They dont know how many people have died there because they won’t keep records (or if they do they wont make them public). ”According to Heiko Schmitz of the Adenauer Police, there were 81 accidents last year involving tourists who were racing around the Nürburgring. Two people died, 18 were seriously injured and 43 suffered minor injuries.” I think normal people can do it. I’m not normal when it comes to speed. Its one of the reasons I had to wait to get a motorbike, when I get up to a certain speed, say roughly over 100mph a small demon takes over, any sense goes out of the window and the adrenaline leads my demented brain to think I’m invincible.... splat ?

So long as we are free to travel in September I’ll be going to Nürburgring then ? I wont be going racing my bike round the track though, I used to have a little speed problem and know I couldn’t trust myself in that environment not to add to their annual death toll! ?

Sounds like it doesnt it. The frontal lobe houses impulse control. The UK werent big on surgical lobotomy, they just used to repeatedly fry it with electricity until the right ‘result’ was achieved. Ive watched it being done in a psychiatric hospital. It was horrible. I was sent to see it because Id said its barbaric and unnecessary. It was three patients and they were all so severely depressed they’d even stopped eating. Before the ECT they were shells with no responses, they looked like the walking (shuffling) dead. I watched it being done and was then absolutely certain it was wrong and should be stopped, couldn’t believe it still went on in the 1990’s. The next day all three had dressed themselves and were sitting at a table eating and talking like they were never depressed. It was a shock for me to see how well it had worked. The nurse looked at me and shrugged and said we don’t understand why it works either. The woman with severe post natal depression got to go home a few days later, she was thrilled.- 852 replies

I’m told the triumph forum is a bitchfest, a friend left there the other day, it was constantly negative. Pistonheads is still very much alive and kicking ? I waded through 12 pages on there in august about garage flooring. Pistonheads has some useful info.

Aah yes the intricate horrors of icepick lobotomies are not well known.. fortunately! If you fancy being utterly horrified have a look at icepick lobotomies in a America by a man called Walter Freeman. He loved a lobotomy so much he also did 19 children including a 4 year old! Just minor misdemeanours could land you up lobotomised!- 852 replies

I had a winged car but I can’t remember it very well. It wouldnt have flown though, it was heavy and little plastic wings would pop out when you pressed a button. Going to have to look for a pic now!

Hmm well here you go in list form IT IS- Insulting in a humorous way, has a lot of ride reports from people who actually get off the sofa and go and do things (big plus from my point of view because I find a lot of people very, very boring), its friendly and welcoming so long as you get the type of humour, blunt and lacking in bullshit, even the jibberjabber is light and entertaining, theres more of a club feel to it a bit like when your in a team and even if your not fond of one of the members theres a “he’s a dickhead but he’s our dickhead” attitude which is nice and inclusive, the majority aren’t mouthbreathers so theres no need to painfully explain posts when someone gets the wrong end of the stick, the trolling is missing cos its not tolerated by the existing members, its comfortable, Ive only been here a month and it feels like a lot longer (in a good way) and unfortunately its a bit addictive so Ill have to have a tech break soon ? IT ISN’T- Noisily judgmental, full of people getting annoyed or angry about bugger all, full of little cliques or grovellers, frequented by egomaniacs looking to make themselves feel good by putting someone else down, doesnt feel like I’m in the school playground having a bad break. So its quite an unusual forum, this is not the normal cross section of knuckle draggers, Id go as far to say its special school for special kids, what sort of special Ill not be drawn into ?

Glad you posted a pic of the river, I had images of you packing an orbitoclast with your sarnies for a bit of light lunchtime lobotomising! ?- 852 replies

Great pics Yen ? Love the matchbox cars article. Used to have a quite a few but then my little brother had his pyromaniac phase and as the A team were always blowing up vehicles I was left with none ? Being an excellent example of a little brother it was never his cars that got ‘blown up’ and being an excellent older sister I had to hurt him when I found my favourite Batman matchbox car with a melted interior ? They were excellent for launching off those tracks with a loop de loop in the middle but the wheels were not as robust as the rest of the car, wherever theres matchbox cars theres a pile with the wheels missing.

What are the titles of the other ride reports so I can find them? Thanks

Oh god they were absolute shite. So faulty and after I bought it I discovered the dealers were absolute aholes. Their reputation for being unpleasant and unhelpful was widespread but then again so were the Ford dealers. I cant stand car snobbery. By the time my car was 5 years old Id lost count of how many people asked me what my next car would be, like I needed to discard a used tissue or something?!

Good to know about the maps. Maybe I’ll try out Sofia’s throw a pen at the map style of planning ? The reason for choosing Morocco (after we’ve ridden England to Southern Spain together) is not to do with his skill level. He is new to motorbiking but he is also one of those people with a high level of sporting skill and a justifiable level of confidence in that ability. A year before he took his test he did an off road day with me not having ridden a motorbike before and flew through the lumpy mud like it was nothing, simply second nature- yes kinda annoying! Its a very different experience travelling by motorbike and doesn’t involve booking a nice hotel for a week and staying in the same spot. Its out of a lot of peoples comfort zone to go away not having all the accommodation booked and staying somewhere different every night. Just as you say Morocco is not in the comfort of Europe and thats why its I think the perfect step for thrills that once he’s experienced he’ll be smitten and further flung destinations will be on the cards ? ? I passed the point of no return on a Nepal/Tibet trip and broke my foot (I can confirm the RE Himalayan is a heavy bike ??). Its in the back of your mind this stuff can happen but when you’re quietly wedging your foot into a boot and riding on through mud because the only other option is spending days bust up in the back of a truck waiting to reach dubious medical attention it becomes painfully clear you‘re very far from home so I suppose I’m saying I dont enter into these things unwittingly and I know well from other experiences everything is not risk free sunshine and roses. Women in particular have to be careful not to cause offence (one of the reasons I won’t go to Iran) ? but I tend to do my homework on where I’m going ? Its terrible to hear of your dreadful experience losing Maria in Tangier. Not just the awfulness of being so far from home and the undoubted fear of what care she was receiving but the simple unadulterated horror of losing your partner that way so unexpectedly. She looks so young and vibrant in your pictures I almost can’t believe it, I’m sure you couldn’t. You have nothing but my admiration for having to make your way through that quagmire and clearly not giving up. So are you mixing it up when you go back with some known destinations and some new or sticking with your favourites? Is there a better time of year to go temperature wise and what are the expected temperature fluctuations over 24 hours? I want this to be successful so dont want to take my husband slogging through miles of mud, is there a rainy season? Looking forward to reading about your other trips ?

Thanks for the tag @XTreme Lovely. As Pedro said, very green footage of a nice spot ? Have you been there long? I fancy getting a drone but as the helmet cam I bought is still in its box and the sena coms kit doesn’t get used Im going to wait until Ive mastered those two before adding any more tech into the mix ? Do you know what the drone rules are there?

Thanks for this reply ? Gonna take me a minute to get back about it but I have more questions if thats ok?
