Perimetral lockdown back again......fortunately the town limits do go out into the really remote areas so I can get about a bit. We had this from mid Oct to early December then they lifted it. At which point the weather turned to shit so I couldn't go anywhere. So strictly speaking this is the same restriction that I've had for 3 and a half months. The bike mileage (kph) tells the tale.....Oct 1200, November 300, December 100, January 40. I'm now officially a.......

Thanks Chris! The background to this place is that this came about as a result of the hardcore lockdown early last year when the combination of being incarcerated and not able to ride for 9 weeks with only Facebutt to look at did my head in. Plus.....it gave me the opportunity to try and finally achieve what I wanted to do with DSUK in 2004......which was unfinished business in my book. Virtually everybody on here came from DSUK to MB (a few actually came from it's predecessors BZ and GB)........so MB was actually just a point on the journey, it wasn't what was planned as the original destination for DSUK. The original plan was for a UK/EU version of ButtRider.......and that's the objective here! This place isn't just for people with Adv Bikes.....it's for everybody. The person is more important than the bike. So put the word about where you can.....I'm sure there's plenty of others who've had a gutful of FB.

Thanks Lionel......so can you give me some insight on that? Why do you prefer forums? What do you get out of them? What sort of stuff appeals to you? What doesn't appeal to you?

We did get the influx of the old regulars during the April lockdown......and we managed to survive the post-Lockdown period. And I didn't think we would. The irony is that so many people moan about the continual shit on FB, but yet they don't change their habits. It's like they're addicted. Even the fact that FB have been proved to be selling off their personal info doesn't seem to bother them.

Why? What do you get out of it? What sort of stuff appeals to you? What puts you off using certain forums? What do bike forums give you that Facebutt can't? The reason for these questions is I'm trying to get more info on peoples' requirements and preferences, hopefully to promote this place in a way that will attract interest. Problem is this......we're battling Facebutt these days, not other forums. So we have to keep growing and moving forward......we can't just stand still. I feel that was a major factor on some of our previous incarnations.....complacency set in and we didn't advance as a forum. We kept doing the same old thing and didn't take Facebook seriously, and eventually we paid the price for it. And I openly admit that I have to share some of the blame for that. Now we know what we're up against......and it's about time we took back what Facebutt took from us 10 years ago! And we'll use their platform to do it for us! So any feedback you can give me would be great!
