Well I've seen a few over the years....so I could probably fill this thread up with stories. One that springs to mind was a buddy of @Renegade........who I had the misfortune to be behind on a run back in 2003/4. Ren knew he was a total twat but didn't warn me! I won't name him on here but Ren knows who I'm talking about! So I'm behind this guy on country roads and whenever he sees chevrons way up ahead for an oncoming bend......he just slams the anchors on. So then he has to accelerate again to reach the bend.....and slams the anchors on again. Going into a bend (totally upright) he seems to drift from one side of the bend to the other for no reason. Then when you finally got through the bend you'd start to pick up speed again......and he slams the brakes on! For no fucking reason. But the final thing (which I'll never forget).....we get to a long straight of about a mile.....totally clear. And he waves frantically for me to overtake him! Nothing odd about that you may think? Well it is when you consider he was on an XJR1300 and I was on a TTR250!

12 in June? A few days ago @Sir Fallsalot was at breaking point cos it had reached 30? -
As I said earlier.......it's different things to different people. Some always like to ride in groups......I don't......I did enough of that in the 70's to last me a fucking lifetime. You meet up somewhere......and guaranteed some twats haven't fuelled. So we all have to stop at the first petrol station. Then some can't keep up and you're having to wait for them all the time. Stop and start continually! Then some twat breaks down (no recovery trucks or phones in those days).......you get going again and some twat falls off. Finally get to where you were going and somebody reckons it's shit and it was a wasted ride......so him and the guy who took us start scuffling. Go in a cafe and somebody sits on the jukebox and falls right through it and the Police get called. I could write a book on some of the stupid shit I've seen! That's why I go where I want, when I want, and at the pace that I want. And I don't have to keep checking my mirrors every two seconds to see what other twats are doing around me.

You've had it hot though haven't you Clive? We've got some odd weather coming for the second week of June.......normally it would be 30+ every day now. -

And that's the cheapest it's been since 2006. -

1.05 a litre for 95.......so about 4.50 a gallon. -
Wow! Very nice @Earache Just looking at those icicles hanging off the house......what sort of temp was that?

That's a short window of opportunity for riding @Earache........I'd go crazy. Here in Spain I can pretty much plan for it to be all year round. Jan/Feb can get cold......and July/August can get hot. But usually I'll be able to get out at some point.

That's one thing you don't see in Spain Ray.......musclebikes!

Funny thing I remember was about 20 years later going in a pub and I saw this skinhead twat there. Over the years he'd got fat and now had a bald shiny head rather than the stubby look he'd had. We were both around 40 by this time but he was still giving me "death stares". I guess some people never grow out of that tribal shit!

I would say that anybody who had bikes in Britain in the 60's and 70's would have been a part of that Bruce. It wasn't a matter of choice as it is now......it was a matter of survival. If you weren't in a group then things could get very nasty.......particularly if you lived in a big town or city with football teams.
-
Based on @BusBoy's criteria then everybody here is a Casual. Cos I don't think Ren is in a club anymore. But I gotta say, some of these Casuals seem to have a pretty comprehensive understanding and knowledge of motorcycles.
-
Absolutely amazing @Earache........and all that snow in June? ? Are you retired because it looks like you can get out most days? As for thread titles......go with the destination or area because that helps the site in terms of search engine indexing.

I thought "Pandemic" would be the word for this year?
-
So Ren is a biker.......but I'm not? Are you saying that being a member of a bike club is the defining factor then? Sort of like stitch a patch on your back and you're a biker? Seems a pretty odd criteria to me.....but ultimately I ride bikes because I like doing it, the social element is not a consideration in my case.
-
I think it's difficult to quantify it really.......because it's different things to different people. Like me and @Renegade ......he's always been into the club and rally scene. Whereas I've got no interest in that. I was always more into going to race meetings etc......the sport side of things. Whereas he wasn't. So it's a case of people participating in the elements of motorcycling that appeal to them. But, underpinning it all, must be a love of motorcycles. If you don't have that then you're not a biker in my opinion.

I think Wari is still on Gigabikes.......the one from 2003 that came before DSUK. It's still going (on the same version of the software by the look of it) but it runs behind closed doors.
