Long wheelbase VW Transporter Bob, During the first lockdown i was working in Llanelli, the M4 was empty so i ramped the cruise control up to 100mph and left it there, didn't touch the accelerator or brake pedal from Cardiff to port Talbot never been able to do that before LOL, The van was totally stable and cruised effortlessly, Vans have come a long way from when i first started working.

Have you been taking elocution lessons from Tym on that last line
-
No me everything i've seen or driven either have a lever or flappy paddles to shift with manually
-
Yes my works van has one of the newer auto boxes as in doesn't have a torque converter but a 7 speed duel clutch transmission which you can switch between manual and auto, In manual you can change down the gears and it will hold the gear you've selected but its not a true manual as it will change up or down automatically if the revs get too high or too low to protect the engine and transmission from damage.
-
Don't leave it in drive you can down shift an auto manually and it stays in that gear. I used to go down some real steep stuff in my Toyota surf purely on engine braking no problem

Looks like me and Tym are the losers this month

Its not as bad as you think Moon. My pair are going through it now the boy is getting a £10,000 per year student loan for the next 3 years he only starts paying back the loan once he starts earning over £27,000 a year if he earned £33,000 his repayments would be £54 a month and there's no interest on the loan, after 30 years it gets written off. that's why people are paying it for so long because you pay so little on the repayments. I know people who pay more for mobile phone contracts every month

Got the job done on the marmite wagon going by the skinned knuckle scale i skinned none so it was an easy job This was the bush i had to change located at the front end of the rear diff Had to make some bits to press the new bush back in taking the old one out was just a hammer and chisel job New bush in I've been getting a judder at low RPM in high gear now and again for the last few years and couldn't work out what it was, this seems to have fixed it stupid thing is i had the car MOT'd last month and the guy never mentioned this. I got under the car to re fit the exhaust heat shield that was rattling last week and spotted it straight away never liked this new MOT station i'm using he does servicing on our works vans he's fucking shit at his job i thought he'd be ok on the MOT's.

I would like to say my photo is not photo shopped in any way @Pedro needs to go to specsavers and @XTreme needs to stop looking for ways to ban the winning photo

Model Update: The 2022 Ducati Multistrada V4
Sir Fallsalot replied to Hugh Janus's topic in MOTORCYCLE REVIEWS
I was reading a comparison between the CRF1000 when it first came out and whatever KTM's equivalent bike was it was a long distance test with a mix of dirt and road, the conclusion was the KTM was a better bike but the presenters fought over who was going to ride the CRF back because the KTM was frying them in the heat of the day and neither wanted to ride it -
The brand new Mitas XT754 on the rear made short work of the mud its a bloody good tyre but don't last long though

The local land owner on that lane has been know to put logs in the way so was wondering if he had been there messing about or it could have been last weekends storms blowing it all back onto the lane. As for preferring the XR over the Beta i cant really say i have a preference, i like each of them for what they are i didn't think once today on the dirt i wish i was on the Beta there wasn't anything technical enough. the XR wins hands down for the road work between the lanes and then the 650 beats the XR on the road i just like everything so no one gets jealous of each other

Bloody part just turned up for the car so i now know what i'm doing tomorrow
-
Car part didn't arrive so took the bike for an MOT, the fitter where i take it is now doing the MOT inspections and the fucker is thorough cheeky git put a throwing front wheel loose spoke and slight play in the suspension linkage down as an advisory its been like that for the last 15 years i ain't about to fix it now went home the long way. The road from the MOT station is getting a bit rough i think This lane was recently cut back by some horsey types the lazy fuckers left all the clippings on the floor made it a little hard going After going through this I picked up a few of these i had to stop twice to clear the crap stuck in the bike and once to shift some branches i couldn't ride through Went to check on a lane where i reported a tree blocking the road a few months ago when i got there it was cleared But a little further on the recent winds had brought another tree down Easy enough to get around down through here But then another down had to cut through the trees to the right to get around it, from here it was home keep forgetting how nice the XR is to ride on the trails

Same here Bob i done my time with manuals who the fuck wants to sit in traffic with your foot constantly on the clutch its autos for me now even my company van has an Auto box
-
Supposed to be changing a bush on my car this weekend but the delivery date it was due on has come and gone maybe it will turn up tomorrow, Might see if i can get an MOT on the XR instead
-
I had the clutch give out on my XR a while back after struggling to get up a gnarly lane, it failed as i got back onto the road i couldn't touch the throttle as it would slip so i backed off all the adjustment at the handlebar and i got it to bite again but to get it right i had to back off the cable adjustment down by the engine as well it's been ok since no slipping at all
-
Yes i know Bob and these guys will argue their not doing anything wrong
-
Not quite look closer
