  1. Ask Pete, he’s good at that stuff.
  2. Off for a very quick spin on the Goldstar before more decorating, then a ventilation system guy is coming to service and explain whatever it is it does (apart from filter the air) cos I am clueless on that stuff, my ventilation system at home entails opening a window. There will as usual be zero pics
  3. Is this another stay in a shed or are you treating them to bricks and mortar?
  4. Hmm riding all the way, I have a suspicion nephews are involved
  5. @boboneleg it’s worth joining TikTok to see what your MIL’s son has been posting https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGJgTC4CG/
  6. After requests to “please come and help us, we don’t know what we’re doing” I’m off to Brizzle to help with the decorating I’ve decided my help will be limited mostly to advice like “mind the sugar soap going into the socket” “don’t unscrew a light fitting using the wire for leverage” (yes that one happened over a FaceTime call yesterday ) “yes that is the boilers immersion switch” “no no you really do have to paint the ceiling first” Suspect I’ll be doing any measuring, marking and drilling but that’s ok, I can’t abide it when that stuff get mucked up, it’s too difficult to correct. At least son has said he’ll make lunch and they did do a very entertaining rendition of how they’re getting on by making ape noises and knocking things over
  7. Aah so thats what they’re recording when their phones in the air pointing down
  8. Not sure thats true Pete I see a hell of a lot of Seat, Mercs and some Toyota where I live. French wrecks are probably popular in the backwater places https://www.actualidadmotor.com/en/10-marcas-modelos-coches-mas-vendidos-espana-2022/

  11. Yer it’s taken very seriously in this country. And honestly I think rightly so because overworked lorry drivers are not safe. The working times directive protects people from unscrupulous employers and protects the public against overworked lorry drivers. Who hasn’t watched a lorry very slowly veer over the rumble strip on a motorway? And cars for that matter but thats a different story. Falling asleep at the wheel is an horribly common occurrence. I remember when they introduced tachographs and my Dad being very unhappy about it, he did a complete 180 on that when they showed he was their best driver and that they were no longer strong armed into taking another load.
  12. Depends what the penalties are doesn’t it, it’s probably well worth the risk of a fine for a the money he’ll make.
  13. Some gorgeous pics and views there Missing the obligatory bin/ruins/graffiti slum pic though
  14. 2013 so his terms would have been up long ago, if he survived it I imagine he’s a hermit again, maybe this time a hermit with a house (his mums likely shuffled off by now), one that spends the warmer weather in the forest, well that’s what I hope Don’t think he’s the sort to give us an update though Great article.
  15. Could try how my Pops taught me to fix things, start with the cheapest most obvious thing change it and wait n see. Or do what other swines do - don’t mention it and get rid. You often mention how important it is for your bike to be reliable. I view a car that way too. When one of my sons was a baby he became violently ill and we had an evil car that would immobilise itself at the most inconvenient times. Sure enough it did it when I was trying to get my sick son to A&E. No more, if a car show any signs of developing a mechanical fault that would effect it being driven I get it fixed even if sometimes that means somethings being done a bit early or I have to push them to fix it or it costs more. It is an essential item out in the sticks.
  16. Hmm sounds like an on the spectrum person found other people too much and left. Don’t understand what him dying would reveal?

  21. True. They are the same here as in Spain it’s on you to make the sale happen, they generally don’t give a monkeys. One guy I know who works in a dealers said they get so many time wasters with no intention of buying a bike they do as little as possible because “if someone wants the bike they’ll come in and buy it” The salesman I bought the BSA from couldn’t be arsed to speak to me or answer my questions, he just shrugged a lot, then when he discovered I had one on order and it would be sold by them he completely changed into the most helpful person in the world!
  22. Oops. Mr Slowly just said goodbye and announced we are having takeaway this evening as a reward for standing in a quagmire pulling pints, I hope it’s not fish and chips
  23. Which era’s test the one they do now or the old one where you rode around the block and the examiner stood on the side of the road waiting for you to return?
