  1. Not a lot due to the whole mental semana santa craziness going on around here. Bake some bread, do a bit of sewing, cook up a storm, maybe watch some tv Weather looks reasonable
  2. Went for a walk down the seafront, it’s very busy. Looks like the schools have broken up and Semana Santa will be in full swing this later Mr Slowly’s always on about how weak English mustard has become (I agree it used to seer your nostrils off if you used more a dot ) so I made him some old school mustard, I suspect eating ham will end up looking more like the overdose scene in pulp fiction than a nice little sandwich and a cup of tea
  3. There’s no fluoride in Somerset water. It’s never been a nationwide thing.
  4. I’ve more than one brutal dentist horror story from my Pops about that era of dentists. Unfortunately I think the old guy I had when I was very young in the late 70’s was one of them, I still have a dental phobia now. Not a nambypamby I’m a bit anxious type phobia, a full blown sweating before I even leave the house, want to vom, can’t go type phobia. Fortunately all the teeth a he drilled and pulled were milk teeth and I only had my first filling in an adult tooth a few weeks ago. Still nearly didn’t turn up, my first dentist was a monster and also I think a paedo but we won’t get into that!
  5. Oh god Pete are you turning into a toothless old crone?
  6. Never had one or a Fray Bentos (have to admit the idea of pie out of tin makes me queasy ) and now I can’t have gluten I never will, you could tell me they’re the best thing ever created!
  7. I looked at the location the bike was parked up and the state of it and thought fuck that, they’ll tear it to pieces
  8. And just incase you like any of these things.
  9. Before you go ordering one of each check out the prices. You don’t want to go spending your daughter in laws rent on pies, she won’t be happy
  10. Well Pete I have both good news and bad. Bad news- Looks like I might have to be back in Blighty by next Wednesday because vehicle deliveries that were repeatedly delayed are being scheduled for then - won’t hold my breath, last time the transporter delivering them was actually cancelled on route!! Good news while in the Brit supermarket I eyed the pies ready for a ‘Pete’s pies’ delivery and they have what you want (at a €1-3 markup per pie on where it should be) and so back to bad news.. doesn’t look like I’m going to be around to deliver the goods until I make it back here in May. Never mind, I hear pie is the perfect balm for chain link fencing inserted in the groin area warning pie pics incoming.
  11. Found it. It’s called ‘Picture this’ Which is horrendous considering the last few posts
  12. BOOOOOOBBBBBBB @boboneleg What’s that flower identifier app thingy called again?
  13. You say that but Gwyneth Paltrows defence dug up some ancient footage proving otherwise
  14. Lol. Nothing like keeping the carbon footprint low I fear this Spanish pork is wasted in a British sausage which is usually so well flavoured with herbs and/or spices, generally over seasoned and contains at least 5 (up to 20) per cent rusk that the acorn fed black pig would be ashamed to have died for it! Thing is there’s no equivalent and the good ones taste gooood.
  15. Made me laugh too. But why not, there’s nothing inherently wrong with the basic ingredient Spanish pork is there?! I suspect it’s a butcher or pig farmer who landed up in Spain and decided he could take no more Spanish sausage.
  16. I really enjoyed the tv series. Thing is TV is never as good as a book is it? Jackson Lamb is superb. An ancient crumbling cynic, decrepit, jaded and revolting. So compelling. Not sure Apple TV is worth it though. Then again you get a 7 day free trial…
  17. The tiny Brit supermarket is dominated by pies and sausages plus a few variations of fish and chip shop style battered fish so I guess thats what Brits must miss the most. They had three gluten free varieties so I bought all three for a compare and contrast and Mr Slowly some Marmalade which he’s happy about.
  18. Good on ya. I’m finding the language barrier a bit frustrating. For example the guy three or four doors down saw us out putting on the new cables and came over for a chat. I would have liked to have a conversation but can’t. Just managed to communicate the bateria was flat and he kindly offered and extension lead. Nice guy, unusual for a Harley rider.. Oh damn wait I have a Harl….
  19. There’s more than a touch of ‘threw a dart at a map’ about it isn’t there But then again it’s Madrid. In Madrid you have to go fast to stand a chance. That’s where my landlord lives, he said Madrid is hard work and reminds him of when he lived in London. Comparing it to where Pete lives is like comparing London to Guernsey
