    I always see Margaret Rutherford when I look at John Pertwee. He was my first Doctor Who, I missed the previous two (three if you count Peter Cushing).

    Anything after Tom Baker was slightly downhill. Between then and Sylvester McCoy was okayish, that bloke killed it. I did hear it had started again, but that is probably just a rumour.

    He was more than 50% Chinese, his real name was Leslie Charles Bowyer-Yin. America had something called the Chinese Exclusion Act which was to stop immigration of Chinese labourers. Although the act was repealed in the 30s, other blocks stopped large scale immigration till the mid 60s.

    Didn't watch it, wasn't really a fan of the original series either. I liked Danger Man better with Patrick Mcgoohan. Not so keen on The Prisoner which came later though. I also like the early black and white Saint series with Roger Moore. It went a bit downhill when it went to colour. Here's a quiz question for you. Why did the author of the Saint books Leslie Charteris get refused permanent American residency for many years? It's a shocking answer.

    That is usually true, makes my blood boil when they do it mostly as the original is usually still better than the remakes, But I stand by the Randall and Hopkirk remake, especially the addition of the Tom Baker character.

    That's finished reading the second part. Now to read part one, hope you make it to the beginning. I think you should write the history of the tower and chapel.

    Loving these, but being stupid I am reading part 3 first and now working my way through parts 2 and 1. I've saved that picture of Pedro and the large standing stone, it's got rude caption potential.

    I liked the original Randall and Hopkirk deceased, and also strangely, the remake by Reeves and Mortimer.

    Yeah, sorry, there are no pictures in the book. I can see it being made into a drama though.

    A book Pete might like is Who Sent Clement. Right up your street by Keith A Pearson. A bloke who died in the early 70s turns up to help a girl in modern Britain out when she is in trouble. He's still wearing the same clothes and doesn't even know himself how he got there. It was so good that I then read the two sequels and I believe there is a fourth out that I need to read. I think the best bit I enjoyed was when she takes him to a 70s theme night at the local pub.

    I'm currently reading the Mondo Enduro book (got the dvd second hand as well last week), The Winter King by Bernard Cornwell (re-reading, about my 10th time) and finally trying to read The Perpetual Astonishment of Jonathan fairfax by Christopher Shevlin, but I am getting bored with that. I usually have a few books on the go and swap about.

    I think I used to undo the radiator bolts and wedge it away a little. Been a long time so not sure any more.

    I've got a couple of the XRV OE spark plug sockets still. One rusted up badly through years in the bike tool kit, but they were very good for changing the 4 plugs on the AT, especially when teamed with a socket and ratchet. The pivoting part means you can almost remove a plug round a corner.

    Odd, you should discuss this today. I tried to test my battery voltage today using the heated vest plug wired into it. The two terminals are a fraction of a millimetre apart so of course I managed to bridge it with my tester points and heard the snick of the fuse blowing. Stupid plug design! So I popped the cover off the electrics to change the fuse and whilst I was in that region I took out the Yamaha tool kit for the first ever time to chuck it in a drawer for safe keeping. It had a spark plug spanner, and I usually find the ones that come with the bikes are the best. It was really wedged behind all the wiring, glad I did it in daylight!

    That's got me acclimatised for tomorrow's site visit to the Dinnegan boys to see how they've got on in the last few weeks without me. I shall now be able to understand them more easily.
