Walnuts work well, as do almonds, pistachio as well, each with a different twist. But surprisingly, old hard bread turned to crumbs on a blender are a great substitute for nuts, proper italian old school cooking with nothing. A couple of mint leaves in the green pesto also work well, if you have them fresh.

We usually try and avoid it

They derestricted restaurant hours a couple of days ago here, people were cravingfor sitting outside after dinner with a cool wine and chatting happily, you can tell by the mood people are appreciating it.

Arriving to Faro by train yesterday night, I caught an Uber across town, and was amazed at the amount of people on the streets. Tens of motorcycles where there’s usually half a duzian, most restaurants have expanded outside because of capacity restrictions inside, every single chair occupied, people eating and drinking and having fun, and lots of people walking around… I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a busier night here except one time there was a concert. It’s nice watching people have fun but I hope it doesn’t blow in our faces.

All this talk of DR isn’t really fair or helpful on poor Dog, fighting to live for ages while dealing with oil starvation while Fred tries to kill it on some god forsaken mud pits

Somewhere in this thread there’s portobello mushroom spaghetti, I like it too. And thank you very much!

Couple of days ago, with little brother. Chorizo as entree, and cow’s rib with white rice and tomato salad, the roasted pepper was half eaten with the meat, and half of it left soaking in olive oil and garlic for deliciousness a couple days later.

Linguini with basil pesto, dried nuts were scarse at home so it’s got a weird mix of almonds and walnuts, with a couple of cashews. Would doubled on the garlic and tripled on the black pepper but since I’m cooking for mum I toned it down. Consistency and cremosity (?) was ideal!

Hurrah for the Dog pulling out of recovery!

This isn't a modern hospital by any means, and the emergency service is notoriously bad.

Were you expecting something from the middle ages?

Indeed. Turns out he had 4 cracked ribs, a small laceration on the liver (which was fixed) and a punctured spleen, which was taken out this morning. Now he's on the surgical recovery and shall remain there for a few days. Fuck knows how he managed this shit falling from a stepladder. My plans for August have drastically changed Nice! Plenty of excitement outside, though Also saw an old Buick going to the supermarket, all the way from Sweden!

Turns out my dad is a twat. He checked himself out of hospital last time after the fall, before they did an x-ray on him because he was tired of waiting. Fair enough, he had been there for 6 or 7 hours, but turns out he has a broken rib with some complication because of how it broke. He had some sort of surgery from yesterday to today, and is doing ok, that’s all I know because the hospital is on lockdown because of covid. Mum will visit today and talk to a doctor from doctor to doctor. She’s in a state, so I’ve been shopping for groceries in the morning, light lunch, etc I can see this going for a few days, and my bike is 300 miles away.

Babes like fuel additive to make stuff run clean? -
Look who’s talking! Runs great, though, and it’s not the high speed one. The high speed one didn’t stop on my town for a couple of hours more and I was in a rush. This is the high speed one, it could cruise at well over 200kmh but is limited by the tracks, that and for some reason trains can’t overtake other trains? Previous governments planned on bringing the TGV here, what a waste of money that would have been, building new tracks across the country to gain 20 minutes on a 300km trip. Someone lost big when that plan was aborted, and it wasn’t the taxpayer.

Nice vein work, hope he makes it.

@Clive, costing me 55€ to do a one way trip that would have been 500km in a motoway, in first class, which isn’t really first class. Taking way longer, and a half hour stop to change trains in Lisbon, but I don’t think I can really complain about the price. I don’t get the thing about trains, but then again some people don’t get the thing about bikes either so there you go. Took care of a british dog while he patiently sat next to me while his human went to the wc, that put a smile on my face. After 5 and half hours wearing a mask, I took to the restaurant wagon for an expresso at sunset as an excuse for a breather

You never seen a train? It’s like several buses put together
