Well I asked the question last week about a phone mount for my bike and the consensus was Quadlock is the one to have. Some money later I had a mount and vibration damper on my bike. Works very well and holds the phone securely. Anyway I went for a mini bimble today to try it out. I decided to follow the directions exactly just to see how I got on with the Nav software (I used Apple Maps but will experiment with others) first impressions was that it is vastly superior to the RE Tripper I had on my Himalayan. Just so much easer to use, I dare say user limitations may be a factor but I found my current set up so much better. First off I went to St Aweful (Austell) to pay a cheque in for my eldest daughter’s birthday then went on to Dameralls to look at the shiny. I will post some pics in another thread. I had a mooch around and then decided to go on to Thor motorcycles to look at some more shiny. The directions were just as easy to follow as my cars sat Nav even though I couldn’t hear anything. Thor stocks Shoei helmets and they had a Glamster in my size in Laguna Blue, I only got out of there without it using all the willpower I had. I think the Quadlock is excellent But a little fiddly to use, I think that will get easier the more I use it. The vibration damper doesn’t help clipping on and off but it definitely does it’s job. Even though my bike is pretty smooth the phone gets shaken by the Road surfaces. I think the Quadlock is worth the money, even though it’s a bit spendy, there are copies available but I don’t think the saving is worth risking a phone loss. Even though I used one of my kids old cast offs I still don’t want to throw it down the road.

Not yet, I was given a spring by a mate (1.5mm buy 145mm) and I got the stand on again last Friday and tried it but it was too weak to hold the stand up. Gonna order a spring the slightly bigger but made with thicker wire. I have found a place that stocks all sorts of springs for industrial applications so I should be able to order exactly what I need. Honda dealer would only supply the main stand kit completely for £190, lot of money for just a spring. On my mates bike the spring in its shortest position on the bike with the stand up was 185mm and made of 3mm wire. Now I am guesstimating that if I order a stainless steel spring 30mm shorter I should be in the ballpark. But I will have to go back to the website and check the parameters needed to order one. The steel spring that came with the stand was 145mm x 3mm but there was just next to no give in it, short of using a trolley jack I couldn't stretch it in any way, and that was bloody sketchy.

That is how I think about it and probably why I bought a Honda. I wanted an Interceptor or Bonnie type of bike but knew I would be forever messing with it, I just want to ride now.

I watch Missenden Flyer, I found the tale of his Custom Interceptor quite amusing in a cruel way, fool and his money. Haven't seen MotoBob or RocketMan yet, will have a look. Darcy and the Old Man are ok, I find the Old Man a bit up himself but will watch it.

I don't know if I lost my biking mojo but I was 9 years without a bike through life events (3 Kids) that left money tight for awhile. Sort of age creeping up on me made me go back to biking as I thought if I don't do it now I never will.

Or mudguards which they need judging by the amount of shit she has up her back.

Apparently it's a 10 year old Cob called Blackberry, that's all I know. I never go near the bloody things, does not stop them sending me photos to worry about though Tis a daughter mother thing

She has been bleddy well been at it again. Oh and for my blood pressure I have to stop fussing as she only fell off twice. Or so she tells me. FFS. And this is the one that wants a bike. Laughed at the boy today, he went to the pictures with his mates and rode home in the rain and dark He comes in ranting “What the actual fuck, how are you supposed to see” I explained to slow down and try and look away when you’re being dazzled. He thought I was a dick for laughing and saying that rain and dark are part of biking and you just have to deal with it.

I was looking at his head in the pictures and thought he had some Staffie in him, but didn't want to say so in case he was some rare breed that I hadn't encountered before. Very handsome dog just the same.

That is a stunning piece, haven't just sat and listened to it for years. I know what I am going to be listening to on my shift tonight

Costa is a lovely looking dog, is he a specific breed or just a happy mix.

Wow I would have that Beta every time over a CT. But each to their own I do think the CT is cool.
-
That is true but if you were thinking about it that way would you really use it as intended. Not sure I would, perhaps I just need to stop thinking like a tight wad.

Slick Legging I reckon

I really like them but that price tag is eye watering. Suppose if I had plenty of spare cash I would, but nearly £5k is a lot for a 125. Think it would be a Benly for me.

When I sat on one it reminded me of my old R65 in terms of size and weight. I think bikes are just mostly physically bigger now as has been said already.

I went through a similar thing with my Son last August. In the end, for us, the best option was to buy a new Sym Orbit 125. Everything we looked at was knackered with at least one thing broken. The Sym isn't fantastic quality but has proved reliable so far and has survived my son coming off twice. To be honest it's ok to ride, would never be my choice but it is functional transport, what it will be like when its 3 years old will be interesting. Twas £2.5k but a decent Honda was £1K more. I think you will be lucky to find a decent second hand twist and go for reasonable money just by the owner profile. Geared bikes are a different matter or so I observed.

R90/6 or S can't really see. Very cool bike either way.

Singing up the Crown Inn Lanlivery tonight, then working from 23:00. Watching the 6 nations and working for the rest of the weekend. Cold and gonna piss down here so I doubt I will be commuting on the bike.
