What I've been hearing is that Spain (after initially seeming to enforce the 90 day rule) are now turning a blind eye to it. A client of mine who's not a resident (despite living here longer than me) was told to leave 2 years ago. He's still here now and the authorities have never bothered him since. My boy left Spain in 2016, got residency in Poland (technically invalidating his Spanish residency) then returned last year and Spain has no knowledge of him having left or re-entered as no passports were ever stamped. Yes, in principle they could investigate and find him having gone through the airports when he did, but they can't disprove any assertion that he re-entered via car numerous times during that period. And knowing the Spanish as I do, they're never going to make work for themselves to try and ascertain what actually happened during that period.

Salobreña's nice I heard!

I didn't know the pair of them had an issue!

How many people would want to face that bureaucratic nightmare in Spain though? @Skippy couldn't get round it and that was just to import a bike! I'm sure it's more efficient in NL, Germany etc......but here? It don't bear thinking about! It would certainly stop me making the move that's for sure.

All that's been achieved is the retirement dreams of many Brits to move to Spain, France, Italy etc have been taken away from them. The vetting threshold is far too high for ordinary people. And it can also cause issues within families.....look at Bob's situation for example. His missus and his boy could move to Italy if they wanted......but he's going nowhere. He's stuck where he is. Now they may well not ever want to move to Italy.....but that's not the point. He had those rights and now he doesn't. If something happened to me......what's going to happen to the wife? She's not just allowed to move to NL as she would have been able to do. If that day arises my boy will sort something out, but it's still going to be an involved process. None of this affects the rich of course.....nothing ever does. Just working class folks like most of us here are.

I wouldn't sell that to get that basket case Sinnis!

That way doesn't work either unless you're under 16 I think.

I'm telling you the legal situation as it currently stands. If you can give me links to support your alternative POV then I'm all ears! You mentioned the right criteria? Do you know what that is? Well it's investing more than €500,000 in property in order to apply for a Golden Visa! Has @Six30 got a cool half million laying round? What about you and @busabeast? If none of you have.......then you won't be moving to Spain and living here in the way that me and @Skippy can. Your only option is to work around the 90 day rule like @Slowlycatchymonkey does.
-
Pity you voted to never be able to live there then? What you say @Slowlycatchymonkey?

I'd have no probs with a 125CC for offroading, but I think I'd feel pretty vulnerable on the road.

I'll add a bit about Rugby here! Bet you didn't know that I met Gareth Edwards many times in the mid 70's cos he worked just down the road from me in Dynevor Engineering in Neath. Used to see him in the cafe on Windsor Road at lunchtimes. Really nice down to earth bloke he was!

Being in Spain is suiting you then?
-
Are you doing Santander to Plymouth?
-
Why would you want a 125 Clive?
-
Well that's between them Bob.......we can't speculate on specific aspects of any Dogging that may or may not occur!
-
That forum is still going then?
-
I wasn't going to bite on that one! Too obvious!

Where you headed Bob?

My gripe about today is there's too many titles......and the main guys get kept apart until they've both got titles so it becomes a megafight. The recent fight between Crawford and Spence was an example of that! Everybody's waiting to see Beterbiev and Bivol at light heavy now, plus Usyk and Fury......but Fury's doing everything to swerve it. Some take years to happen like Mayweather and PacMan, and Canelo and GGG.......and unfortunately some never happen at all. Like Lewis and Bowe! But there is some amazing fighters out there......who would have dominated in whatever era they were in. Having said that, Sugar Ray Robinson is still the GOAT!

I'd like to see you make that point to Beterbiev! What you say @Six30?
