great stuff yet again. Going to have change your name from Sir Fallsalot to Sir Deliversthegoods!

@Grasshopper's Ride Im missing my book now its finished (the descriptions of nature were so good youre completely there) and haven’t landed on a satisfactory next book yet so your recommendations are gladly received. Im half way through ‘Island of Mercy’ by Rose Tremain and its ok, where the Crawdads sing is just too hard an act to follow so I downloaded ‘Leathered a life taken to extremes on and off the bike’ by John Hopkins, hopefully a different genre will cleanse the palate! https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B097XY63S3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 You got shy, on here? Can’t imagine why -

I was in Canada when I saw jumbo sized snow flakes. I thought I must be hallucinating! Over here snow is tiny little dots there’s not a discernible snowflake pattern to be seen so Id always assumed the beauty was microscopic but these unbelievable individual flakes up to 3cm in size were falling fast, so so beautiful. I hesitate to use this word because it’s sounds over the top but I was awestruck. I couldn’t move, I was stuck to the spot just staring, it was incomprehensible to me, then it fell so fast it became a complete white out, there was no land or sky to orientate you, you knew your feet were on the ground but it didn’t feel that way, it gave you a dizzy floating effect, brilliant and very surreal.. and very cold! Do you ever get those big snowflakes where you are? -
Happy belated bday Michelle. Hope you had a great day.

This ones non motorcycle fiction book written in a very lyrical style and even has a bit of poetry chucked in every now and then. Not being a practical or real life rendition of events its really not my cup of tea except its descriptions of nature are so well done its lovely. Most of its written in an American accent (well thats what I can hear) and its definitely off piste for this place (no offence mouth breathers) but I couldn’t not mention it because when I read it I thought @Grasshopper's Ride would like this. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Where-Crawdads-Sing-Delia-Owens/dp/1472154665 -

Mostly getting back to the good life Packed up a case with some luxury items, loose twist pile (sounds like folk on this forum) xtra lrg bath sheet size towels, Egyptian cotton sheets, heated throws, good quality chocolate, branston , tracklements extra hot mustard, pork n pickle pies … oh yeah this trip is just waaay hard core Bonus, my good friend who’s joining me wants a car to get about, fair doos I say and hire one. I go over on Monday evening to help her with the annoying covid forms and ask her if her passport and driving licence are in date…. Passport yes, driving licence? Wot they expire? She applies to renew her licence Tuesday morning. I think how great, I get to drive her everywhere in a car like a holiday chauffeur while my bike sits idle, can’t wait Then she text me about 4pm to say look wot turned up. Yep her new driving licence arrived, applied Tuesday arrived Friday

Oh yes much more fleecing is coming our way. My favourite so far was mobile phone companies before Brexit saying they wouldn't reintroduce data roaming charges (or any other extra charges) when we left the EU. They soon changed their minds and will start switching over from January. They are sliding into dipping their hands in your wallet slowly though so there's not too much fuss by saying your current terms and conditions stand until the end of your contract. Aholes. -

So no mention of the stuff they needed to sort out, crap back brake, side stand thats way too long and gets battered to an unusable state off road, the headlight that’s as bright as a lit match and the abs set up thats slams the brakes on n off at such long intervals it snakes you down the road like a rodeo bull -
Folk who like to demonstrate their perceived superiority over others whether in social status or material wealth (or any other way) are also always wankers here. But there are enclaves were that bollocks flourishes. I used to absolutely hate it but now I find it useful that they reveal theyre not my sort of person so early on in conversation, saves me wasting time weeding out the aholes Fuck me thats brutal. Parents often don't think (I could just end that sentence there ) about the impact, especially the long term impact of what they are doing. I have known a lot of parents who seem to put their children in difficult or uncomfortable positions, including only meting the love and approval children are hard wired to crave when they behave in the way the parent wants, for many its a very conditional relationship. I used to see it as plain cruelty but then I discovered it mostly seems to be down to fear (or their own fucked upness). They know life can be hard and they want their kids to be tough enough to handle it on their own. In a twisted logic they bring them pain to deal with to make sure they can cope with the pain the future might bring- to 'toughen them up' Cors Im not saying thats what it is in your case but we all know either first hand or from seeing someone close to us go through just how much parent/s can fuck with your head. They put in place a framework of thought processes before you have a chance to develop your own, hardwire wire you while you're a bit of a blank and that takes some undoing. So congrats in your direction for having a look at these things in a fearless way and coming out on the attack to slay any demons that cage you. You're not going to be simpering your way through life and finish up full of regret so hats off in your direction, that requires an uncommon strength of will. Blogging and posting worthwhile content is work, a lot of time editing, writing, rewriting and finessing things so others will enjoy it is a craft that requires time, some people don't understand that... so fuck 'em. When someone says something designed to undermine me or just negative crapola to bring me down I find reversing whatever theyre saying destroys it. Im sure you're familiar with the question "Why do you want to do that?" being asked in derisory tones to which the only reply is "Why not?" On the money front anyone who would question why you should be given money should simply be answered with (a tongue in cheek) "because Im more than worth it" Sounds like biking is the perfect balm for you. It is for most of us
