  1. Started my weekend off cleaning the bikes with Shadow. Well she just about managed to do her own but she is keen and willing to learn. Got her checking her chain/oil/tyre pressures. I also cleaned the Hornets and even did my boys ped. Came up surprisingly well considering it was covered in green algae. Skanky tit.
  2. Start a poll, you know everybody loves a poll
  3. Yep too True. This mornings on bike chat was about safe filtering, hopefully in didn't go in one ear and out the other.
  4. Just back from the college run, Shadow starts today. Only in St Awefull but the joys of rush hour in there are something I'm not used to. Traffic everywhere, mind you an excuse to get out on the bike, gotta do it all again at 4:00pm. Think I will be glad for October and her birthday to come around so she can do it all on her own.

Can you fit LED bulbs? Made a real noticeable difference on my CBF.

    Dark

My commute this time of year sees me riding into work in the dark. Don't mind really as both my bikes have decent usable lights. But add into that wind rain and fog and things are not so much fun. Riding in tonight had all 3 and was down to 50 mph on the A30 as I just could not see. I must say the CBF is very stable in cross winds, pretty planted given the strength of the gusts, not sure the Hornet would be so. Anyway I was thinking what the fuck am I doing this for, love biking but conditions do have an impact. Felt like the car would have been the better choice tonight. I am sure my morning run home will make up for tonight's discomfort. Anyway to the question do many of you habitually ride at night or avoid it?

Everytime, but being technically good isn't always that much of an advantage if you can't hold your temper. Wind your opponent up and he will spend more time trying to hurt you than getting his technique right then you have him. I agree though if you control the looseheads elbow, clamp his arm, break his bind he is going up or down, if his feet are wrong, and it's your penalty, also he won't be able to stop you boring in on the hooker ruining his day. A good tighthead will give your team a massive advantage, it's why they get paid the big buck nowadays. You will take a few digs for it but dominate the front row, charm the ref, and the games is yours most of the time. Especially in the lower leagues. Look at Julian Whites showreel. Some bleddy boy even if he is from Devon.

I did too, played across the front row for 25 years or so. Tighthead was my favourite position, more opportunity to be an awkward fucker. Age, experience and sheer bloody mindedness, all a props friend. Being strong is a factor but being vicious and sneaky are too. I miss rugby, last time I played was when I was 42, 59 next week.

The BFG. I used to play rugby with a guy we called the BNG, he thought it was for Big Nasty Ginger, it wasn't, to us he was Big Nosed Ginger. Obviously not to his face as he was an evil fucker on the pitch.

    Pedro's food

I don't mind tinned fish. Especially like tinned mackerel, lovely snack straight from the can. I have heard of Surstromming but never smelt, don't want to change that really.

We do occasionally get snow but don't ever remember it being that bad. I think there was an event in the 1960s. I think for my situation living on narrow peninsula has an effect on the weather.
  13. To be fair there aren't that many here. I think there are about 4 Local Authority Houses left in Fowey. No council estates but originally there were four roads in the town that contained the bulk of the Council Houses but not exclusively, always were private houses as well so all roads had a Posh end.

It occasionally drops to 0 to -3 centigrade in the winter. Commonly ride then but no colder as the roads get too slippery. I live in the far south west so prolly warmer here than most of the UK.

Have you ever ridden the Busa far enough to get cold hands?
  16. I think I find him difficult as he is typical of the Hoorays that move here or buy holiday homes here and try and change the place. In fact that is just what his parents have done. They move here and complain about everything from church bells to roosters, I would rather they went back to the sirens and stabbings that drove them here in the first place and changed things there.
  17. Great report Pedro, that was just what I needed after my nightshift.
  18. I did, always pleading poverty but had no problem stumping 14 grand for his Wrangler. Good luck to him but he is hard to like as a human being.
  19. What you all doing then? Nothing exciting from me, working overnight tonight and Sunday. Not much planned apart from that. Taking the CBF to work tonight, always a fantastic ride home in the morning from Launceston Hospital. Might got for a spin on Sunday if the weather is something like it.

Yes it's looking that way for a few weeks. But she has started College now so only available Monday or Friday. I have just bought her a set of winter riding gear, decent Jacket, waterproof over trousers, Drystar Gloves and some Gortex lined boots. I can see heated grips are going to be on the agenda to. Oh and some steel toe cap safety boots and 2 x cargo working trousers, as she wants to learn Carpentry and Roofing. Been a spendy week, one saving is that small riding gear doesn't cost as much.

Not yet it's not her birthday until 18th of October so the bike is firmly locked in the shed at the top of the garden. We have had the 'who will know' discussion several times but I'm not going to let her start her biking on the wrong foot.
