I second what Sir F says, the combination of heated grips and bay muffs is the ultimate solution for hands. I managed for years with winter gloves and the standard handguards on the transalp ( I wasn't commuting every day though) but the Tiger had heated grips ( which is good cos the handguards are not as good as the old square transalp ones were at keeping the wind and rain off) and when I rode down the the Mille Vaches winter rally a couple of years ago I added bar muffs, (cheap ones from Lidl) and rode through some of the worst weather I have ever faced on a bike with lovely warm hands.

Got hme at 01h00 this morning and slept till 11. it's now pissing down outside and about 4 or 5 deg c. I'd planned to clear out the shed of all the clutter accumulated over the summer in order to get the bike back into it's winter quarters. It lives outside under a cover during the summer and under the shed/Shelter and cover over winter. I need the weather to be dry for thos so im sitting on me arse drinking coffee and typing this.

today I have dealt with a dealer wanting to replace the comm module on a segway SSV because it won't connect to the "blue toof" on his telephone and another who, in response to my request for photos to support his request for a replacement engine ( ie photo's of the damage) sent me a photo of the complete quad chassis... with no engine in it. I can't decide if he's a clown or a moron.

well I think they've got that wrong. They'll make fuck all sales through peugeot. Peugeot don't make motorcycles, they make cars and mobylettes neither of these demographics will be interested in a motorcycle, even less so a reborn and unproven English make that they've never heard of. The only French people who've heard of BSA are motorcycle enthusiasts and they don't frequent mobylette shops. this is the full range of peugeot "motorcycle" products in france https://www.peugeot-motocycles.fr/gamme

because I am angry enough as it is and don't want to have to deal with their constant mindless stream of complete shite. ( and that isn't even Tym...) however, though I can ignore his posts and replies to posts, the site still shows me the threads he starts threads, is there anyway I can ignore a fucktard completely?

we're just outside the zone too, but as we go down to Lyon regularly and will be going to stinking hell the UK and back for Christmas we'll be crossing zones where they are obligatory so i've had "all season tyres fitted" but still don't know if they count or not...

you really need to get out more... nearly everybody I know both in france and the UK I met through bikes. Other than that it's family or work colleagues. 3 couples of friends here are not bike related but in 2 of them the guys ride.

it used to be absolutely normal for men to go arm in arm of holding hands, but then there was a huge public trial of Oscar Wilde in 1895 for gross indecency and sentenced to 2 years hard labour. That alterered the public perception of any kind of open display of affection between men and is probably the reason for the english being such prudes today when it comes to sexuality or even nakedness in public.

lazy day today, had friends overnight on friday night, was round another friends till I had to pick up the twins from the skating rink at midnight and then drive 30 odd k and back again through thick fog to drop one of their friends home. walked to the boulangerie and back this morning for bread and the sky is think with flights of grey cranes heading south so I guess a cold snap is on the way.

september 2015. climbing up the Forclaz pass from Chamonix to Marigny, around Vallorcine. I stopped to switch from summer gloves to winter ones as the temperature was falling as the altitude was rising.

@XTreme ,you would have pissed yourself laughing had you been a fly on the wall on monday morning in the office, it was my first day "solo" ( ie without the guy I am replacing who'd nursed me through the first month desperately trying to teach me how to use excel properly) I nearly had a fucking panic attack when I realised that about 3 of the automatic links in the spreadsheet werent working and I had no clue as to why or how to fix it.

I used to sail with a load of the Essex county fire brigade back in the day and I remember some of them talking about doing their DEV ( Driving Emergency Vehicles) assesment, which they all referred to as the " Driving with Extreme Violence"

never had any problems with windows 10 and i'm a self confessed technophobe luddite without a clue how any of it actually works. Ive started using windows 11 at work now but dont really see any differences apart from a few functionalities that are slicker and more ergonomic. Having said that, it obviously wasn't me that installed it or set it up...
