It was time for a little fettle today after the weekend's trail ride. The first thing I noticed was the number plate light was loose so I set about that first. I looked behind the rear mudguard to find the fasteners and they were real cruddy and sure enough they both snapped off. That was no biggy but the fact that they were seized in the ferrules that they sit was a pain but I managed to punch them out ............... I cleaned the area up a bit and then tried to find something to replace the shitty stuff ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, You know when you find something and it's just perfect, well this was the day. I must have bought these over 15 years ago as I bought them to replace some items I had on my last Africa Twin............ a bit of red rubber grease around the grommets and then they were in .............. and that was that job done ......................

Woke up late, washed the Yamaha and she's up on the ramp now for a fettle. Going out for a meal tonight as my mother-in-law is 87 years old today .......

Please try and keep up Lionel. I have mentioned at least three times that Hammonds have closed on this forum. I even posted a photo with Dave Hammond after I bought their remaining stock of gloves ..............

So today was the day to get the little Yamaha out on the lanes so I planned a route for me and my mate Gaz (who lives in Redditch) to meet near Cirencester and do a loop of about 80 miles . The then anti was upped as Big Tone decided to join us on his brand new Gas Gas 700ES. I set off about 08.30 and made my way up to Badminton via the A46 and then some back roads.............. We were meeting at the AV8 cafe at Kemble airfield, it was definitely open this time as @Sir Fallsalot wasn't coming ............ and after a coffee and a sausage baguette we were off. We rode down the Fosseway and Gaz braved the ford while we watched .......... and on we went down as far south as Castle Coombe race circuit where we than turned east but with a stop for coffee from our flasks ........... Once we got to Startley we stopped pay our respects at the RAF memorial .............. Onwards through more lanes coverd in shit and puddles until we got to Fairford. We stopped in athe fuel station there for a lunch a la @Earache (where the hell is he ?) ............ After lunch we went North but Gaz got a puncture on the first lane of the afternoon................... Once it was sorted we carried on but spent most of the afternoon dodging showers . There were still some nice lanes though despite the soggy conditions.............. Once we got to the A429 Gaz headed off north to get back home while me and Tone dodged showers going south. The little Yamaha peformed faultlessly, I'm very happy with it. I just need to see if there is any adjustment on the rear shock but everything else was fine

Blimey, that takes me back . I used to deliver to the museum about 40 years ago . I also delivered to the contactors building the A4232 link road from the motorway near the museum before it was open, I drove up that road before it was open with no barriers etc

When the house next to us used to be rented out the renters were ringing cars in the garage. I used watch them changing plates on cars from my sons bedroom cos the dozy scroats were doing it at night with the lights on in the garage
