Pissing it down and cooler here today (15c) Still can't find my fleece.
-
17c and pissing it down here.........trying to find my fleece.
-
I think so, I turned the scoots lights on every hour or so till midnight, and this morning they are still coming on at start up, will make a better job of the earth lead to the frame when I get one. Car shop had a few in stock, but the post fittings are way to big, and the cables are about 4 times thicker than the scoots original earth lead.
-
I have done that with a temporary lead, just need a proper lead from the battery to the frame.
-
It ain't got (from what I can see ) a earth to the frame.
-
A Pendleton bike.....out of my price range.
-
Na not my shed, this is what it's like in my shed at this time of night....pitch black, no electrics.
-
I park my car as close to my shed door as possible, they may be able to get in the shed, but apart from the scoot and some oil and crappy old tools (important stuff is is our spare room) there is nothing in there worth nicking, but they can't get the scoot out, if they tried to move the car the alarm will go off, waking my wife up, I will hear nothing.
-
Tell me about it........before my AA stopped we could save a little each month.....now...Bugger all.
-
I think that is a good idea, with the engine moving up and down so much when travelling maybe it has damaged the cable internals. Will have a look on Flea Bay.
-
The original cable goes to the engine, it is bolted to the starter motor mounting lugs.
-
Only thing I can see is the scoots engine is mounted on rubber bushes, obviously because the engine swings up and down, I expected a earth on the frame and engine, but it only has the one cable that is earthed near the starter motor.
-
That is not what my wife says. Off to car accessory shop, see if they have a earth lead that is suitable to fit on the scoots terminals..
-
The earth cable goes to the engine, not other earth's as I can see, I am thinking about putting a earth cable to the frame as well, can't hurt surely.
-
The earth to the engine is a swine to get to. Hidden under a engine mounting, can't get to it with a socket & extension, can get a spanner on it, but no room to move the spanner to undo the bolt.
-
It could well be, i am going to check and clean the ones I can find.
-
I have a basic meter, but my problem is knowing what to test, battery and charging rate I am ok with, so not sure where and what else to test, I have a ( very small) wiring diagram in the handbook, but it means nothing to me.
-
I am going to start at the battery, check the connection, check the earth connections to the frame and engine, also put a new fuse in. I have put the battery on charge so it will be fully charged, just to eliminate the possibility that a low battery is causing the problem, and take the tupperware off so I can gain access to the ignition switch, which it is keyless, and check the wiring and connectors around that area.
-
Wonder if it's worth looking at the starter motor.
-
Passed its MOT at 9.30am........Fooked by 9.45am......at least it behaved during the MOT.
-
Headlight, 2 LED running lights, LED Rear light.....its like Blackpool illuminations when they are all on. Just been into the shed and the bastids came on ☺,,,turned it off, then back on................Nothing.
-
So in answer to Petes question "Will you use it Clive" The answer has got to be no, because besides it not having any running lights, it also has no brake lights.
-
Be better off asking Mrs. Pete for advice.
-
No joy with the lights, they will not come on at all now Checked the fuses...all ok. Checked the relays...only has one relay for headlight dip/main beam. Checked all the block connectors that I can see...all clean and free from corrosion. I am stumped as to what it is.
