  1. Need to be fluent in Polish and Romanian to go shopping in our town.
  2. It seems like it is one now.
  3. Before I start, I ain't moaning, no point really. With the cost of gas, electricity, council tax and the other associated costs of living we cannot afford for our energy bills to rise any higher than what they are now, we are on the limit of what we we can afford to pay each month out of our monthly pension, having the heating on 24/7 is just not a option. And also the rise of the car insurance, which has caused us problems, but even though we do not use the car very much it is necessary that we have it available to use, that is why the scoot is off the road at the moment, and I will have to undoubtedly SORN it when the insurance is due next month. We live, we eat, and pay our bills, but there nothing left over in the kitty to pay higher energy bills.
  4. We will think about purchasing another dehumidifier for next Autumn/winter, 2 may do a much better job.
  5. Oh no not bottles, screwdrivers yes.
  6. its a place i have not been to for year's.
  7. Moist bet its full of dust and cobwebs nowdays.
  8. Yes I agree the lack of heating does not help one bit, we pay £150 every month, that is for gas and electricity, our electric part of the bill is not too high, we only have the tv and 1 light on in the evening, just the usual appliances in the kitchen (washer and fridge) nothing that eats electricity. We manage 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour at night with the heating on, any more than that and the bill skyrocket, in the evenings we just sit under a throw that goes over the settee, warm till you move.
  9. We have the dehumidifier working in the living room, I also leave the kitchen and bathroom extractor fans running, they (according to the guy that fitted them) don't use too much electricity, as soon as we awake I open the bedroom windows too. It is just a pain in the arse to keep wiping down walls and window frames with bleach every few days......roll on summer when it's warm and we can have the patio doors wide open, the mould will be very slow to bloom then.
  10. I was vaping before the mould started, but yes i agree it may be a contributing factor, but our neighbours vape and they do not have the mould problem. Maybe we should kick it in the head.
  11. The guy who came seemed thorough enough, but what do I know, I ain't a builder/plumber. He is returning in a month to treat the mould areas again.
  12. This bungalow too has loads of roof insulation, don't know about cavity wall insulation, windows are double glazed too. I do not leave any clothing or bike gear laying about, those are stored in what used to be our airing cupboard, pipes for the central heating pass through it, so it is dry and mould free in there, Think it will be a constant battle with the mould, something we will have to live with. In other news......got the insurance renewal for the scoot......it has gone from (roughly) £65 to £100...
  13. The housing association guys have been here a couple of times and painted on some evil smelling stuff, it is applied in 2 coats, the mould dissappears for around 2 months, then returns, as said, we have the windows open when the weather allows, to get some ventilation through the bungalow, one guy said leave the heating on 15c for 24/7, but that's unaffordable for us.. During the late spring, summer and early autumn the mould will be much less of a problem.
  14. It would be a nice day for a ride here, sunny, 11c and only a slight breeze blowing. But the bloody papers keep saying that snow is returning in the coming week.
  15. We have a extraction fan in the kitchen and bathroom, they are linked to the lights, turn the lights on, fan fires up. They have spent quite some time in the loft, found no evidence of leaks.
  16. It's airborne mould, they have done a examination of the roof, it is watertight, no sign of any water damage in the loft. We have the windows open in the effected rooms as often as possible, but obviously it is limited by the weather.

    Loobman

    Nope.....chains....lube.... lost on me?.
  18. For the 1st 10 years that we lived here we had no mould anywhere in the bungalow ,then around 2 years ago it just exploded everywhere.
  19. Yep...had the kitchen and bathroom ceiling replastered last year, got mould back in there, we also have mould around every window in the place, and it has spread to the hallway too, we are fighting a loosing battle, they come and put some shit on the mould, but it only keeps it away for a month or so.
  20. He is here now, it's gonna keep him busy treating the mould for a couple of hours, the place is like a swamp.
  21. Iam sat waiting for mould eradication team to come and do their thing.......should have been here at 8am.....10.30 and no sign of them........i could have stayed in bed.
  22. Whoooo! This is politics, I had better shut the fuck up.........Thank fuck Bender & Frier ain't on here.....or i would be out on my ear by now.
  23. I vote at the general elections, but like the National lottery, I never pick the winner (party) .......don't think I will bother at the next election.
  24. I have been outside washed the car.....and cleaned the inside too.....and put new wiper blades on....i need a sit down now. Oh and I walked to Tesco too.
