  1. I've just had to spend two hours crafting a letter with Mr Slowly about the damage his brother in law has done and continues to do to his sister. Fuck me when you sit down and start writing down all of the incidences it makes for a harrowing read. I'm going to need a lot of cups of tea for this one!
  2. Yep. If anyone has knee issues that is what a surgeon would recommend. There are usually stacks of them available second hand on places like eBay.
  3. A static exercise bike would be MUCH better than riding on the road where you can't control the starts, stops or inclines. You also can't control the weather and I don't see you out on the road in all conditions to get that 10 mins exercise done everyday.. too hot.. too cold.. too rainy. At home you can place the machine in front of the aircon. Happy days. Cycling on a static exercise bike is a hell of lot easier on the knees than walking. Walking involves impact which is what sets off knee pain. Cycling is non-impact and builds up the muscle around the knee, ultimately helping reduce pain in the long run. The compressive forces of walking downhill are usually the finisher for age related knee problems.

  5. Whatever you choose to do after such a long period of inactivity is going to cause you a lot of grief, whether you're successful will be very dependent on starting off very small and building up very slowly. The level of commitment is usually where most people fail. 10mins max every other day for the first week, then once you can do without no consequences 10 mins everyday, then once 10 mins everyday is too easy increase by no more than 10% each time on the distance. Do not instigate another increase until you can complete the exercise with complete ease. Exercise bikes are the best choice for someone getting back to fitness because the resistance can be lowered, you can cycle consistently without starts and stops, you can easily measure what you're doing and it's possible to watch tv while you're doing that boring 10 minutes.
  6. Careful Rich, sounds like Bucks made a sore spot and you know what sharks are like when they smell blood
  7. Sounds like he’d have plenty of useful info
  8. Depends on your capacity, my legs start to ache after 8 hours
  9. It’s scrumpy - ‘Stan’s’ by Thatchers. Farm gate laws mean it’s £8.80 for 5litres. As you know real cider catches people out because it has a much higher alcohol content than it tastes like it has. You can warn folk but it’s generally too late by the time the message has sunk in
  10. My first thought was airfield! There was a guy on the forum that shall remain nameless who was well into all that. He was always asking if anyone wanted to join in. Might be worth contacting him if he’s still about. I think he was called ‘megawatt’.
  11. The wet weight of the Bandit is 250 without luggage, with it I dread to think. Get out for a walk or two man!
  12. Hernia man has a breakdown
  13. Well well well. Who would of thought Six would be the one displaying a level of sophistication others can't attain
  14. Well spotted and yes that's why, bit Sherlock of you! She was vaguely disgusted I didn't know about 151's That's yoga for you, keeps folk in exceptionally good nick. I like her take on yoga, there's no tee-total vegan preachy clean living deep breathing exercises from her, just fast paced feckin' hard to do wear you out in 10 mins leaping about
  15. The weather forecast is crap so probably just wrapping up the things I've been collecting for the boys as house warming gifts. Got them a coffee table recently (they will love) from gumtree for £40. Very happy with it but one of the legs is in the wrong position and it tips too easily so I'll move it. Then Im gonna build a concealed stand for that insane replica divers helmet I bought at auction a while ago so it sits straight rather than rolling over to one side. It's the Himalayans MOT Monday and the Bandit Tuesday so I need to give them a glance over to make sure it's not going to fail for anything obvious. The Clevedon boys are so nice one of them said they live near me and will pick up the bike on their way to work if I liked, or drop it off and take his bike n ride home. That's lovely isn't it!
  16. Don't feel I can say Pete, I didn't exactly ask to post the pic but her racing days are long behind her. She does do a lot of promo work for Honda now (after Ducati dumped all the women who actually ride bikes ) and she seems to appear in photo's with their bikes all over the place so maybe it was in some Honda literature you were looking at.
  17. She did. She’s 60 now so no more.
  18. Looks great. I use exactly the same Pyrex for my crumble
  19. I think they look posh but are very simple to make. The guy who gave me the recipe is a chef that runs a catering company in Venezuela, he said it’s a very popular wedding dish I love the flavour of cucumber so it had to be done!
