  1. 90% of the maintenance needed is because of 90% of the maintenance done.
  2. Not really, she tried to play the busy card.
  3. That's how a man does it, though. In which case it would be an exit, not a flounce.
  4. Harley has more motorcycling knowledge than most brands, and research everything, they surely knew the first Indian inside out before it came out. The reason they have low horsepower engines is because they want to, they believe that bike is what achieves the best compromise between selling the most bikes, with the biggest yearly profit, and doing the product they think they should and that their clients identify with. Look at the adventure bikes, although they look the way they do, engines are supposedly very good.
  5. How long are the belts and tensioners good for?
  6. I am not very computer oriented, can't cope with an iPad. I bought one with the keyboard a while ago, specifically so it could travel on flexible bags better than the laptop, but it just made everything really hard to do. Simple things like having a spreadsheet open and working on that while writing an email at the same time while looking at both, and maybe copying a few cells onto the email. Stuff like that became so complicated I just gave up and gave it to my brother. Now, on top of all that I also update a few files from a server that only works with Microsoft so have a modulator to do that. The new 13 being overall smaller sounds good to me, good times ahead!
  7. Well, it is decided, then. Laptop shall turn 10 and then get replaced. I’d like to see a 12 inch come along to give that a look, though.
  8. I have been looking forward to Apple coming out with another 12 inch one, the 13 inch lives snug inside my panniers but a smaller one would be more insulated and maybe allow for soft luggage. In actual work it would probably suck, though.
  9. Indeed, Saul! Such cool memories for the both of you. When I learned how to ride, my favourite exercise and something that really grows your understanding of how a motorcycle works is U turns both ways on a slope. Doing them going uphill where the bike doesn’t lean, and downhill where it leans a lot relative to the ground, really forces you to learn the difference in how a bike turns when leaned and not leaned.
  10. He chose a GS for motorways. What a twat!
  11. He wouldn’t. His riding was sitting on a motorway to get to Paris or Strasbourg or wherever. Plus, he rode a GS. That’s handicap enough to win.
  12. Been meaning to ask you: my macbook air is 9 years old now, it’s not led an easy life since it’s been a passenger on most of my touring and most weekend rides, including all the extreme heat that goes with often going to southern Portugal inside a plastic box. It got a new battery 3 or 4 years ago, but is starting to need another, I never felt that the replacement matched the original. Now, I’m determined to make it last 10 years of use, and it will, but after that would there be a rebuild that should be done or am I better with getting a new faster better one, will it in fact be better? There’s things that will start to fail slowly on this one, like the charging port magnet, the left caps key, plus it could do with being faster connecting to wifi and dealing with the windows modulator that I use to update an excel spreadsheet from a spanish server. It could be the spanish server fucking it all up, for being spanish, but it’s also a 9 year old laptop on this side. The question, new macbook air when this one turns 10? It’s got cool stickers you see
  13. Pay no regards to this welshman, @Tango, the twat fell victim to his own self grandiosity and needed the collective to beg his exalted illuminated self to stay and lead us towards the light. So he left, entirely on his own. The ride report section will never be the same, though.
  14. Oh poor you! Your street cred … amongst the gays?
  15. I like that Kove guy, he’s a true Dakar enthusiast. He’s hands on running around the paddock trying to support everyone. Doesn’t make up for the first mirror he tried to get out didn’t come out.
  16. Can you comfortably work inside the steel garage or is it weather dependent?
  17. Quite the climax
  18. Where would you go, though?
  19. I am curious, every manufacturer of big trail bikes has thought steel is the right material for frames and rear frames and overall ruggedness. Then comes Kove and, because lightweight …
