Looking forward to this report developing, and also your views on my country. There's a few reports here if you're looking for inspiration on where to go. Another tip, if you're carrying actual road maps, the best one for Morocco is the Michelin 742. As you know Morocco does not recognize Western Sahara as a country, so they confiscate everything that goes against that. Just pack your map under your clothes or somewhere not in open view when you open your luggage and they probably won't take it. Or just censor it so that it is not sellable on the street behind the customs by the same people that confiscated it in the first place

Does she have a phone mount on her handlebars, to put navigation on her phone? Good on you for saving the night! Bet it felt good that she called you instead of the boyfriend?

You have to ask AI to make the bike parts not match in colour.

This is funny but completely real. A friend of my brother teaches in a californian university. Two days ago the administration sent out a message to all students saying that the elections might not go as they were expecting, and that emotional support would be provided for free for whoever felt they needed it.

Nevermind him. He was just being racist.

Pretty hard price negotiations going on before they agreed to meet more or less halfway between 955 and 950

Suzuki's New 2025 DR-Z 4S/SM - New Life for the DR-Z Line?

Something like adding a modern exhaust and injection to the old one, or is it much more than the old one? -
In Europe I would just stop on Vodafone shops and buy prepaid cards. In Morocco, you want Inwi. In Tangier you can buy one easily as you get out of the harbor and into town, any communications shop sells them all over the country. You can them go to any phone or convenience shop all around the country and charge it up using money over the counter, no fuss or need to register. Inwi has great reception and fast data in places where you would think you wouldn’t.

Scrambler with 130mm suspension travel? -
It exists, Wiesmann: It’s a really cool coachbuilder in Germany and it’s so cool everyone on the BMW board drives one. The ones powered by an S54 and manual box are dreamy, nazis have great taste is cars!

That's probably what I meant. Except involving just the heads done and not the pistons.

It's not a complete over haul, it's had the timing chain replaced and valves turned and head cleaned. The bottom end is untouched, which in a boxer engine is the middle end? The gearbox bearings and stuff: I'll take the fault for that, using it off-road while sometimes downshifting like on a motocross bike with no clutch, and in heat and heavy dust and moroccan silt All in all, it has led a hard life, between difficult fuel, hard use in dusty and hot conditions, etc. But it'll be back for more, I love that bike. The thing is, considering what motorcycling has done to my mental health over the last 6 years, riding this bike has probably saved my life. It's been more than a therapist, so I want it alive and well and ready for more. It'll see 200, 300 or 400.000km, as it won't be with me until I stop.

It's on 122.000km, not too much but I think I have hurt it going two up on bad fuel in Morocco in high altitudes. I heard it pinging a little and it went away after fueling up (this happened a few times), so I suspected fuel quality at the time, it's been a while since.

You haven't got full mastery of your own thumbs in 60 years, or English, or French!

Only thing I regret is not having had the shocks sent for refurbishment when the bike was stopped, that would have saved the next lay over in a year or two, but who was to know it was a going to take so long (including the dude going through the flu), but maybe I'll have a talk to an Ohlins guy and see about a replacement for the Touratech shocks I have been told sell for good money online.

So, update on the mighty GS. Clutch rattle. Following clutch rattle and no clutch issue being obvious, an updated gearbox bearing kit was ordered, taking apart the gearbox to get it ready for the bearing kit, a flaw was noticed on one of the sprockets on the gearbox's output shaft. Taken apart, and no replacement found in the neighboring dealerships amongst loose parts, a replacement was ordered. Since then, we took the change to inspect timing chains and tensioners, to be replaced, and since were at it the cylinder heads came off to do it. Since they're off to do it, let's take them apart and decarbonize the heads (don't know how to say it in english apart from clean them up), turning valves and make it extra nice with a little polish here and there. We're now on a little bit of a creeper mission, BMW has made it longer with nothing ever being in stock. Everything was supposed to be ready for assembly today, but my guy took a little longer on one head than was expected as the exhaust valves were needing extra work, I suppose a lot of Moroccan fuel might have something to do with it. I'm counting on a little bit faster and stronger engine after all is done, ready to go into the 200.000kms with confidence. Watch this space. I would have paid my bike a few visits over the last few weeks, but with Costa the puppy being so sick he has (and always will) taken priority. He's doing better than two days ago, jumped out of human beds yesterday night after farting on them mid sleep, today peed against things holding a rear leg up, and barked at the scent of an enemy dog he didn't see but smelt, all progress!

Maybe you should check my comments there, are you even an admin? Yes, I've got a bike, come and chase it a week or two from now

If it's not weeping from the output shaft after a few kms, a Transalp is as bulleproof as it gets, along with your CBF you'd own the team to be the cockroach of motorcyclists if there ever is a nuclear doomsday. I like your choice of bikes that peak your interest. There's no GS, but nobody is perfect.

OK, so there's a ride report, nice. Two wheeled therapy

You're taking the chance that the wife is in the hospital to have a snooze? WTF? You're deaf, what does it matter if she's in or not to sleep on a normal day? Have a wank or go out on the scooter, or just play loud music to annoy the neighbours.

Ride report? Didn't happen.

Welcome! Now that's an introduction! I'm Portuguese, and I've been to Morocco a few times. If you feel like you're in need of guidance to settle on a route feel free to ask, although my advice is to play it by ear. Christmas in Portugal is usually a nice time to be on a motorcycle as if it's cold and dry it's beautiful and not so cold, but January in Morocco you´ll maybe face proper weather and proper cold if you go through mountains, it'll also get chilly in the desert. I aprove on your choice of motorcycle!
