  1. I'd swear you didn't have that done very long ago?
  2. It's bordering on ok but not brilliant. Different countries vary for how seriously they take different medical conditions. The Spanish medical establishment does not consider high BP to be that serious, the French take it a little more seriously but not quite as seriously as British doctors do - I'm not saying they are in anyway superior, there are many other things they should take as seriously as other countries do but just don't! The closer to 120/80 the better, over 130 or 90 is not ideal. The simplest way to explain why is - the less pressure against old pipes that crack easily the safer it is. A snap shot BP showing your nearing a more normal range does not give a picture of what your blood pressure is most of the time which is the important part of the equation. If you go for surgery and your BP is too high they will cancel you as high BP equates to If you go along armed with a load of BP readings that show your BP is normally ok they don't tend to cancel and will simply give you meds to lower your BP during the procedure. Turn up unarmed without any info and you risk cancellation. Sorry if that all sounds a bit matter of fact but I figure you're better off knowing.
  3. That's postural hypotension (as opposed to hypertension). Your blood pressure hasn't responded quickly enough to allow for movement so you feel lightheaded. Don't go jumping about too quickly
  4. Says the man with high blood pressure
  5. Wow you ate some great stuff while you were away! It's made me hungry and as I'm in the middle of some more basic experimental kettle cooking it has suddenly made the meatballs I'm doing seem very unappealing
  6. Sounds to me like Saul is capable of enjoying music and riding at the same time and uses the peace and quiet to learn his choir stuff. Most wise. Although they are definitely not for me, I have two expensive comms kits gathering dust, I think they're a total PITA
  7. Thats the sort of g-stringed freak you keep well away from your kids
  8. Yep you'll soon get fed up with the schlepping back and forth. If you do it yourself with a medical grade approved machine you can just ring 'em in. Having a machine also means if you suddenly feel funny you can check it at the actual moment it's happening rather than having to make an appointment or drive somewhere, by which time you're generally recovered. So I had a look on amazon.es for you to see if they sell the clinically approved one the NHS favours and they do. And for a lot less money which is good. Link to the type of thing below. You are looking for one that has been clinically tested and approved. Omron is a good brand. Spain looks like it also has Beurer which is approved but I'm not familiar with it. Alternatively you can pick one up at pharmacy and have it straight away but you will likely pay more for it. Important to note that wrist BP monitors are easy and handy but not particularly accurate to the extent they are no longer used in the NHS. https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B00KJ8FB1Q/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ADEVWZCVQALXY&psc=1 Hope that helps
  9. Good thinking Batman. If it's too high it does rightly delay surgery and sometimes it takes a few weeks to get it right. Be aware having your blood pressure dropped can make you feel shit but this is temporary while you're body adjusts so just stick with it. The fastest way for you to establish if the pills are good for you (right type and dose) is to invest in a BP monitor and take your own blood pressure three times a day, on waking and before bed with one more at a mid point. This gives a far more accurate picture than a single random check at a pharmacists and will speed up the whole process.
  10. Boy still good this morning. He went down very well at Domino's. He was supposed to finish at 11pm but they kept him til after midnight because they got busy and he's fast. He has spent a lot of time in the kitchen with me learning how to cook so is pretty competent in a kitchen, they twigged this and he was moved onto making the pizza's which apparently never happens on a first shift. So he's happy and unblotchy which means I'm happy. If would be great if this summer job works out for him because theres a Dominos in Bristol only a 5 minute walk from where we're (still) trying to buy a flat and perhaps he could just transfer there when the term starts?!
  11. Sounds like a good spend. Particularly if you like a bit of music. What are you listening to while you ride?!
  12. This I reckon even without the sunshine giving illumination this shows Harley design at it's finest. Defo a BOTM contender. Even without cheating by banning folk and adding unnecessary rules this one could well win
  13. Incinerated for the reasons stated.
  14. You're thinking of an hemicorporectomy, the usual procedure carried out on folk spending time in abandoned cavernous areas with Pete, helps stop the spread of ginger/mange.
  15. Too bloody hot in the UK, not too bloody hot when you're acclimatised!
  16. That's frustrating. Would be lovely to know in advance if it's better to leave the bloody things unlocked wouldn't it! So insurance in France, is it more or less expensive than the UK?
  17. Normally all of that is adjustable. You should have a swing setting (oo er misses) and be able to set it straight ahead, that should fix things, assuming they are near the ceiling and the price tag didn't effect the fitting Plus the fan strength is adjustable which takes the icey edge off things. Generally I've found having the aircon close the actual temp you're already acclimatised to the perfect balance. Before I left I found 26 degrees a bit chilly
  18. Home at last. Boy looks mostly recovered but we were discharged 4 hours before he was due on his first day at Dominoes Pizza. Since bank of mum and dad tightened the purse strings he has a new perspective on money and how far it doesn't go so there was no way he was going to miss out on this job. He has just left for his first shift jacked on enough steroids to make Speedy Gonzales look sluggish, he has a normal speed of between an old fashioned 'ants in his pants' right up to 'wtf on the spectrum' level of energy. If they can cope with him on steroids then he may have found his lifelong job
  19. Cheers all. Didn’t settle down enough for a safe discharge. Now on a men’s ward for another night with the usual loud and confused characters you find for yet another night awake in a sodding hospital chair! Got between zero and one bar of 4G that takes forever to load so will be out of things until I get home and some sleep. Goodnight.. maybe
  20. Looking better thanks We’re on a ward now though and getting discharge from one of those on a Sunday is easier said than done!
  21. Damn it’s still not under control, that’s me sleeping in a feckin hospital chair overnight!
