  1. Er sort of. A milder morning than I expected on the ride. Went to the bike shop in Shirebrook, guy there going to do his best to source me some front disc pads, but he can't promise he will be able to get any. Rode to Edwinstowe, a uneventful ride through the countryside, stopped at a pub and had a coffee which was not the greatest, did not invest in a bun as i thought they were overpriced at nearly £3. Rode back through the edge of Sherwood Forest Forest my arse. Stopped to try and get a photo of Warsop Sandbowl off road track, but mine was a poor choice. The travelled home 6 miles. It was nice to be out even if it was just a mundane ride. Excuse my finger in the photo...whoops
  2. I am going out! Iam on the hunt for disc pads.
  3. Make Costa,s last morning a good one.
  4. My daughters hubby is on the left, Marcel is the other guy, no mistaking them.
  5. Wife is over the moon, because our next door neighbours have gone away on their Caribbean cruise, 2 weeks of our neighbour not playing (badly) her electric organ, and no dog barking continually. And we are going out! to Asda, because we have almost run out of tea bags, Asda is nowhere as exciting as Baza.
  6. Hope she makes a quick recovery.
  7. They do not get less of a problem as they age, my daughter is 40 now, i still get the " can you take a look at the car/tap/washer/lawnmower/cupboard drawer/doors/toilet seat" and many other things. It would help if her husband had more mechanical ability than a Chimp. But I do not mind doing it.....mostly.
  8. This is why iam glad that I live in a bungalow. ☺ But I have to clear the leaves out of the gutters, i had better be careful.
  9. It's a Ducati, there will be other issues. Carbs a thing of the past for me... I am cured now.
  10. What do you intend to do with the bike @boboneleg? Apart from ride it.
  11. Hello &Welcome.......there are some knowledgeable members here that may be able to help.
  12. 2 shite coloured Marinas!..
  13. @Saul... It was not till the wife won the Postcode lottery that we got a new ish (3 year old Dacia) car, apart from a couple of company cars in the 1990.s, the Dacia is now 13 years old, so I am back to owning a banger again. How much longer will I have the Dacia it depends how much the VED costs next year, I keep hearing of horror stories that it may double in price I don't want (another ) project bike, maybe a 125cc Chinky to tinker with.
  14. As said, on the OHV engines it was very easy to do, and as you say, they benefitted from the procedure, but many other things were easy (with some mechanical knowledge) to do, plenty of room in the engine bay to work, clutch replacement was a couple of hours job on rear wheel drive cars......I once had to scrap a Ford Mondeo (it was old and battered anywsy) I found out it was a Dual Mass clutch (expensive at the time) and only way to replace it was to remove the engine and gearbox in 1 unit, I had neither the tools or facilities to do it, so scrapped it and bought another banger.
  15. In the 1960,s, and 1970,s, in the era of crap engines, crap petrol and inefficient ignition systems a De Coke was almost basis maintenance. My dad did his cars at 50,000 miles, took the head off, De Coke the head and valves too, and lap them in again, and clean the piston crowns, but on those cars it was easy to do, and only took a couple of hours to complete.
  16. @Pedro....cleaning the heads and piston crowns, we just called it a "De coke"
  17. You know what, we do not have a radio/CD player/record player in our bungalow!, even the CD/radio in the car does not work. I will stick with my lay-in, it's warm in the bed.
  18. I may go out tomorrow I may also take up jogging, but I doubt either are very likely to happen. Wife is at the hospital in the morning, no doubt she will be there for a couple of hours, or longer, so I have some free time, I will more than likely have a lay in
  19. Did Marcel post this under his alias Mexican name?.
  20. Maybe it would be a good idea to ban all things scooter related on the forum, and the owners too.
  21. After our Cairn terrier shuffled off we said no more dogs for us, we did have a cat while our daughter lived with us, but it was her cat not ours, one day it disappeared, it never did return, I expect it got flattened by a car, but there is a Chinky takeaway near to us. Anyway, it's a very nice day here, blue sky and very mild, so I will do battle with the leaves and then give the lawns a final cut, so bloody exciting it is.
