I wasn't bowled over by it...

Brain damage will do that to you.

It’s a complicated topic. Hormonal changes (menopause) are thought only a small part of it but hormones in general are a big part from birth. Men’s bones are bigger, testosterone encourages bone growth so men’s skeletons become larger during puberty. Men are genetically predisposed to gaining bone density when they do physical tasks like lifting a weight, women not so much. Women will lose minerals during pregnancy as the parasitic nature of baking a baby means the goods have to come from somewhere (hence pregnant women can often have trouble with their teeth). There’s also at the very basic the idea that women’s frames are smaller, the bones are finer to start with so simply have less to lose before it effect the bones n joints. I believe (but don’t quote me on this) women are 4 times more likely to suffer from arthritis.

Dunno, I did read last year the council decided they were gonna to take his long term carers (the ones who can actually understand his speech) away and replace them with random agency. He campaigned against it. Dunno what happened. Can’t imagine he’d fair too well without them

I’m not a top gear fan, all the fake matey ladishness puts me off but that is a genuinely good tribute. Well worth watching. Although you might want some tissues cos there was definitely someone chopping onions nearby when I watched it It’s series 31 episode 1 and it starts at 30mins 35 seconds if you want to skip past the rest of the ecky thump banter.

See even your posts are well written Just reread what I’m about to post and I’m sorry its too long and it is about money but I’ve wasted too much time tapping my phone sooo.. here it is Last thing about money though, promise, you’re right it is a truly boring subject I thought it was purely a British thing to feel uncomfortable talking about the filthy lucre in relation to yourself but it’s an Australian thing too? Yer might be helpful to get over that awkwardness for the sake of your coffers I was brought up to have a slightly disdainful attitude towards money (due to the human problems it causes) and I dunno if that’s a good way or not but viewing it as “only money” means I have no qualms talking about it, negotiating with it, saving it or wasting it and not chasing after it like one of those freaks that’ worships at the alter of the money gods, it’s an attitude that’s strangely payed dividends. Maybe “it’s only money” might work for you too. Might help get the Patreon link where it’s needed- YouTube, websites etc etc? No-one feels obligated to click those links, they do it because they want to, because they like the content and want to fund it (or you) to continue so I don’t see that you need to be shy. One last tiny suggestion and then I swear I’m done on the subject. Maybe a lower subscription level or a ‘choose your own level of subscription’ on your Patreon account might be useful for the folk who want to contribute but aren’t quite in that lower tier league. Just cos- My sister in law had a student job ringing people and getting them to agree to monthly payments for whatever charity was using their services at the time. She was told in no uncertain terms they must push for a £5 minimum monthly subscription, less wasn’t acceptable. Being a broke student she thought this was too much and pushing people to contribute above where they were comfortable just made them hang up so she would agree sums for as little as £1 Unsurprisingly every month she was the top saleswoman there by a country mile. Every single month for the year she worked there she got the bonus vouchers. She rightly reckoned people are mainly sympathetic and do like to help but most couldn’t justify the monthly budget the charities were asking. Dumb ass company still stuck with its policy of pushing for a minimum £5 contribution though didn’t they

The brits along with most 1st world countries LOVE German cars. As for the plates I’d be amazed if the great British unwashed recognise one EU plate from another (if its not British it’s simply “foreign”

So it’s a changed event now, not mid winter for enthusiasts only?

This looks like a total pita but once you've filled in the form it makes everything easy peasy. No irritation, no strops over preferential treatment, its just simple. https://doodle.com/free-poll

and yet you shun other events... The 23 November 1961 issue of The Motor Cycle carried an article by George Wilson in which he asked, "Can such a dream be realised in this country - a rally for super enthusiasts only, and so organised that by its very nature, only super enthusiasts would want to join in?... But above all it must be held in the dead of winter when only men who are men would be interested and the softies would stay away"

Never say never. Having visited a hell of a lot of them district nursing it totally changed my view. There are horrible ones that smell of cabbage and disinfectant and the occupants are dribblers but there are some amazing ones like a hotel where the staff will literally do anything for you, drive you about, provide entertainment, cook your meals, do the dull housekeeping tasks, broke your wrist? No problem Jeeves will even wipe your arse for you. You can join in or you can keep to yourself in your suite. Personally if I become infirm I can't think of a more pleasant place to be doddery. They suffer from a bad wrap and people view them with fear because they think they'll lose their autonomy, they see it as a failure, the reality is far different. It is however a move thats best researched and made before you have to. Someone who has a fractured neck of femur and is discharged straight to a care home they didn't choose will not be happy. Best to get ahead of it and pick out what you want and before you need it and hope you never do!

Its easy to tell if it is cos they'll be a room with your name on it!

Great stuff @Grace (BikeHedonia) I started reading your blog, very entertaining, you're an excellent writer. Enjoying it muchly, very talented. You have a way with words and the nerdy librarian streak in me was pretty thrilled I had to look one up yesterday (eudemonia, great word) Soz I know you don't like talking about moola (must get very repetitive) but as its a useful thing to have can I ask if there's a reason you don't have a regular subscription (donation) option on your 'support the adventure' tab? You know the sort of thing "buy me a coffee" I tend to pay bloggers/youtubers for content I regularly read via their Patreon subscription so I don't feel the pain of taking 20 quid out of my wallet
