When I was a kid I always wanted this car. Couldn’t stand the Hoff at the time, completely up his own. But the car, oh by crikey I wanted that car!

I’m thinking this bank holiday would be nicely rounded off with a curry and a glass of crisp white wine. Someone told me Spain (and all other countries) dont really do takeaways like we do here? Is this true?

Bit of a shit sandwich then. Suppose better to focus on what you do have to stay happy. I was decidedly pissed off Covid stopped me moving to Spain and even more pissed off that might be a permanent state of affairs given we dont know what’s going to happen business wise so my long made, hard to fruition plans disappeared in puff of smoke and I’m stuck in grey Blighty when I just want to ride my bike in the sunshine. But then again I’m grateful everyone I care about is still alive, I have a nice home that everyone enjoys being in, I get on with my children (they’ve turned out to be a good laugh), a loving husband, I have motorbikes to ride, good food to eat and have more time to myself than the average schmo who has to work mon to fri 9-5 so what’s to be annoyed about? Not a lot. Pretty damn lucky really.

Fair enough, you gotta do wot u gotta do n all that. Wouldnt it be possible to manage some of it on low from a laptop for a while or is that just too much hassle?

I was very taken with Norfolk. Went there a couple of years ago to get some custom mudguards made and then again last year to buy a Bandit. Nice roads as in good tarmac and empty. Guy told me Norfolk seems to miss the crap weather too and ever since then when I look at the forecast over that way its better than the rest of the country? How?!

Well I dunno if theres much in this but it sounds kind of true that if you have boots with a breathable waterproof membrane like goretex then you have to avoid dubbing because it stops the boot being breathable. You’ve effectively put a waxy layer on there that doesn’t breath. Theres some bike boot finishing cream (or ointment to Bruce ?) that keeps the leather in good condition but still allow the membrane to do its job. But I’m talking about Daytona boots here though I have no idea how Sidi’s make their boots waterproof?

Yer when the restrictions are lifted and we’re allowed out again proper I will be going from Lands end to John o groats via the back roads and then when/if they every lift the travelling abroad restrictions Ill be away. But until then it only exists in all of our imaginations!

Its making me wonder if I should take the opportunity to look at Portugal before relocating in Spain. Other folk have been saying Portugal over Spain and Ive ignored them because Spains so much bigger and riding into Morocco and Africa from there is more doable. But it looks so green and I do like green. Octopus isn’t easy to get hold of here. Even squid is hard to find raw (you can get battered rings ?). I tried to buy some a few weeks back. The pic below is the current supermarket price, I cant bring myself to pay it, for the money Id rather have lobster. So sorry to read of your bereavement. You know there aren’t any adequate words because by now you will have had people saying stupid or insensitive things to you, or worse saying nothing at all because they cant cope with emotion but I’m impressed with your candour and your tears and I wish you all the best. Sadly our flag is a bit ruined for me. Its associated with the lowest form of knee jerk racism masquerading as patriotism. I wish there was a way to claim it back. When I read or see other countries having some pride or joy in where they come from (like Pedro) I feel a bit cheated, like we’d all benefit from a bit of being happy about where you come from. The Welsh and Scottish are but I’m English so it comes with the territory to spend time apologising for what other arseholes have done in the past! @XTreme I was only talking about this forum to my husband last night saying I enjoy this place because theres just a bit of joking around and chatting shit and no-one seems to get there hair off too much. Plus theres lots of ride reports. I’m always myself on the internet, I cant abide pretence but we all have different sides to our personality and I’m definitely more relaxed on here. Anyway a bit more back on topic @Sofia have you done that one before or are you going to new places?

I promise I dont post from the point of view of a male with arrested development ? but I have rewritten a few posts I think might set you off ? When I joined the forum that shalt not be named in 2018 I kept quiet about being female cos I know where some lovely gents minds immediately go and it can mess things up, then after about 6 months someone who knew me outed me as being female, you can ask @Six30 he thought I was a bloke right up to the point I went on my sabbatical ? I then got 4 different guys from the forum pm’ing me and emailing me in fairly strong pursuit and I dont blame them for having a go, they wanted a biking bird so why not have a punt but for me it was a right PITA cos some can get nasty when you say no thanks. Some other guys were just nice n normal n friendly (like here) but some of them.... jeez. But its good here, just the normal type of weirdos ?

I think youre all expecting there to be some reasonable explanation for his withdrawal and I dont think youre gonna find one. He wants to be gone so he’s gone. I wouldn’t waste anymore brain space on it.
