We know the astronaut wouldn’t cook because, well … physics. A page or two back you posted a few memes on why NASA hadn’t been to the moon, two of them have been easily disproved. Does that not make you question the veracity of the others which are bandied around to support your argument? If further arguments are disproved are you just going to keep trawling the net for more ad infinitum? We could still be having this discussion in 10 years because there are literally millions of “it can’t be true because of xyz” arguments out there. When I was writing my post above I was wondering if you were serious in your posts or just trying to get a reaction, hence the content, but oh wow, you really do seem to believe it. since you have been rattling on about cooking lamb I suggest you do a bit of research about the physics of heat transfer. When you put your dinner in the oven there will be a heater somewhere in there which heats up the air in the oven and fan to circulate it around your leg of lamb. Leg of lamb is in direct contact with hot air and heat transfer occurs by conduction. There is no atmosphere on the moon so there is no medium to allow heat transfer by conduction. The ambient temp in space is close to absolute zero. When you step out of shadow into sunshine the heat you are feeling is the suns radiation, much like putting your hand under an infra red lamp or those radiant heaters you see outside pubs. Next time you are out for a beer try putting a bit of a Mylar heat blanket between you and the radiant heater. Surprise surprise you will find the heating effect disappears. Anything light coloured or reflective with achieve broadly the same effect. Space suits contain multiple layers of reflective material just for that purpose, and its occupant will be wearing clothing containing water tubes the circulation of which can be adjusted by the wearer to heat or cool as required. Have a look at the design of the James Web telescope ( unless you think that is a conspiracy too). For it to function correctly the telescope side needs to be as close to 0 kelvin as possible. The other side which faces the suns radiation is 400k or so. To get from 400k down to 40k or so all you need are 5 layers of very reflective Mylar type material. Body temp at 37c is 310kelvin.

I’d love to spend a few days seeing the Normandy beaches, it’s on my list of things to do, though prob not by bike as the boss will want to take the dog. if I had my way looking at the Somme battlefields and commonwealth memorials would be a mandatory part of the school curriculum. Too many kids today have no idea what their great grandparents went through and the utter futility of European wars.

The Finns in particular have always been very conscious of their neighbour to the east. They still have national service and for such a small country they have a very capable military. Once you have done your military service you are rotated back through the system every so often for refresher training. Finland is one of my favourite places to visit, but for bloody Brexit I would have happily retired there.

Given the turbulent airflow at the back of the bike as a result of the rider being in front of it I’m surprised it will any effect whatsoever. Stick it on a road bike with a lardy Sunday morning rider in front of it and it will have less than no effect except on the dealers bank account.

It will doubtless be illegal here as it’s not propelled by peddles so can’t be classed as an e-bike and we are 10 years behind the rest of the world on e-scooters.

Is the tent thing somehow anchored to the deck? I have a cover for my lawn mower ( because the garage is full of toys and there is no room in there any more) but the damn thing blows away in a mild breeze. I’ve had to tie it down in all the shit weather we’ve had recently.

To clarify, I wouldn’t expect to ride the exact bike in buying, but if I’m getting a cb1000r I do want to ride one. When I got my FTR I rode one at a dealership near me but they didn’t have a used one that suited me so I bought one from a dealership in Edinburgh and had it delivered. Sorry if I wasn’t clear.

I think it must vary according to the insurance the dealership hold. I rode an MT09 and MT10 no problem at one, a speed triple at another but the Honda said no (6pts). In fairness they did call their insurers to try to swing it but computer says no. I don’t have any problem with that, after all it’s my own fault for having the points. I did really like the look of the Honda and it was a good fit but I am not going to buy a bike I can’t try. I have 1 and a bit years till they expire and I can’t wait. First time in my life I’ve ever had 6 ( and I had zero for 10+ years before these) and it’s a pain in the bum.

It was a 21 plate. I’m pretty tall so feel a bit cramped on some but this felt ok. Bloody annoying I couldn’t try it.

I’ve just acquired an MT09, and was seriously considering a CBR1000. Really nice bike but the dealership wouldn’t let me test drive the one I was interested in as I have a few points on my licence The 125 was a nice bike but I only used it once every few months to keep everything working. My wife was initially enthusiastic about doing her CBT but as with many things, never got around to it. I have aspirations of a third bike, possibly another Indian, and lack of garage space dictated the 125 had to go…

Used to have, it’s gone now. it was a 125 I kept as my wife was making CBT noises, but never got round to it so flogged it.
