  1. Yep I think I’ve narrowed down based the filthy lucre but I’ll wait until @Grasshopper's Ride appears to tell me a bridge camera is just the thing or it’s the dumbest thing!
  2. @XTreme I discovered you can alter your uploaded images on the forum by double tapping the picture and the resize image option appears
  3. I was thinking of a bridge camera for the zoom capabilities. I saw this jobby but don’t know if the battery would be an issue or if I’m missing something. https://www.johnlewis.com/panasonic-lumix-dc-fz82-bridge-camera-4k-uhd-18-1mp-60x-optical-zoom-wi-fi-live-viewfinder-3-inch-lcd-touch-screen/p3125372 or maybe this, same sorta thing. https://www.johnlewis.com/sony-cyber-shot-dsc-hx400v-smart-bridge-camera-hd-1080p-20-4mp-50x-optical-zoom-200x-digital-zoom-wi-fi-nfc-gps-3-lcd-screen/p2223394
  4. My photos are crap. Skill and talent aside for a moment I think a lot of them fail because can’t zoom in on the thing I want to photograph well enough using a camera phone and I cant focus the photo on the thing I want to be prominent in the picture when it’s distant view. So a camera is probably in order. I’m not adverse to spending a bit on it but don’t want to fret excessively when I’m dangling it over the side of a bridge cos it cost x amount. Any pointers or suggestions? I really have no idea and there are so many choices. Heeeeeeeelp Edit: I don’t think a compact camera is going to give me the zoom Id like. So long as it fits in a tank bag the size of it doesn’t matter too much.
  5. I went to the Sammy Miller museum a couple of years ago. Brilliant place, loved it, definitely going back. It was almost empty (deliberately chose a quiet weekday time) and there was an old guy who kept appearing just slightly off to one side. I didn’t think much of it until we left the building and my friend said you know that guy who was eavesdropping, that was Sammy Miller. Ive thought about it many times since, he was definitely available to chat to and I didn’t bloody recognise him. So annoyed with myself, what an idiot, I was in the Sammy Miller museum with Sammy Miller, had the opportunity to chat to the legend himself and missed it.... I console myself that the things I was saying were extremely complimentary, I understand why he was smiling at me now, at the time I thought I’d just attracted a lunatic He enjoyed listening to me standing in front of his ENORMOUS trophy cabinet raving on about how unbelievable it was and how talented he must be cos it just didn’t seem possible to have so many. He must have competed non stop and won everything, really remarkable.
  6. @Grasshopper's Ride looking good Michelle, very smooth
  7. Bloody hell he has a camera?!! Judging from the voluminous content posted since its purchase I guess you’re not that enamoured with it
  8. Lastly a couple of attempts at from the cockpit pic which failed so spectacularly it was abandoned (phone refused to focus off the gauges) so I got off the bike to take them. Wish Id cleaned my drop down sun visor before riding into this sunset, it was that fierce low sun, the sort that requires a retinal check up after facing The undulating fields at Ubley always tickle me, they look like the sort of place Hobbits should live.
  9. This little ducks plumage was superb, the pictures in no way do the beautiful blue and green metallics flashing away in the sunshine any justice. It was in excellent condition This one stood bolt upright for sometime plotting revenge on two boy racers who’s very noisy exhaust ruffled it’s feathers. Try as I might I just couldn’t get a good pic of this duck but it’s was sweet and had nice markings so I’m including it anyway.
  10. These birds out at Chew Valley lake are very friendly and looked happy after a long day of being fed by the flocks of visitors who come to stare. A magic window appears on a Sunday after 6/7pm when everyone just goes home. The roads are lovely and empty and it’s easy to get close to things you want to see. I apologise for the quality of these pics, its finally tipped me over into wanting to get a reasonable camera and learning what all that iso, f’s, aperture shutter speed stuff does cos with a decent camera and/or skill some of these would have been so much better. This swan seem to be putting on a show
  11. You kept the bike upright n didn’t break anything, under the circumstances I’d count that as a win.
  12. Bloody hell, I’d heard it, I’d seen it plugged but I didn’t know if could actually happen outside a carefully curated BMW photo shoot?! Bit bloody heavy though ay? I mean a Himalayan is one heavy thing to regularly dump in the dust but one of those Great pic though
  13. Cheers m’dear. I did go back n forth on it trying to dissuade myself but it’s a bit like Woody Harrelson- ugly fuck but somehow also attractive Plus I tried out other show pony’s, like the Triumph Bonneville and the Indian Scout and only this one made me laugh my head off and fear I might die at the same time
  14. Bank holiday weekend, probably heading to Weston super mare for a ruck. Or most likely now the old bastards need a lie down after accidentally getting up before midday
  15. Ah no nothing that cool. It’s a modern iteration (one I can start and maintain ), its a show pony or it would be if I washed it Hang on a sec for some reason my phots take stupid long to arrive on other devices.
  16. Why is mud, verdant greenery and blossom just so good to look at? The animal side of us must be preprogrammed to like it. Great pics, would have loved to ridden that. Damn cold today though even with the sunshine, definitely a heated grips day.
  17. Went out on the ninet (after checking I am still insured n taxed, so easy to lose track of these things) and had a blast.. kind of. Haven’t ridden it for so long it felt a bit new. I suppose I hadn’t done very many miles on it before lockdown or in the gaps so some of it was comfortable and familiar and some of it was.. oops.. oh yep oops again.. oh yep I remember that now.. oops Love that bike, the suspension is hard, and the bikes rough (a bit like very fine farm machinery) but oh it’s fun and a weeny bit dangerous mwah ha ha haaa. Is there a way of posting pics in a smaller size? Some were zoomed in pics and look fine on a tiny phone screen but monitor size theyre less than thrilling and I’m pretty sure I should post ride pics here at some point or face accusations of being a casual.. heaven forbid. Also wondering if we can have a twat of the week award for general twatishness of either forum members or the general public who are busy bringing ‘joy’ to life? I have an excellent nominee from today who’s clueless face as he nearly wiped me out deserves place.. and an f’in good shake.
  18. Nice Do the french do that thing thats popular in Spain where the BBQ is in a covered area?
  19. Good luck with that, what’s the temp there?
  20. Ah a bit of mud paddling, yes not the most fun way to ride! In all seriousness though I dont think Id be very happy on those tyres in mud. Glad mud was the only type of plastering that occurred!
  21. Maybe individually email any missing persons (so it doesnt land up in junk mail) cos they may well have concluded it went pop and given up.
