  1. Just to add to the mass of men with an opinion, what exactly is the intent of this bike, will it go on motorways for any distance? Would you like sporty or smooth, engine wise? Ideal cruising speed?
  2. I think this is a case of mansplaining
  3. Yellow really suits that Fazer, is that the 1000 @Swagman? Must be a fast bike! Is the Tracer a 900 triple @Catteeclan? Never rode one but they sound naughty.
  4. It was a joke, obviously you wouldn’t
  5. Very nice, I like that a lot. but did you buy it over three decades ago, and was it made by old Samurai master swordsmiths? If not, @boboneleg still rules
  6. That's a stop with a proper view! Great stuff! Similar to that I've only had Monchique int he Algarve, it's probably higher but a lot farther from the shore too so it looses some of the impact.
  7. Love that, and it looks like you have the right bike too

    Pedro's food

Rain stopped for enough time for me to get some coal going and cook a couple of nice cow ribs Not very well done, but that's just my taste Had a couple of bottles of a friend's gift of some local farmer's young wine, not EU quality seal, but I approved anyway ... :
  9. Just get on The Dog when it's time to take trash out, you'll do fine down those steps. Or just put some anti slip stuff there, for all of us who car for you.
  10. Fair enough, just keep in mind @Sir Fallsalot is apparently still this age / I am a little under the influence, I love you guys!
  11. Where's that naked Namibia picture, again
  12. I know, but usually I would say that the strongest of advices comes from people who just worry about the guy and might not be into bikes or the activity at all, and just wish one to be sat on the sofa watching tv, as it's "safer" to die from cholesterol than from a broken knee on the side of a mountain.
  13. I think you're purposely not getting my point. It's not the fall that kills you, like against traffic. Minor stuff happens offroad more likely than onroad, but then you might be immobile an exhausted in a remote location, and hurt. In winter in some places, you might not make it the night, in summer you might not make the day in others, that's why it's risky. It's a different risk altogether.
  14. Don't play the hero, Pete, you asked why people ask Fred to not ride alone offroad. Offroad being the point here. The answer is because it's easier to injure yourself in a place where there is no visibility. Same why it's advisable to be with someone when rock climbing, or hiking in deserts or snow, etc, doesn't make it not doable and not enjoyable, but you are accepting the risks by doing so.
  15. I bet any tool Pete has will outlast yours, and no need to be made in Japan either.
  16. Agreed, but you don't ride offroad really. A dirt road doesn't count, either. I am not against riding alone, it's all I do! But still it's natural for people that care to advise against it.
  17. Remember Tym's adventure with a broken leg? That's why.
  18. A tip for cleaning the glass on furnaces or fireplaces: Get a wet sponge and dip it in the dry ashes, and use that to scrub the glass like you would with window cleaner. Do it a couple of times and just wipe it off with a cloth or paper, you'll have a clean glass with no scratches and won't have to deal with nasty poisonous products.
  19. I would carry one of the spray can fixes, though, if wearing a bike with tubes and luggage, apart from an extra tube. Having said that, I don't carry anything on the XR, putting my faith on the heavy duty tubes and being able to slowly ride home with a flat. I have for a little once and it did ok. That and a well charged phone ...
  20. I look into that like if it was a window and it looks like there's a brown bear with his nose against the glass looking in. I have only drank water so far today...
