  1. I got that, I’ve rattled the cage and if Sid James’ reincarnation doesn’t appear I’m calling an ambulance
  2. There are so many awful jokes here I feel I must step aside for the more double entendre trained to take over
  3. Vented summer gloves- you are no wussy! I wear winter mitts 50 weeks of the year
  4. Oh ok, you do look kinda like I imagined
  5. WTF, never had winter gloves, just how double hard are you?!
  6. Oops scheiße forgot to say Hi @Rob M welcome, good luck here mixing with the lowest common denominator
  7. And one day matey in the not too distant future/next lifetime you’ll get that party bag and have a friend too
  8. It’s two different types of measurements. HbA1c is the precise number of mmols and the smaller numbers @Swagman is talking about is the percentage. The HbA1c can’t be cheated, it’s not a snapshot of your blood sugar at that moment using a finger prick sized dot of blood, it shows the markers over weeks, where as the % measurement can be done in a few seconds but doesn’t give you an overall picture 42 is 6 in old money so you’re doing well. Under 7 (48) is where it’s generally agreed you need to be to avoid damage. An upper limit of 11 is a bit too high but if it’s only occasionally up there well don’t worry too much. If you have the cash to flash and are concerned about diabetic damage this thing is the way to go. The results I’ve seen on the people using them are superb. They love them, they get immediate feedback about how certain food n drinks effect them and as a result keep their blood sugars even by avoiding hyper and hypos. I’d definitely fork out for one! https://www.diabetes.org.uk/guide-to-diabetes/managing-your-diabetes/testing/continuous-glucose-monitoring-cgm
  9. Blimey that’s a plan and a half! Sounds like you’re in for a great time with all those options available. This is going to make my winging it across Spain look like a right hatchet job, fortunately enough time will have elapsed for it to have become a faded memory
  10. Cheers for that, if someone said oh that’s Rik Mayalls son you’d believe them wouldn’t you, shame he’s not funny The clothes aren’t too bad I just have to buy multiple pairs of things but getting a helmet or goggles is a bitch.
  11. @Motobiker That might be the best looking breakfast in the world Thanks for the info, very helpful. Are there particular websites you find better for locating good places to stay? Everyone bangs on about air bnb and ioverlander, I have no experience of either of these as I have always used google maps and stay at whatever’s near where Im planning on stopping (that trip advisor tells me is good) but I think this is an expensive way of doing things and whilst Im partial to the nicer things in life it can feel a bit wasteful!
  12. Im a coeliac which is such a pain in the arse I wont even start to bore you with it but the upside is I always have food on me. A comprehensive store of calorie dense ambient foods that can also easily be added to at any garage or supermarket so getting fed isnt something I worry about too much
  13. Cool boots man, you’re just cool boots
  14. My maths is shocking so ummmm we leave at 15.45 and it’s 20hrs 30mins… so 12.15pm.. ish?
  15. Oops meant to stick this map on See I’m good at this stuff
  16. Hoping to kick off in the next 10 days. Having to leave arrangements until the very last minute as commitments mean the date in mind next week could get pushed back but rough ideas are starting to come together and even if there are delays this will be executed soon. Thinking to catch the ferry from Plymouth (Portsmouth is also an option) to Santander. According to Google the most direct route is then 8hrs 45mins to the Andalucian coast. I’m not in any rush so I’m going to allow 3 days riding for that, meaning we can meander via the most enjoyable roads n soak it up. Taking the Himalayan (awesome friggin bike so that’s a given also the RE Continental… ouch ). Have committed to recording some of it for my boys so I should hopefully have some stuff to post… although as someone who doesn’t even like having their photo taken that’ll be ‘a challenge’ There’s definitely more of a winging it feel to this than usual! Don’t want to miss the opportunity to ask for ideas or opinions though so let’s hear ‘em
  17. I might be able to spare you a biscuit
  18. Mr Slowly did some dramatic dieting a few years ago and I’m not a dieter so I found it awful. I kept crisps, chocolate n other snacks out in the garage and in my car, I realised I had become a secret eater- secret because I didn’t want to eat it in front of the dieting one So yer you discover the strong flavouring you don’t need much of pretty quick, judicious use of the right herbs n spices make the dish. The only problem you then have is other people’s food (restaurant included) tastes of the oil, fat n salt it’s generally loaded with
  19. Sorry can’t resist a little bit of a wind up
  20. Looks lovely. When I was in Kaprun I spent a day in Zell am see. Lovely place. Don’t know what it looks like naked though I’ve only ever seen it covered in a blanket of snow and that makes even the worse places look great How do you find a campsite with a covered area? Do you just wade through the different websites or pic what you fancy and contact them?
