  1. They're Ingerlisch and don't know any better. I'm surprised that some twat hasn't bought that pile of rocks and converted it into a holiday home.
  2. I managed to drop my bike on that slope on the right of where they stop at 11minutes. I stopped, couldn't get grip turning sound and managed to gently put it down on the grass. A great spot before the camper van brigade discovered that the bloody council had put a car park there. It was bloody heaving when I dropped the bike.
  3. Some there on the 4th. Photos on the South Wales Birding FB page.
  4. I was usually out of it at these kind of gigs. Saw Joe Bonamasa here on my sixtieth. Back in the mists of time saw Groundhogs, Edgar Broughton, James Brown, Barclay James Harvest, Stone the Crows, Deep Purple - I think, Black Sabbath, Horselips, and most of the Cardiff bands. I've seen Walter Trout three times or was it four? Saw bob Marley play in Auckland not long before he died. Secondary smoking was interesting. Roger Waters Dark Side of the Moon tour at Sao Paulo. Youssou N'Dour in Dakar. There must be loads of others that I can't remember.

    Black Days!

Pretty much the same here. I had a bollocking for not letting people know the news as I'd heard it when it happened and then went to sleep.
  6. Oldest bit of kit I've got is probably me.

    Black Days!

Certainly do. Prizegiving day in school and one of the governors being given a message. Lots of whispering then an announcement, somewhat vague as I remember, and a minute's silence. Saw the raw reality of it all on tv when I got home. My blood still boils remembering how the government took a huge chunk of the public appeal fund money.

    Black Days!

I went up to Leeds the weekend of the funeral or whenever it was. A musician made a joke about being held up by flowers being thrown on the motorway or something like that, which I found funny. The glaring eyes told a different story. Shit happens.
  9. I can imagine. I remember your birthday and still have the photos.
  10. Have done both and there's not a lot of difference, so just use the wifi.
  11. If I run the BT speed test strangely enough it's quicker. It was over 200Mbps when I first had it installed. They guarantee 130+ but I'm sure that it's slower than that at times.
  12. Seen that happen all too often! Seen the scars as well. A new second engineer decided that he was going on a pub crawl with a couple of us in Gibraltar, starting lunchtime and it must have been about three or so when we couldn't find anywhere open. The following morning everyone kept asking me what I'd done to the new Second. He had a black eye like a tennis ball and a gash on his eyebrow that needed stitches. Everyone thought that I'd thumped him. Truth was he'd got up for a piss in a strange cabin, pissed, had tripped over catching the washbasin on his way down. Great guy!
  13. There was a time when I was at sea that I used to drink quite heavily, 12 hour sessions quite often and in the bar every night. When things changed with promotion and duty days, then it was a day off. I never felt that I needed a drink on the days off, and by the time I retired, with random testing I sort of stopped drinking at sea but did enjoy a good session ashore. These days I hardly drink at all, unless Fred drags me to the Farmyard Party, although when I do I enjoy it. Was worried at one time about the consumption, especially if it was a lot of spirits. I remember a Chief Engineer saying that anyone who could drink as much as we used to then you definitely have a drink problem, but I don't think that's the same as alcoholism.
  14. I can only dream of having a bike that clean. I'd be scared to have a gnat shit on it so that I'd have to clean it again.
  15. Beat me to it! If I remember correctly it was also reputed to be the place where the ground rose in a mound up under St David so that the crowds could see and hear him preaching. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Llanddewi_Brefi
  16. Same here. Well showing nearly full.
  17. Remember those photos from your birthday @Sir Fallsalot??
  18. My last girlfriend/partner's mother went to Roedean, which during the war was moved to a hotel in Keswick. They still had a school photo with her in it when we visited. Moved back down south after the war.
